For dinner tonight I steamed some new potatoes, baby carrots, and broccoli, and made myself a mushroom and tomato omelette. Some of the last of this year's homegrown strawberries with a dollop of cream for afters. All finished off with a nice pot of Earl Grey tea.

Poor Simon! He's got himself into a terrible funk. Hopefully something will happen soon to help him lift himself out of it. Although I can't see a Saturday spent with his dad is going to be of much help in that department.

You sure you're not mixing me up with someone else? Or could it just be that six weeks at Cambridge University have opened his eyes to the fact that he doesn't always have to live up to society's bland expectations? (Or maybe it's just that "He's an artist, for fuck's sake. Artists dress like that" as Danny heard someone say in the school gym.)

Now, do you really think I could be as evil as to leave you with a cliffhanger, @dughlas? But I've gone back and checked, and that was where the chapter was supposed to end. Looks like you'll just have to wait until the next chapter gets posted to see what the next paragraph or two are... I'm not sure if Lowry was actually trying to come out of a closet, as such. But I suppose that depends on how one uses that particular phrase... And many thanks for the comment. It makes me feel good when people take the time to respond. Basically makes all the time and effort feel worthwhile.
