Mates! Yes!!! Although a lot of us guessed, it is still wonderful to see in writing. It gives hope the twins will be ok; there is still Kage and the piece of himself in Elijah. Perhaps that link will help with the twins eventual transition back. Maybe that piece is a clue how to help all the found pups. Caleb!!!! Oh, Caleb.

Actually, there is no US federal statute of limitations on human trafficking. Unfortunately each state determines the punishment and laws vary. Sexual trafficking falls under human trafficking. It’s very hard to prosecute, though. And harder to prove the parents understood that is what they were doing rather than allowing the trafficker to be a guardian or adoptive parent. It sucks.

While emotionally difficult to read, very well done. As a reminder for anyone who wonders, it was the mid 1980’s when the US first began a more systematic look at missing, exploited and/or abused children, which is about 10 years after the first federal law was enacted. It was still state by state; reports and follow up were on paper. There was limited sharing between states and computers were dinosaurs. It was the start of missing children on milk cartons and government funded or private non-profit organizations. National awareness began. It wasn’t until the mid to late 1990’s that the US had Amber alerts (named after a little girl from Texas) and computers / phone systems began to catch up, but everything was still done on paper. States began working together and laws started getting harsher. So, unfortunately, Loren was still at an age and time when horrible acts could be committed against him and those acts could be covered up. My heart goes out to Loren and Lars. Yet, they are surrounded by love and so much has changed for both of them. The podcast and clothing line profit are brilliant ideas. I can think of no greater good than to prevent future children from experiencing what Loren went through and narrowly escaped. And on a lighter note: LOVED the Dino costumes and Halloween theme! This weekend I was at one of those pop up Halloween stores helping my niece find a blow up dinosaur costume. They let us try on the samples. Best. Day. Ever!!

I knew something was bugging me yesterday during my first read through. I got so excited about all the signs that the twins are alive and reachable that I missed that CALEB is in Texas and nearby. Caleb. Who deserves redemption and a mate. Like Tyler. Who most likely won’t be his mate. Because one of the twins probably will. But CALEB!

I have it in writing (comment from last chapter) that everything will somehow work out with/about Kage. Sooooooooooooo, let me say again that the twins remind me of the Sentinels AND seem more and more and more like MATES. I mean, come on… the song! I think they are on the right track to finding the twins alive. Crossing fingers the plan works. Now I am going back to read the chapter again, because this feels like one of those chapters with hidden tidbits of hints.

Yes! I wondered that, too! And about the whole mirror image of each other that the twins have going on. I just didn’t comment on the mate part because I feel like I’ve been stuck on the whole mate / where does Kage fit in thing!

The twins human forms are (or were) like the shifted versions of the Spirit Wolves mates, mirror images but opposite. That has to be important and gives me hope for their safe rescue.

I. Love. Kim Possible!!! Just putting that out there. And if Rob Stone really is a Rob Possible, he has no doubt uncovered something HUGE and potentially life altering. This chapter was filled with real life moments that I couldn’t help grinning about. What parent hasn’t expected raising children to go one way but in reality gets a watery, smelly, poop all the way up their back into their ears kinda day? And who hasn’t received the hideous but you are stuck putting them in it outfit or the kid is gonna scream cry no matter what you do until your teeth itch from clamping your jaw experience? Or what about the I’m just gonna take a little bit of time for myself while you sit quietly in your bouncy seat publicly ruined? Let’s not even discuss when they get older and say the absolute worst thing to a stranger. (My child, in a very serious tone, advised a older lady who had just complimented him that she had a very big mole on her face 🫣) Jay and Loren are exceptional parents. Just love how they love each other and the beans!

Huh, here’s a thought. What if the blurry image is Caleb?

Finding and rescuing another pup! Yay! But of equal importance is the information Rosalie and Silas provided about elemental shifters, Psi connections, and giving a better understanding of Kage leaving a part of himself with Elijah. All of those connections are beginning to feel like the missing part needed to find and rescue the remaining pups. It is curious what is niggling at the back of Elijah’s mind about elemental shifters. And, in the ending, did Kage just give Elijah a glimpse of his (their?) mate?!

“For what it’s worth, I believe it’s Kage, too,” said Kellan. “If six wolves can be the reincarnation or whatever of six dudes from two-thousand years ago, why can’t a piece of a shadow shifter get stuck inside a shapeshifter?” Not sure why my original comments didn't post yesterday, but it was that kind of day... Since all of the previous comments have covered most of my thoughts, I really only have this to say: The line quoted above gave me so much peace. For whatever reason, I was truly floating around in a denial bubble about Kage's death. I relish the idea of him being a forever part of Elijah. Loved the throuple of souls idea that @Geemeedeethought of!

There cannot be a parent/grandparent/caregiver/loved one/close friend out there reading this who didn't, in some way, relate to the whole experience. Although every birth is unique and every child comes into this world in their own way, THIS was spot on. Births are called miracles for a reason. "There are moments in life when you know, in the marrow of your bones, that you did something right." Welcome Maeve and Maci; you are loved.

Such an emotional trip to start the epilogue series with! And for every down (the ridiculous lawsuit, the devastating IVF failure) there were such uplifting moments (Seamus calling Loren his like-brother, TWINS, Katje) to remind us that Jay and Loren will always be ok. I am sure the twins are a shock but are also exactly what will be best for them. Sometimes you don’t know just how badly you want or need something until it becomes a possibility.

Loving v Virginia is an under discussed, monumental Supreme Court ruling. Thank you for shining a spotlight on it. You did an exceptional job of weaving that ruling into the lives of CJ and Owen. Leibe’s wedding was perfect! Couldn’t help but ‘smile cry’ when Chipper sang.

I cannot stop smiling! It is now ass-o’clock in the morning and I gladly gave up a night’s sleep reading; I couldn’t make myself take a break or wait until the sun rose. It was worth it! What a fantastic twist on age differences in relationships, the perception of who has the power, and planning out / playing the long game. In under 20,000 words Nolan and Jensen won my heart.

My takeaway is the same as the other commenters; learning about Kinon is important. I’m interested to find what exactly Aero knows and who the source of the kara ot is.

Yes, because this is a noble cause and mostly dead is slightly alive. Then there is that pesky true love we all shouldn’t forget about…

And just like that, with Elijah feeling that flash of heat in his chest, my ‘Kage can’t be all the way gone’ bubble of denial is back. It has much firmer walls and I am working on decorating it while I float around waiting for the next chapter. I’ve also decided to go all Princess Bride and imagine some Billy Crystal type character explaining to us, at some point further along in the story, how Kage still exists. For now, I will gladly take the possibility that Cameron will be saved. Enjoy your vacation! You’ve earned it.
