    I think Tyler is playing this quite smartly. Rufus needs this, and Tyler's not gambling for more right now, because he can't afford to lose. Even Tyler's Dad, who specializes in not understanding, can understand guy-whose-Dad-just-died-needs-a-hug without descending into panic about whether or not it's gay.

    @Thirdly & @LunaM. , I really appreciated this story, and the work that went into the storytelling, the illustrations, and the translation. The war has made me pay a lot more attention over the last year to how people think in Eastern Europe. It was a real gap for me that I didn't think very much or know very much about the region and the way people thought and lived. Most North Americans don't. Ed and Wilhelm and Alex are characters I wouldn't have met or thought about, and I'm really glad you shared them with us.

    Yup. Although I also buy that what she's described is the only path she can imagine. It's sort of hard to tell if a) she just lacks imagination for a better future that would include compassion, integrity, and love for Tyler, or if b) she's exactly right, and if he comes out he's in for tragedy and misery and a permanent schism with his father. It's always sad when people aren't able to love who they love, but the idea that it simply isn't safe to come out is sometimes entirely rational.

    Interesting development. Alex has been driving the action for quite a while, and Ed's been really passive. But Alex is woken him up a bit, and the party re-established Ed as someone who can act and make choices. Interesting to see what he does next.

    The plums themselves are very silky. It's the overall fursona that is slick. Just like Matty. Nothing but slick. Never pulls the chute under pressure. Very slick. Always. What's that? Can't hear you. Sorry, I gotta go out.

    "They were two actors playing in a very bad play." hehehe It's a pretty great play, just with a fresh new (nervous) voice in the lead role. Matty is building up this role. He steps onto the tightrope with so much confidence, and he rides it until his nerves wear out. So, does Matty have the cool plums to last nine lives before Rusty gets his cat ass trophy ?
