    Wednesday September 21 Time goes by slowly when you're lying in a hospital bed without a whole lot to do. Mom brought me a couple books, but that gets boring after a while. I've been trying to write some lyrics, but everything is coming out dark. No surprise there, I guess. I don't know which emotion is strongest in my mind right now. Hate? Yeah, that's up there. If I ever find out who did this to me, I'd love to return the favor. Depression? Yep, got that too. Maybe I should write a song -

    If you've read any of my other stories, you'll know that I deal pretty harshly with the homophobic characters. I see no diversion from the norm in this case.     Tuesday September 6 It's the first day back at school. Apparently, a LOT of kids in my class have gone to see our shows. Everywhere I turn, someone is congratulating me, telling me how great the band is, telling me which one of our original songs they like best. The thing that surprises me the most is when I sit down for lunch, the table I'm at fills up completely, as do the tables to either side.     Monday July 25 We met Michelle at Midtown's office/studio after determining it was in a strip mall. We immediately weren't impressed, but none of us were really surprised. Michelle started the first recorder before we entered. We walked in the main door and there was a small area, maybe 8 feet deep and the 15 or so feet wide the storefront was. A woman was sitting at a desk, blowing on her nails. Besides the desk, her chair, three more chairs and a small filing cabinet, the room was empty.

    Friday July 15 It's time for the show at Garson's. I've been nervous all day, not because of the show of course. I'm on another plane when I'm on stage. Ant and I agreed to tell the rest of band about us. I've been going back and forth in my mind, if it's a good idea or not. I called Ant again about an hour ago, he's still sure we should do it.     @Hero, I understand your point. My idea of fiction is it doesn't have to be believable, and actually it's better if it isn't. One of my pet peeves is when people review a movie, comments like 'they didn't use yellow stripes on their uniforms in 19xx' or 'those two roads don't intersect' or anything that is real but has no impact on the story. I try to add a few real references so people can follow, like Middletown, Red Bank, Atlantic Highlands all actually exist, but there's no Garson's Hideout. If Garson's Hideout is believable since it doesn't exist, why can't anything else? Perfectly understand what you are saying though. @Tris, eyes on your own paper, how did you get a look at Chapter 3? 😁

    Tuesday June 21 Monday's practice went well. We were all a little anxious about Keith's review. Rich, our resident pessimist wondered if he was just buttering us up to get our permission to write the review, not that he really needed it, and was going to skewer us in print. Keith did say our crowd size would change, not specifically grow. So that hid any anxiousness between Ant and me.     My idea of the Romanos, Hero, is of a traditional, Italian Catholic family. Old traditions important to them. Mostly. Being dated is kind of intentional. I don’t know why I picked exactly 1988 for the timeframe, but I used the old fashioned, less modern world so I could avoid cell phones, the internet, etc. Dan, you’ll have to wait a bit on getting clear on RB. But some details are on their way.

    Why is that when things are going well, something really awful happens? Or maybe it's better to ask why when things are going well, do I make an awful decision?
