    Chapter 1

Entering into High School at 6'5" (age: 17, I would guess) Etienne is going to stand out in any crowd of his fellow students! You mention the bushy tail of his female guide and the sights of animal appearance in himself (blue tipped ears for example) ; is Etienne the only one who can see these symbols of lycanthropy in his fellow students, or are they visible to all and common enough that they are of little importance? I assume that 'the others who are like him' are lycanthropes as well. In any case they add to the magic/mystery of the story, well done

    Prologue

Unusual start for a werewolf story only in the event of 'the change' being at least partially under the control of the victim. The area of the country certainly agrees with the mythology of werewolves. I am not much of a fan of mythology, but I will be reading this story just to see how the author works out the details.

    Chapter 12

A difficult decision for any woman, but the sooner made the easier the deed.
  4. To add to my previous comment: this chapter and the preceding sexy one make me think of a storm at sea: the ominous gathering of the clouds on the horizon (in this case, building for 20 years), the onset of the storm with its wind and waves, and the period after the storm abates where the wind and rain has ceased, but the seas are still running high, then the long period where the seas gradually calm and the glory of the setting sun shines on a calm sea. Wow, isn't that poetic, not my normal acerbic, snarky comments, but expressive of the pleasure these last two chapters have given me. Excellent characterizations, guys; and a continuing source of pleasure in reading and enjoying the creativity of characters that are beyond the usual 15 years of age, suffering through the stresses of 'coming out' to parents for the first time. I look forward to each step along the way in this relationship.
  5. Because at my present age (87) my passionate years are behind me, and I frequently skip my eye over explicit scenes of sexual liaison in GA stories. Once you have done it all, including being deeply in love/lust with another man, written descriptions of the sex act do not meet the impact of the 'real thing' anymore. But in this chapter, I read the descriptions closely and returned to the emotions I felt in my 20's. It was marvelous, a real echo of a well/mis-spent youth. I believe congratulations are due to both of the authors of this story. It is beautifully done and appreciated by an old fucker such as me. Bouquets to both of you! 😀
  6. after you’re reunion – after your reunion you're is the contraction for 'you are', the possessive form of you is 'your'. Pix has a perfect personality for a pediatric nurse. It would almost be worth it to be sick if he were the caretaker (almost).
  7. you could lore it over him, – you could lord it over him. And that piece of wood is a two by four in American – why, I do not know. I don't make the rules, I just break them. Mister Will
  8. We have John and Joh talking to/about each other – do I finally get the idea that they are alternating in writing chapters? If so, it seems like a great idea,. It gives two viewpoints to the characterizations, that broadens our view point as well.
  9. Thank goodness for the Brit translating all the Aussie terms into (ahem) an easier language, now I can just sit back and enjoy the chapters! But over the many moons of reading on GA I have adapted to Aussie slang to a certain extent, I don't even hiccup when I read a word written in Oz in a story anymore. I am sure, however, that many of my fellow American readers get lost from time to time. The only thing that still draws my attention is climbing stairs to get up to the first floor! Whenever I come across an Aussie word in my reading, I just use my dictionary of Aussie Slang and add a new word to my vocabulary. I don't even have trouble with 'bloody' used as an expletive, although now that I am living in Brazil, I do have a young man working for me named 'Negõu', that is a little too close to an uncomplimentary word frequently used for a black man in the USA which I was taught never to use. But different strokes for different folks is a good rule I guess. I have enough trouble with words ending in 'o' being feminine and the same word ending in 'a' being masculine, for example here, one says 'obrigado' to a woman and 'obrigada' to a man for 'thank you'!

    Earl Chapter 10

sealed road – paved road: usually implies a surface of asphalt of at least two lanes with graveled edges (shoulders). stuff up – problem or mistake Note to Yank readers: a quick and not very accurate conversion factor: 1.5 k = 1mile.

    Earl Chapter 8

Tyler food a good book to read – Tyler found a good book to read. Well, I knew he was a bit of a bookworm. . . Laneway – alley first floor – second floor ground floor – first floor lounge – living room cupboard – closet ensuite – attached bath kitchen bench – kitchen counter track – path Rugging up - dressing warmly I will cover a few more translations from time to time, but I don't want to overwhelm my American friends as we are not too bright.

I understand the British Tabloids are even more persistent than those in this country. Good luck in keeping the Earl's presence secret!

    Earl Chapter 5

Keeping his arrival att the Abbey secret is going to be difficult with the press being aware of everything except his actual appearance. I can just see the news hounds salivating down the hall with the arrival of a good-looking young nobleman at the Abby. Good luck keeping that quiet.

    Earl Chapter 2

I have two advantages as a reader of this story: first, I have read several of Quokka's stories before, so I am able to translate most of the Australianisms into American English and , second, by the time I read it the author has made the corrections that other readers suggest, so I don't even realize them. Oh, a half-advantage which I have not mentioned: I have been to Australia (though my travels were confined to the eastern coast between Sidney and Cairns. Doing revision – studying for a test

    Earl Prologue

I have an advantage not available to many of my fellow USA readers, well half an advantage, I have been to Australia and am able to translate many of the Australianisms that the author uses into American English. I say a half advantage because my visit was confined to the East coast from Sidney to Cairns, but I did one day eat an Australian hamburger with "the works". You know the style that is half a foot high and has beetroot, pineapple, and at least three kinds of cheese. An Aussie friend made me a bet that I could not eat the whole thing at one sitting – it was an effort, but as I was much younger then and quite hungry, I made it!

    Chapter 15

I have a list, saved under bookmarks, of a number of useful sites: Google, google maps, wikipedia, British and American slang terms, and several others. When I come across in my reading, something I would like more information on, or a reference I would like to see a jpg of, it is there for me to choose. I highlight the word, press ctrl c to copy it and then select google from my list of favorites, press ctrl v to insert the word, then enter to get to a website or a jpg with the information I need. When I am through looking at a site, I just press the backspace key or the yellow button and it goes back to the site upon which I was reading, then an enter and a edit-find puts me right back where I was and highlights the unknown reference, ready to read on. It sounds complicated, but it seems to work very well and I use it frequently. There is probably an easier path, but I am such a computer idiot I din't know of it!

    Chapter 12

The prior sites – the prior sights. A site is a location, to aim a gun one uses a sight. a device on a gun or optical instrument used for assisting a person's precise aim or observation: I was intrigued by George III's mental condition as I believe his rages were much the cause of my country's War of Independence, so I did some reading up on mental diseases. it seems that current medical opinion rather revolves around bi-polar disease which might be a result of the close breeding of his German ancestry as a factor in his insane rages. At any rate it was a serious problem and may have resulted in our War for Independence. It made me wonder, if George had not been affected by mental problems, we might have settled politically for much the same colonial status as have the Canadians? It is strange how small things can affect great changes in history.

I wish I could wave my magic wand (no, not that one, I am too old to make any magic there!) and make all your ills disappear

    Chapter 6

I can truly appreciate Canuk's opinion of an 'orange person' because as of the date of my posting the news is up to its ass in comments about his impeachment . I realize that any comments I may make about impeachment should be reserved for 'the PIT, and so I will reserve my comments for that venue and for another time. However, that does not mean I have no opinion, as you might well guess, as an old man, I have an opinion about everything.

    Chapter 18

I am somewhat overwhelmed that George has encountered two women, his wife and the wife of Elgin who in this era of the latter portion of the 19th Century, both of whom either are or have been behaving badly according to the expected female behavior of the era. Mrs. Elgin has two strikes against her, her middle class family and the hormone ravages of pregnancy, while Georges wife has only her sexual desires to blame, However, the fact that she can no longer bear children can be a terrible psychological blow as she has been brought up that the bearing of children is her station in life. I am afraid that Mrs. Elgin's bad behavior will not right itself after the birth of her child however, she is certainly a poor choice as the spouse of a diplomat. but there is hope that Granger's wife can assume her proper station eventually. Perhaps I am being too (male) chauvinistic, but I am trying to put my mind-set into the social standards of the 19t Century.

    Chapter 16

I understand the procedure of identification of friendly ships in mid ocean by displaying a number from the code book by signal flags, but in this chapter, Granger orders his companion ship to attack one of the Spaniards:“Signal Ethalion to attack the Thetis.”. How does the skipper of Ethalion know which ship he is supposed to chase – do the Spanish ships have numbers as well? It would be difficult to differentiate between the two Spanish ships by signal flags only – unless possible by using the flags for 'TH' or some combination such as that. In the reference posting it is mentioned that the two ships are loaded with silver – the largest amount takes during the Napoleonic wars – I think Granger will put up with a bitchy passenger for that sort of reward! Half of over £618,040

    Chapter 3

Any officer who has men follow him voluntarily, must have something going for him. He is showing care for his men and they in turn are showing respect for him. Depending on the 'Gentlemen' he is assigned, we have the potential for a good crew and a happy ship. Even the Admiralty recognizes Granger's ability as a leader of men.

    Chapter 47

Mount Rainier, a sleeping, but not extinct, volcano, in the State of Washington, where I lived for many years and taught in a Community College, was named after Adm. Peter Rainier, it still spouts an occasional plume of steam or ash, but it is considered one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the US, second only to Yosemite, though lava flows are not its principal effect, The fact that it is located near areas of population and is covered with snow, which a volcanic eruption would melt, bringing mud flows (lahars) to the flatlands surrounding it, make it an extreme threat to much of the Seattle suburban area.

    Chapter 46

If Granger has to go someplace as a woman, an Arab woman in a hijab is the best way to go. The clothing will cover him from head to toe and even his blue eyes can be hidden behind a cloth screen (mesh). The dress is certainly shapeless enough to hide anything but his height, but is bound to be hot and sweaty while crossing the desert, but then, the desert of Egypt is hot and sweaty no matter what clouting is worn. It will not be until he reaches the Nile that anything could be comfortable. And riding a camel – worse than a ship in a storm in both motion and smell. This is NOT going to be a pleasure trip!
