You have the ability to handle extreme emotions without letting things slip into melodrama, and that is a difficult task. I'm glad our first meeting of Max isn't a whole study in teenage angst. He is 15, so there is bound to be some of that, but at least you didn't start us there. I also we hope we see more of Kyle. We seems like he has something to offer all of our fellows.

Thoroughly enjoyed this! The love that Louis and Don have is so beautifully spun out. The tenderness, frustration, humor, and above all, the realness. I love your characters. I love your storytelling. I'm very grateful to @Wayne Gray for recommending this story as a starter for your work. You have another devoted fan here. Now that I've had the opportunity to read both your writings separately, I can see how well your collaboration on Trainwreck worked. Bravo!

I was wondering if Don's problem was more of a psychological one. He wasn't responding because he wasn't willing to believe that Louis could love him and simply shut him out, perpetuating the problem further. Once he allowed himself to acknowledge his need for Louis and accept love, a lot of things that had been blocked started to release. So beautifully written.

And you can see that I am just racing through this story! It's not just how wonderful the story telling is (and it is!) There is a wonderful depth and complexity to your writing. It is difficult to convey all the things that go rushing through one's mind when faced with profound adversity. It's not logical. It's seldom fair. But the thought that go through are huge and you've captured them with great honesty. And of course, gotten me completely wrapped up in these characters. Thank you.

You're not supposed to make me cry in the first chapter. But you have me wanting to rush on to chapter 2.

Damn it! I know I fall for anything even vaguely sentimental, but I'm a sobbing mess. This chapter, like the whole story has had me going from the edge of my seat to laughing out loud, to crying tears of joy in the span of a few lines. Thank you both for such a delicious soap opera. I WANT MORE!!!

My apologies. With all of the on-the-page relationships, I must have gotten confused. At any rate, the collaboration is producing some delightful reading. And it gives me two more authors to check out.

Great ending to the series! I have thoroughly enjoyed all of your characters. I think I've gone through the whole W.A.R. series in about a week. Now I get to go back and see what you've added to "String". Now that I have the whole backstory, I may start it over from the beginning to see what else lines up. Bravo, Jeff! Bravo!

So everyone is on the same track with Luke. Is he really so detached from his own actions that he thinks it's OK for him to be sleeping around but he's furious that his boyfriend is too? This just shows how great a writer you are, jkwsquirrel. You have so many of us wrapped up in the lives of your characters as if they were real, because you have made then so real for us. All of us feel some heart ache for Dustin and hope he finally can find someone who can show him the love he obviously needs so badly.

I agree, and also say bravo. Brilliant! Just makes us all keep coming back for more.

That is my worry as well, especially after what he said just before he left. After all he's been through and the way he's been treated all his life, self-destruction is a real threat. I really, really hope not. This was the beat down I had been expecting every since reading "String". Brett really can into his own in how he handled himself through it. There is more maturity there than he has ever displayed before. Even bleeding and in pain, he stood his ground and he and Dustin started down the road of understanding, even if Dustin isn't ready for it yet.

Ok. I adore George now. not only for his acceptance and love for his son, but because he knows he has to continue battling his own demons. He always tries to be a better man, but it's never just an easy click and it's all changed. I hope Billy starts to understand that more. In life's journey we all have those things we are able to surmount, but it's never without some struggle. I just wish Billy would visit Dustin in the hospital. Even if Dustin pushes him away, Dustin needs to know someone cares about him. I'm sure you have that all planned and I can't wait to see what you have in store for us. I love your writing. Thank you for the journey.

You are evil! There. I said it and I'm glad. When I saw the title of this chapter I was afraid to start it because I thought that something terrible was going to happen and Brett was going to throw Billy over, and I would be a sobbing mess along with him. I am so relieved I was wrong and that the new boyfriend is the one we've all been routing for. So again, I say "you're evil" (and we love you for it) The only problem I've run into is that I started all of this reading "String" first. While I was waiting for new chapters to appear, I discovered the whole WAR series and have been racing through it. I'm loving all of it, but I am sometimes having to refresh myself on which story I am reading without them getting too confused. Love all of it. You have me hooked.

Beautiful scene here for Billy and Brett. Makes me wish I had come out earlier, but in a conservative part of Southern California in the 1970s it just wasn't that easy. Reading this brings up every boyhood crush and yearning I ever felt. Well done.

By several of the comments, I see that many of us reached the same hypothesis regarding Dorian starting to get poisoned. I really hope we're all wrong.

Lovely wrap up to the story. My only disappointment is that I selfishly want to hear more about Chris, Rory, et al. Also, did I miss something, or was this the first we heard of Chris being allowed back to his original pack so that he and Rory could attend Aiden's and Ethan's wedding? I would have though I would have remembered something like that. That would truly involve a lot of healing for Chris. Again, WolfM, masterful storytelling that has held me eagerly tearing through your stories, barely able to stop for meals. Very much looking forward to Book 3.

And there was the piece I had been anticipating. I'd had a feeling about this since the middle of "Running With the Pack". Great way of bringing it out.

You had hinted in the previous story that Michael's abuse and psychological blackmail was deeper that any of the guys were willing to talk about. I had suspected that it was as deep as you revealed here. The is one more piece to this puzzle, and I'm waiting it see if I have guessed correctly. This was a huge breakthrough for Chris being able to start to face this set of demons. Hope is is on the path to his healing. The road will get rougher before it gets smoother.
