Troy did it! Well, they both (or all three?) did it.
The next chapter winds everything up for these guys and gals, as best as I could do. I hope you like what's coming.

Thanks for commenting, Geemeedee!
That scene makes me tear up a little too. I can see it so vividly in my mind and feel it from both of their perspectives. It's hard not to cry with them.
Everything ends ... but we've got a chapter to go. And I hope to send them off right.
Asking those important questions, I see.
Thanks for reading and for the comments, Bft. This one is pretty special to me. There are many characters, but I enjoyed creating them and their journeys.
But ... those journeys aren't over. And the story will continue in A Silent Song, the next installment of the Camp Refuge series.
I'm nearly done posting Ash and Ember. Once that's done, we'll start on the next part of this story.
Yeah, they're all doing pretty well in this chapter, aren't they? It's nice to see good things happen to good people. 🙂
Thanks for reading and for the comment, chris.
I needed that word in my life. "Harrisizing." @droughtquake, if you're feeling generous, I'd like a proper definition of this word, please. In the style of Merriam Webster, if you would. 😛
Grant was definitely nervous, and Mom really did step in to make it as good as she could for him.
John did slap him about a bit. With love, but still ... 🙂
Thanks, kbois!
One more, Parker. Thanks for taking the time to comment. 🙂
We can all see what needed to happen. Well, all except for Troy who needed a little push. Yet, I hope his reticence was not unbelievable. Maybe it's not something we agree with, but instead something we could understand.
Thanks, Jeffrey!
That voice living in Troy was not having it - being turned into an excuse to miss out on marriage to the man Troy now loves. It doesn't come out often, but that little voice really feels like another character to me.
The weekend was a great one. Much cheese, wine, sparkling cider and more were had.
Grant was having a little moment, wasn't he? Well, a man is allowed when something like marriage is on the line. Mom and Dad both understood this, luckily.
And I know it seemed like Troy took a long time to reply, but it was literally only a couple of seconds. A lot can happen when events are purely in the mind, and a lot did for him. Luckily for us, he answered with a "yes."
Thanks for reading, Butcher.

William hung up the phone. Grant had just told him of his plans to propose to Troy, and to have all of their friends from Vermont present for it.
He closed his eyes to imagine it - his son standing next to Troy, happy and complete. At first, he didn't know what he would feel. The idea of his son marrying a man was, on its face, a bit of a shock to him. But as he thought about it, and as he recalled the sound of Grant's voice when he spoke ab

Yeah, that was a pretty popular sentiment concerning mother. Elias is a lot better off with a group of people who had essentially been strangers only a couple of weeks ago.
Oh, there's a rather grim satisfaction to beating the hell out of someone who made it their business to be a terrible human being to someone who is helpless. Perhaps that's not very evolved of me, but ... regardless, it's there. You can see this in Clay - the need to handle something directly, the need to control events, to be the force of change himself. But, he's got stuff going on, and Greg won't let him make that mistake.
It's what people who love each other do.

Jeremy is a hot little bear! 😄 Well, more of an otter. But both are hot.
Clay is trying. And that's better than we were before. You have a bit more to read in order to find out how that goes.
