  1. He's gotten uglier as he grows up, but in the Titanic and the Beach...he was gorgeous.
  2. I got my tattoo when I was 16. It's a butterfly on my wrist. Small and tasteful, and I haven't regretted it in the four years I've had it. It was my graduation present to myself
  3. Not to be overly pedantic, but shouldn't it me masochistic? Or do refs need to like hurting others?
  4. "The worst evil that you can do, psychologically, is to laugh at yourself. That means spitting in your own face." ~Ayn Rand I don't like political correctness, and unless I see drastic repercussions (i.e losing my job) then I say what I want, when I want to. I refuse to stop using expressions such as 'the pot calling the kettle black' just because wing-nut activists think it is somehow a racist comment. I don't go out of my way to offend, but nor to I pander to the intellectual canaille by using silly euphemisms. The beauty of being gay, is that nobody can ever tell me that 'I don't know what it's like to be a minority...' Menzo
  5. Yes - it all depends on the person you are dealing with. I am sensitive, and 'thin skinned' to criticism from people I respect, but I don't give a damn what most of the morons around think about or say to me. I imagine the same is true for published authors; they must take criticism from noted literary critics far more seriously than that which is found on websites like yahoo. I may or may not be making sense here... In short, don't take to heart the things said by people you don't respect (or at least whose opinions you don't respect) and you can be both thin and thick skinned. Menzo
  6. I don't believe in ghosts, the divine or anything 'supernatural.' I won't say you couldn't convince me otherwise, but it'd have to be a damn good proof for me to entertain the notion.
  7. Happy Birthday Vic!! Best wishes for this year, Menzo
  8. I didn't say he was ugly
  9. I don't believe pessimism is positive thinking, but I think it is a more realistic outlook on life. I'm not a Samuel Beckett, people-suck-always type of person, but I have very few expectations of people, and that has caused me to be rarely be disappointed by the stupidity of humanity.
  10. Attachments are difficult things, and I tend to avoid them as much as possible. There are very few people to whom I have significant attachment, because of the emotional vulnerability that goes along with attachments. I'm kind of 'all or nothing' in that regard; I either keep people at arms length or invest a great deal of myself in them. It is worth it, I think, to have a few attachments but betrayal or loss can completely devastate a person. To me, an attachment means investing a bit of yourself in that person, and that is something I am unwilling to do with most people. Interesting topic. Menzo

Yes, please do. Oh, and congrats
  12. I also suspect sex isn't high on her list of priorities either
  13. Not that it's really my business, but may I ask (and do I want to know) waht a 90% virgin is?
  14. I think that physical attraction is essential for a relationship. It's certainly the least important factor, but if I the idea of sleeping with my partner revolts me, then there is no room for a relationship with that person. Possibly a bit shallow, but it's how I feel.
  15. House is amazing. Watch it.
  16. "And I wonder which crime is the biggest. Forgetting you, or forgetting myself?" ~Alanis Morissette, 'Sorry to Myself' Compromises should ideally be about small things, like fatty foods. When I feel I have to change or hide my political/religious/etc beliefs, then the relationship is over. Beyond compromise, I think a relationship means unconditional acceptance of the other person, regardless of how you feel about the issue.
  17. Thank you! There is nothing wrong with guys who exfoliate.
  18. I had a one night stand last night with a guy I neither respect nor like.
  19. No, it's Gaspard Ulliel. He was in 'A Very Long Engagement' and 'Hannibal Rising'
  20. The guy in my avatar is Gaspard Ulliel, and yes is he a French actor. He is also insanely cute.
  21. Does that really count? I mean, I challenge anyone to put on eyeshadow and foundation without making some funny faces in the process
  22. That is...mildly bizarre. Well, the thing at the passport photo booth was. I have never really felt the inclination to make faces in the bathroom mirror, but I suppose it is as good a pastime as any in the bathroom.
  23. Speaking of British comedies, I should add Keeping Up Appearances and The Vicar of Dibley to my all time favs.
  24. Now: 1) House 2) Criminal Minds 3) Grey's Anatomy Ever: 1)Seinfeld 2)Frasier
