  1. Yup that we are :-)
  2. Agliophobia, a fear of pain.
  3. Alas, the existence of pen pals, whilst appealing indeed, is naught but myth.
  4. Wow, this is an amazing song. I really like Mary Chapin Carpenter so when i saw you posted this I went looking for it. Anyway, here are the lyrics to one of my all time favorite songs, also by her: Ten Thousand Miles Fare thee well My own true love Farewell for a while I'm going away But I'll be back Though I go 10,000 miles 10,000 miles My own true love 10,000 miles or more The rocks may melt And the seas may burn If I should not return Oh don't you see That lonesome dove Sitting on an ivy tree She's weeping for Her own true love As I shall weep for mine Oh come ye back My own true love And stay a while with me If I had a friend All on this earth You've been a friend to me
  5. I beleive in give and take relationships: you give, and I take. I would consider it, but I would need a compelling reason why his desire for marriage was more important than my desire to remain unmarried. I'm not ruling it out, but I'd say it's unlikely. Menzo
  6. I don't want to get officially married because I disagree with the foundations of the instution and what it stands for. It may have evolved, but I still don't see why I'd want to enter into something that, for all practical purposes (well most), has no relevance. Having some priest/minister/public official pronounce marriage does nothing to validate people's love for one another. And I don't buy the whole 'it's nice to declare our love' argument. If you need to declare it to other people, then you tacitly admit that how they view you and your spouse is important. If you love someone, the world does not need to be made aware. As for marriage defined as a permanent relationship, I'm not actively against it. That said, I think I'd grow bored of waking up beside the same face for twenty odd years. But that might change, so I leave myself open to the possibility. Menzo
  7. The perfect wedding is no wedding at all.
  8. No, I meant it in a good way. I smelled like him for an afternoon.
  9. Mine is the name of a city from a series of fantasy novels I read as a kid. I've always liked the name, especially the shortened version. Menzo
  10. Yeah, so I wore his jacket the other day (the guy who caused me to start this thread) and I have never been so attracted to myself
  11. A bottle of wine, a double date with Ben & Jerry and some quality time alone. Or, depending on the reasons, I'll drown myself with work and try to not think about it; that's the scary kind. Menzo
  12. This is a topic that has come to have far too much relevance to my own life at the moment... Dating friends is logically not a good idea, but then again, matters of the heart are too rarely governed by logic. Life would much less complicated if we could just think rationally about realtionships. Menzo (who's talking to himself...sorry)
  13. The most annoying difference I've noticed since moving to England is the different terms for what Americans call 'pants' and the Brits call trousers. I'm in the habit of saying it in the American fashion, which can be awkward since pants here is what Americans would call panties or underwear. Menzo
  14. They say that smell is the most evocative of the senses (even years later, the odors of our childhood conjure up vivid memories) but I've never really found that a person's distinctive scent is a turn on, until now. The other day I was sitting next to a friend of mine to whom I've always been attracted, and when he stood up and I caught his scent, I was floored. I've never, ever had such a visceral reaction (I was quite literally lightheaded) to someone's smell before. Has anyone else had this sort of reaction to a person's smell? Menzo
  15. All the more reason to hate people in general. It works well for me. I like just about everything that comes with being gay. In fact, I can't think of a single thing I don't like. Even the prejudice just reaffirms my misanthropic tendancies. Menzo
  16. You might be waitng awhile, Kevin dear.
  17. I've done the friends with benefits thing before, but the friendships were never close ones. Without the benefits, we likely wouldn't have been friends. That said, the guy I'm dating now went from a friend to a friend with benefits to a boyfriend. Menzo
  18. I'm glad your prom went well. I'm not particularly masochistic, so I didn't go to my own prom. As the nerdy fifteen year old fag, I wasn't exactly in line for homecoming king. Menzo (who's just a touch bitter)
  19. Once again, I mustg agree with you James. I work with a large number of vegetarians, so I come into contact with them regularly. I am not, and would never be a vegetarian. I love meat and don't really see the point of not eating it. It is illogical and contrary to human evolution. Menzo
  20. Happy birthday Graeme! You're not over the hill yet...just very close to the top
  21. Thanks guys! 21 would be a little more exciting if I were still in the US. But it's fun nonetheless. Sorry Kevvers, I've been really busy with a new bf (well, not new anymore, I guess) and a new job, but I will try to make it here more often. Cheers! Menzo
  22. I am free of all prejudice. I hate everyone equally. I picked the relationship with myself, because that's the only one I have that is unconditional.
  23. I have nothing but disdain for the entire institution of marriage. I doubt I will ever be married, just as I doubt I will ever find someone I wish to spend my entire life with.
  24. Never explain yourself. Your friends don't need it, and your enemies wont believe you anyway. I ask no one's approval, and I don't justify the stereotypes I fit or don't fit. Menzo
