    The Answer

Thanks, Jaybee. Actually, I don't think it would. The goal was to show snap-shots in the life of a man, and string them together to show a progression in him. A longer story would become pretty repetitive: Shawn being his self-centered self, while Ian remains quietly frustrated. Which, the reader may or may not know at all ... because we're looking at everything through Shawn's self-adsorbed lens. It was hard to balance Ian's interest in Shawn vs Shawn's lack of awareness. That slowly shifted over the years for Shawn, and I hope it showed in the sections. I'm glad you took it for a spin. 🙂

    The Answer

Thanks, Parker. I tried hard to show this slow sort of waking up in Shawn. A shift away from selfishness, and his very limited perspective to one that included more details that were external to himself. He grew up. Yeah. He grew up, and was lucky enough to have someone love him through the entire process.

    The Answer

In his youth, Shawn passes through life as if it's an amusement park ride. Men come and go, all while his slightly judgmental friend, Ian, looks on. This is the story of Shawn dealing with the repercussions of his choices, and then him growing into his own life.

    The Answer

The Answer Daylight struggled to break through the mid-morning fog, but it had been enough to wake Shawn. He smiled against his chosen nightly partner’s warm neck. “Good morning.” He wriggled his pelvis, pressing into the shapely ass that had already performed so admirably the night before. The man patted Shawn’s hip. “Good morning, Shawn.” Rolling him onto his back, Shawn kissed him while reaching for his lube and a condom. Shawn worked a slippery finger inside and the guy grunt

    Home

Ah, this one was a fun write. I'm happy you enjoyed it, Bft. I love that song. It really does fit.
  6. Hehe. A country boy that dresses up and is decent? He's gotta be gay! 😄 Thanks for reading, Bft.

    Boyfriends

  8. I'm sorta sorry to make people cry. Sorta. 🙂 Thanks for reading through the tale once more. I've got a little something coming today that you may like. It's a short story ... and I'm gonna make a final pass through it before posting. But it'll be soon.

    Connections

Powerful scene with Markus and Miranda, isn't it? 😄 I'm glad you like the story, Nana Atuwa. Thanks for reading and commenting.

    Planning

It took a long time for me to figure out that the social construct of "one man one woman" doesn't work for me, or for many others. Here are examples of people where that just doesn't fit. And it never will. Thanks for reading and for the comment.

    Not Boyfriends

Some problems are not so easily handled. 😄 Keep on reading. I hope to surprise you.

    Farmer Wren

    Ohhhh ... just wait! 😄

    Broken Blood

More than that is the fact that Wren OWNS their ancestral home. That just rubs salt into a country boy's open wound.

    Papaw

    Is it? Hm.

    An Ember Burns

Thanks, Nana Atuwa! I'm so happy you liked it! It means a lot that you do, and that you'd take the time to tell me here. There's more from me on the way. I hope to see you there too!

    An Ember Burns

Hehehe. Oh, poor, nervous Aaron. Thanks, KayDeeMac! I was editing the first chapter of the next part of Camp Refuge last night. Not quite through it, but I'm on the way. Then it'll be Thorn's turn to take a crack at it. So ... soon! Oh, there's also a little something else I will put out there too. Maybe today ... it all depends. And what a cute little quote. Where'd you get that from? 😛

    An Ember Burns

Thanks, jaysalmn! I love this little crew of characters. This story had a lot of important characters in it, and they made the writing interesting and a challenge too. I have this habit of elevating a very minor character to "major" status mid way through a story (Orson in Camp Refuge, Rhett and Beth here, etc), and I rather like how that works. I think Beth could have used a more "screen time" but other than that, I liked how it turned out.

    An Ember Burns

Thank you, Bft! It was a fun story to write. I'm glad folks enjoyed it. And I rather liked that wedding scene myself! 🙂 We'll have to see about a book two!

    An Ember Burns

Thank you, Jeffrey! I’m happy it could touch you. That’s the idea, to evoke emotion from the reader. There’s more coming from me soon. When it starts, I hope to see you there too! 🙂

    An Ember Burns

I like these characters a lot. They grew, and changed, yet remained who they were. They just leaned on each other to become who it was that they were meant to be. I appreciate that you read and enjoyed it. Thanks for that.

    Revelation

Thanks for commenting! You know, Troy was already worried his relationship might be in trouble, thanks to how Grant was behaving over the week or so before this scene. So in a way, this was a relief to him. Yeah, at first he was mad and upset. But John helped, and he felt relief that Grant wasn't having second thoughts about them.
