  1. In 1980 a large hole in the ozone layer was discovered over Antarctica. It was determined that this hole was created due to the use of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) that were used in aerosol spray cans, refrigerators, air conditioners, and fire extinguishers, as well as carbon tetrachloride that was used in paints, adhesives, degreasers, and paint removers, to name a few. In 1987 the Montreal Protocol was adopted, which limited the production and use of these products and the hole in the ozone layer has been shrinking slightly every year since then. Some sources project that the hole may be closed completely by 2060, while others are claiming it's getting worse. I'm not sure which side is correct, but in all likelihood life on earth won't survive without the ozone layer.
  2. Ozone in the atmosphere absorbs UV light. This reduces human exposure to harmful UV radiation that causes sunburns, skin cancer, and cataracts. The Ozone layer is essential for there to be life on earth.

    Chapter 15 S2

We'll have to wait and see who's at the door. That's a good idea about transitioning into different races. Devin did that on occasion when he was looking for the rapist, because it made him more difficult to see when he was prowling around in the dark. He may think of doing that again, only this time in the daytime as well. Thanks for pointing that out .

    Chapter 15 S2

Hey, I have to leave a cliffy every once in a while to see if you're paying attention. And gaining the license plate number wouldn't have mattered. Her rescuers walked away and Mac drove the SUV, and the deputies saw the SUV when they returned to their campsite later, so they might have noted the license plate number too. Oh, and good ol' Louella Haskins can do all the snooping she wants and she wouldn't find anything.

Yep, and hopefully they won't have accidentally duplicated someone else's fingerprints.

    Chapter 15 S2

Thanks, Chris, I'm glad you enjoyed it, and just be patient and all will become clear.

    Chapter 15 S2

And you can see where that got him.
  8. The origin of the word Maudlin is from the name of Mary Magdalena, who in paintings was often shown weeping as she ask Jesus to be forgiven for her sins. She was described as overly sentimental and frequently engaged in cry-fests.

    Thanks, Al. I appreciate that.

Do you really think I'm that devious? muhahaha

    Chapter 15 S2

Yes, Al is my contact at Castle Roland and he's very good about not abusing the fact that I send him chapters early so he'll have time to prepare them for posting. The deputy may have only been looking for specific indications to see if whoever was camping out was involved, and not noticing what he was looking for merely dismissed anything else. And I believe you're not alone with wondering who's at the door, but that will have to wait until next week.

Ah, give weinerdog more credit that that. And good luck with finding your shoe. It might be all chewed up by now.

    Chapter 15 S2

Thanks, Danilo. I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter. Yes, Gramps and Pops have obviously been an example for Devin as he was growing up, possibly even more so than his Dad. I'm sure they must have taken him on trips when he was ;younger as well, and who knows what happened on those trips. And now you have to wait and see who's at the door. hehehee

    Chapter 15 S2

Yes, all four of them had a part to play in this rescue, including Mac. Maybe this is just their way of breaking him in and making him a part of the action. Yes, I believe the boys are aware that they can't be changing into the same type of large guy from now on, so we'll see what they do in the fujture. And to find out who's at the door, you'll find that out next chapter. lol

    Chapter 15 S2

Yes, I don't think the men would have been willing to come out of the cabin to talk to a pit bull. A German shepherd isn't as threatening, yet just as effective. Then again, maybe I should have used a weinerdog. Thanks for the thought, though.

    Chapter 15 S2

It's definitely possible, and now they seem to be dragging Mac in with them. In this case, it was a good thing Devin was alert and saw the guy with the gun and attacked him, ot herwise this might not have turned out so well.
  17. Chapter 15 – Excitement on Spring Break “The two guys are arguing, because whatever they were up to hadn’t gone well,” Devin reported after he’d transitioned back to himself. “It appears that while they were kidnapping the woman, they might have also killed someone in the process.” “That means they’re armed and dangerous,” Pops mumbled. “It sounds as if they’re holding her for ransom,” Devin continued, “and I take it her husband must be very wealthy, because they were saying som

  19. Only one submission per author. I'm sure some, besides myself, will be disappointed by this news, since a tribute to Comicality can be done in different ways. I had already considered a couple of different ideas once it had been announced that a tribute to Comicality would take place, and I've already started working on one idea. I'd thought of different angle I might try as well, but I guess I can always post my second idea on my site with a dedication to Comicality in a story note.
  20. Today, as in this afternoon I went to the Calgary International Beer Fest. Over 200 Craft breweries with over 700 types of beers, spirits, ciders and meads 😮 Oh my. Considered the largest in Canada and one of the top 5 in the world. Somehow I had a few shots of moonshine too! And the Irish have always had a reputation for being big drinkers, but of course, the probably got that reputation before Canada became a country. Or did they all move to Canada later?
  21. The word pother has an interesting history. Originally, it was pronounced to rhyme with other, but in the 1800's the pronunciation shifted to rhyme with bother. As far as the word's meaning, in the 1590s it meant 'a disturbance or commotion'. In the 1640s it referred to 'mental trouble', and by the 1690s it meant 'to fluster'. According to Merriam-Webster, today it means 'agitated talk or controversy, typically over a trivial matter', but it has a secondary meaning: 'a choking cloud of dust or smoke'.
  22. But it kills a lot of trees in the process and some employers have complained that workers are becoming less productive because their always writing on on sheets of paper and then throwing them away! lol
