Needing large amounts of sleep must be an aftereffect of being changed into a vampire. That or vampires sleep so deeply that they don’t wake at things that used to wake me all the time. I had already processed my memories; I had originally thought them dreams, but I wasn’t shocked by Scott’s statement. It actually brought me some peace and some resolution. Dakota's use of both Sioux and Navajo names for dragon were meant to say that he knows. I suppose I should add a Navajo dictionary.

I LOVE that you're all interested in the original story. I will not link it publicly, nor will I mention the site. I will share it in private, but I BEG you, do not share spoilers in comments here. If you've read up to Chapter three, you know that there are already major changes, and there will be many more. I'm using the original as more of a 'suggested' outline than an actual storyline. And all your kind words have me quite humbled. I REALLY have to say that without the help of @masterchief429, the rewrite would be much less entertaining.

My own. The original story is 104 chapters long and I wrote the first 70 or so over my winter vacation a few years ago. I wrote it with no outline or plan in mind, just writing whatever came to mind. I wanted to avoid the 'traditional' vampire lore and leave open the possibility that we do live among you.

I appreciate the comment, and I can agree. The problem is that if I had posted it without the tag, then sprung fangs in a later chapter, I would get complaints as well. I didn't know which was the more honest approach. HONEST, fangs are coming, albeit my own take on vampire lore. Thanks for sticking it out. I DO hope the wait is worth it.

SO glad you feel it read smoothly. I was concerned that I included too much 'business' and not enough 'story'. We're racing toward the crisis. I will say that much. The next two chapters have a bit more 'business' feel, but there's still character development and story progress.
