  1. The friend I met up with doesn't like black pudding, so his finished up on my plate. I asked him one time why he doesn't just ask for two white puddings, instead of the standard one black and one white. He claims he doesn't because he would miss the look of pure enjoyment on my face when he passes over the black pudding to me...
  2. You might not believe me, but when I first typed that comment I had added the following in brackets following the word mushrooms: But I then decided to delete it, just to see what your reaction would be!
  3. Time for me to head to bed...
  4. Thought of the day:
  5. My doctor did tell me that, although I need to be careful about what, and how much, I eat, because of my diagnosis with Type 2 diabetes eight years ago, I shouldn't be frightened of 'treating' myself on the odd occasion. Today's breakfast was one of those occasions.
  6. So did I. In Cinerama format at a cinema in Manchester. We were sat in the centre on the front row, so the curved screen basically wrapped around us. It felt as though we were actually in the film. In the opening sequence, when the apes were leaping from side to side, I found myself actually ducking, as they appeared to be jumping over my head. And in the final, starfield scene, I really felt as though I was being sucked into the screen as the stars were rushing past me. One of the trippiest experiences I have ever experienced at the cinema. I have a copy on an external hard drive. But watching it on a small screen just isn't the same.
  7. I met a friend for breakfast this morning, and had a "Full Irish." Fried egg, bacon, sausages, black pudding, white pudding, mushrooms, baked beans, fried tomato, hash brown, buttered toast, soda bread with butter and marmalade, strong black coffee..., and lashings of delicious conversation. Yummy, yummy, yum!
  8. I made jam last night from some of my frozen raspberries. I needed to make space in the freezer for garden peas and runner beans.
  9. Anyway, at the risk of sounding a bit like a homophone, I'll just drop this here:
  10. "I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that." I never watched the TV series Millenium, so don't know if the quote you reference was also in that, but I remember it from the 1968 film, 2001: A Space Odyssey...
  11. Greetings, Page!
  12. And you, Gary!
  13. Greetings, Albert! I'm hoping the wind has changed again overnight...
  14. Off to bed. Meeting a friend for breakfast in the morning. Good night, all.
  15. Sure, she only started making it a few days ago. The yeast won't have had time to make much alcohol in that short of a time. I doubt it'll be any more potent than the ginger beer my mam used to make for us when I was a nipper.
  16. Talking of philately jokes....
  17. And I love the way you try to steal my thunder. What is it they say....? Oh yes: "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." But, remember:
  18. What's in a name? That which we call a rose By any other name would smell as sweet.
  19. I always thought it was Bouquet... 🌹🌺 🌷
  20. I wasn't sure whether to use a 'laugh' emoticon because you're stealing my monochrome theme, or to use a 'love' one for the sultry image you shared, so decided to just go with a 'like'...
  21. Hi, Bucket! Sorry I didn't see your message(s) earlier. Busy day here. G'night, and sweet dreams, bro.
  22. And you, Albert!

    Chapter 1

Probably too late now (5 and a half years on)... But if you go to the Table of Contents, you'll see near the top of the page an option to Print the story. Clicking on this will open a new window with the whole story in it. You could then simply save that window, or select everything in it, and paste it into a word processor to save.
  24. G'day, bro. Hopefully you get the promised cooler, less humid weather.
  25. Happy Saturday, everyone! Cool day here, just at the moment. Overcast, breezy, only around 12°C/54°F, and feeling a few degrees lower with the breeze. Only the occasional light shower promised. Were it not for the fact that I am involved with a training session on Zoom for most of the day, it might actually be a good day for continuing lifting the maincrop potatoes. Fortunately, I've not a lot to do in the training session. Someone else is giving the bulk of he training. I'll hopefully get some garden work done in the evening, after the training session finishes. Hope everyone else's day goes well.
