    Not too long a wait, as I said above. But what about between chapters 13 and 14? At least 13’s bombshells are mostly resolved in that chapter. Mostly.

    All true. Unless she blacked out the worst of it. I can’t imagine anything worse than a backyard abortion. But even I’m not deranged enough to go there. No comment. But I do like to change things up a bit. The parents may actually go free on a technicality. Hehe

    Speculation all over the place. All I will say is you have less than 20 hours to wait until a lot of it is resolved. Of course, that doesn’t mean more won’t be shared. I might have to revisit Eve. I hadn’t really given her another thought. Good idea. I wonder…. And this raised another question I hadn’t previously considered. Where was 4-year-old Nick at this time? Oh there will be flashing lights. Not sure about any going out.

    Thursday came and with it came Steve’s MRI. The doctors weren’t taking any chances with a possible head injury, scheduling it immediately. The initial findings were negative for any anomalies. A follow-up visit with the pediatrician was scheduled for November fourth. Friday, Brendan was surprised when Stephanie Lawson showed up for the next CPS check-in. “Hi Stef.     South Carolina. You remember correctly, there was some speculation that the family had to move quickly for some reason. I didn't confirm anything then, and I'm still not confirming or denying anything about that. The MRI happens in the next chapter and preliminary results are shared.

    I'm glad you're seeing it as healing. I'd hate to be ripping open old wounds. Even though this is just a story, I don't think anything in it is out of the realm of possibility.

    So far, Brendan and Skylar have met in a bar, perhaps to discuss the children without them around as far as anyone knows, and Skylar spent an afternoon at the house, watching Brendan interact with friends and family. Again, as far as anyone else knows. I don’t think there’s any danger yet. The water bottle will indeed come back into discussion. Thanks. You may rethink that opinion after the next chapter, hehe.
