Well, @Lee Wilson, knowing your twists and turns, I wouldn't be surprised if those two fingers miraculously grow up, thanks to some new invented medical procedure! 😂

Alex should grow up and mature! His low self-esteem is product of his low performance in school. Seems like it's easier to be a school clown and troublemaker than invest in education and something productive. He is intelligent but waist his time and energy which effects his relationship with his family as well as Blair. Enough self-pity Alex, do something about it (yourself)!

Bass - a road from ugly duckling to beautiful swan! 😉 Ok, maybe not a beautiful swan, more like a hot bull! 😁 Rocky - I suppose it is the universal truth that people don't value something (someone) enough until almost losing it!

I think Phil, Eloise and Rodger are all victims. They are victims of the society and time they lived in. Victims of the expectations of others, homophobia and hostile surroundings. If we step in shoes of any of them, we could find reasons and justifications of certain actions. We are still expecting Roger's story to have a complete picture but, according to what we already know, he is not an opportunist waiting for his father inheritance. He is deeply hurt and, I believe he doesn't want to have anything with his father, money and assets including. Yet, in a beautiful metaphor already mentioned by my fellow readers, @Ronyx moves his characters from a stormy day to a sunlight, leaving us hope that there are 'Bridges to yesterday' (just to mention one of my favorites @Ronyx's novels). In this chapter, our author touches some other issues beside homophobia and health - social differences, racial issues, love and relationship in an older age. It reminds me once again, how many levels this story has and how universal its topics are.

This amazing, coming of age story brings the journey of Pete, gay boy, disowned by his mother, finding acceptance and support from his paternal uncle George. Finding himself in new surroundings, new school and friends, Pete has to choose between staying true to himself and his principles or fit in homophobic society. Instead of choosing an easy road, Pete is not changing himself, he is changing the world! So, Pete is who he is, but with his arrival, little town of Elko becomes a much better place! I truly recommend this novel and look forward to the sequel.

Oh Mitch, first honest words from the start of the story but - a too little, too late! 'I like sex. Maybe too much. I like topping.' Really?! No shit!!! What a road for Pete...being pariah in his own home, banished from mother, he sticked to his principles bravely protecting himself as well as others in need. A true hero! Happiness with new dad in new home is well deserved! I'm eagerly waiting the Book 2!

'Resigned' is ok for now. For an old Italian lady, with traditional upbringings, Catholic heritage, expectations of a big family...it went rather well. As long as Dante provide grandchildren, even from a little glass jar and Vaughan has secured incomes... 😂

Seems that bar incident is just a practice for what is waiting Manny in his new life! Regarding Rocky...well, I really don't know where all that homophobic shit comes from, but he will have to learn that getting and keeping good friends in his world is very difficult! He will be happy to have someone brave and honest to watch his back (actually watch this time, thank you 😉 ), regardless the skin color, ethnicity, gender, sexuality...

Beautiful!!! Some people are just born to be parents, and there are some that don't deserve their children! It is nice how Andre and Chris are spreading their network of friends. Their positive energy simply attracts good people, and they are here to help each other - connected by love, compassion and support!

Uncle George and Officer Farley?! Oh...don't mind me, just 'dirty thoughts'! 😉

These situations where Pete interacts with other people (friends or adults), remind me that, beside all his maturity and uniqueness, he is still a kid! He is so open and honest, almost naive when speaks about his past, sexuality, mother...with all unpleasant details somebody else would hide. Pete's communication with others is still not shaped or limited by social norms or customs - he is like an 'open book'! It is so charming and nice that, despite difficult life, he hasn't lost innocence of a child.

I think it's because he is beneficiary, not an employee.

Amazing story, even without announced epilogue, this story is actually finished. It is only pity that we cannot put review and award it with as many stars as possible. Witty humor, excellent writing style, deeply human story of two guys who has been rewarded with second chance for happiness.

I LOVE the mother! Another one of your colorful characters! These ladies are more perceptive than MI6! No wonder Aghata Christie gave the main role one of her detectives to an old lady - Miss Marple! 😁
