Dang it! I had convinced myself that it couldn’t have been Neall. I think I’ve still been floating in my ‘Kage can’t really be all the way gone’ bubble of denial. This chapter popped the bubble. It’s all very, very real. Pups are being tortured and killed. Lives are being lost and someone’s children are gone forever. *sigh. Yes, please, to going camping and regrouping. Because there is some sh#t going down with Tyler calling out Boston and our guys need a moment to breathe.

Do we know that it was Kennaman using the computer? Or was it someone else with to access it?
-
I am also in on the vote that the smell is a dead body. And I agree with those who do not think it is Neall. I think Elijah's reaction would have been more emotional. Could it be Kennaman himself? Did someone get to Kennaman and kill him off? Well, one can only hope...

It feels like we are about to jump into the deep end of the pool.

What an astounding tribute to true, lasting love. You are right, even when it doesn’t work out the way we want love can remain pure and strong. You are incredibly gifted in expressing feelings most of us grapple with. After reading this, I think I’ll spend the rest of the day listening to Sam Cooke.

This is such a lovely, poignant story filled with a sense of wonder, continuity and cherished memories. I cried, not from sadness, but from feeling a part of their lives and their love.

This piece beautifully gives a voice to those who often feel they cannot speak for themselves while in a very ugly situation. It gives power and understanding to those who desperately need it at a time when they realize control was previously taken from them. Well done. Thank you.

Yes! Reading the names and getting a bit of background made it all feel real and very worrisome. The fate of the twins really scares me. The rescue efforts will be tense and extremely dangerous.

Yes, and I had held out hope there would be clues for how to reverse the change in the lost computer. But at least we now know where the pups were initially taken. Progress!

And he is honing his skills for his mate. Who I think is Caleb.

I had hoped that the computer data would also reveal how to change the pups back, but I am glad that at least the data revealed their whereabouts. It is impressive how quickly it was decoded. Now it’s time to get the teams rolling! Thanks for updating us on the weather situation. I have family in Florida. It really is a tomato / tomahtoe situation between twister, tornado, wind gust, downspout or thunderstorm. Glad everyone is ok. Not having insurance makes it stressful, though, so I am sure you will be busy helping folks find ways to replace what has been lost.

I am also a founding member of Team Caleb but let’s really think about this whole redemptive arch thing. Caleb has a ways to go to make things right. If Caleb is Tyler’s mate then Tyler ups his ‘got game’ points AND we get to hear from Caleb in this story. Caleb working directly to help the pups and get rid of Huntington? Let’s do the math: Caleb + Tyler [x finding the pups safe] - Huntington = redemption. My calculations don’t account for a full Caleb story, but that will be welcome, too.

Sincere condolences on the loss of you mom. Thank you for trusting us with this part of your life. Lots of tidbits and important information in this chapter. My two (of many) take aways from this chapter: Kage has a very strong voice within Elijah; he remains a literal part of Elijah and a guiding force. The teams and how they are organized are a direct result of Kage’s influence. Second, I think that Caleb and Tyler are mates.

A very satisfying ending-for-now. I especially enjoyed learning Northman is being transferred to Angola. Oz figured out a great way to remain with the Nature Conservancy. CJ is putting the infrastructure to a presidential run in place. All is well.

Tyler’s entry onto pack lands and learning about more about shifters as well as seeing a shift for himself could not have gone any smoother. That goes a long way to building trust. Right now it is especially important for for both Elijah and Tyler to feel safe and surrounded by those they know are trustworthy. Interesting reaction Tyler had to the totally naked part of shifting 😉! Seems he might be open to a male shifter relationship…

Yes! Exactly. A perfect summation; I could not have said it any better.

I think Tyler is correct, the upcoming trip and the events that are to come will be pivotal life moments for both of them.

The West Wing is also one of my all time favorites. And while I am gushing, CJ’s verbal smack down and not so subtle shading of the Fox News reporter reminded me of wish-he-really-was-President Josiah ‘Jed’ Bartlet.

I was so excited to see the next in this series posted and you did not disappoint! There are so many to choose from, but my favorite part in this chapter is with the Biden’s for a subtle shout out to C.J. Cregg (actress Allison Janney) from West Wing by using Allison Cregg.

The laptop was exactly where most of us suspected it would be, and finding it felt just as bittersweet and almost anti climatic as expected now that Kage is gone. This chapter highlighted just how young and inexperienced Elijah and Tyler are, yet showcased their potentials to confidently handle adult situations. They missed some major red flags. Why did Trevor show up and merely bait them? Is it really a good plan to blindly meet with Kage’s boss knowing so little about the overall situation they are in? Yet, they recognize it is best to stick together, keep Tyler’s family out of all of it, let go of Elijah’s no-longer-home… and… get the Montana pack involved.

Oh. No. That was not expected, but I guess death rarely is. I read the chapter twice and then the comments twice, as well. Feels like we are all in various stages of grief. I fall in line with those who are bargaining for Kage to somehow, someway come back. It felt like there was some wiggle room for a form of Kage to be with Elijah. But as I said, I know I am bargaining. After that my plan is to go firmly into denial until we are more chapters in. For those commenters who are angry or upset, remember that one mark of an exceptional author is that they make us feel, even if those feelings are difficult.

Whoa! That started all boom chicka wah wah, and ended with the Star Wars Imperial March. So I guess the big question is whether Trevor is a double agent or working with Kage’s boss. My guess is a double agent, but either way, it places Elijah in peril. Hopefully Elijah will be able to slip away from Trevor’s evil intent and somehow rescue Kage. Looks like we are in for several tense chapters.

Huntington must be guarded as well at his office as he is at his home. A red flag was the receptionist, who seemed to recognize Elijah. I agree with @weinerdog, Ty might be in danger now. One very thorough look over of the office area by Elijah doesn’t feel like the beginning to a solid plan. Having said that, I don’t have any better ideas!

Several years ago I worked as a counselor for individuals and families of persons with disabilities. Without exception everyone expressed problems with being seen as a what and not as a who. While that was often not what brought them in for counseling, it certainly was a major roadblock in their lives. Loved this story and how Brion is seen and heard by CJ. But most importantly I loved how Brion had worked through his trauma and knew he had equal rights to his life and well being. Welcome to the team, Brion!

What if his boss is Dante Berand? (…I know you just finished Spirit Wolves 😉 He is brought up in the very last chapter.) Full disclosure, I tend to guess wrong. But what do we really know about Kage’s boss? Are we wrongly assuming he is Fae?
