  1. I just bought their "Us and Them" album. Thanks. Apparently they've got a new album coming out in June.
  2. If the federal authorities find out who he is can't he be detained as a terrorist and denied any rights at all; including a phone call? "Barney" might be an asshole, but he's still a cop. I just don't see this as a valid scenario.
  3. When I'm done working for the day the last thing I want to do is spend more time at the computer playing games. I am totally clueless about computer-based strategy games.
  4. Go for it CJ. That's what I do here using RAID 1 (mirrored disks) and three HDs. You can use more than three HDs but three is enough for me. If one drive dies the others keep on working.
  5. Maybe. But you still need to move away from there. As small as that town is everyone would know what you'd done in a matter of hours and then you'd be the town pariah. On the brighter side, at least you'd have found a guy who was willing to kiss you. And you know where that can lead?
  6. But we all know goats never go anywhere near cliffs.
  7. Am I correct that even though Dimitri isn't aware of it there is no longer any point in killing Instinct because they've already shared what they know with the military? The whole point of Dimitri killing Instinct was to prevent them from telling anyone what they knew or at least suspected.
  8. Oh well. Clearly I'm not on top of my game today. I'm going back to beta-reading and editing. I should know better than to try and do too many things at once.
  9. Oh. It's OK to poke fun at BK. He can take it. What about using an RPG? Does it have enough power to take out everyone in the main house? I'll bet Jerry has one or two hidden in the hole in the wall where Dimitri got his original weapons from. All he needs to do is get back there before the military does.
  10. How could he hurl it two miles? It would have to be a RPG in which case there's not much chance of it bouncing back.
  11. Thanks so much for sharing that bit of info with us Nick. I'm glad I ate lunch before reading your blog instead of while I was reading it.
  12. It's not like I haven't offered to help in that regard.
  13. In other words, it might bounce back and kill Dimitri? I don't see what the problem is!
  14. You need to understand I have never disputed that Helen is the perfect manager for our boys. At the same time I have always, from the very beginning of LTMP, thought she was a bitch. So, yeah, while she's dog like in her tenacity and shrewdness, those are the same qualities that make her a bitch. That's my story and I'm still sticking to it.
  15. I hadn't considered that scenario, Benji. Considering the high state of readiness the military is at right now it might be hard to get that kind of weapon into the US unless it's already here. But I'm sure it wouldn't be impossible.
  16. Uh huh? Why does this remind me of that old Saturday Night Live, "Shark at the Door", series? Doorbell rings. Homeowner: "Who's there?" Shark: "Pizza delivery." Homeowner: "I didn't order a pizza!" Shark: "Flowers for the lady of the house." Homeowner opens the door and the shark devours her. My point? There's a squadron of angry bikers with guns guarding our boys and the bitch. I'd love to see what kind of KGB training would have prepared Dimitri for this scenario! Surely he's not going to waltz up to the front door and try to pull off some scam to get him close to everyone he needs to kill!
  17. I'll dare to risk a summarization of the major point so far. We're unique but we're also still burdened with the same flaws and failings everyone else is. I guess that makes us humans just like everyone else. So, are we really that unique?
  18. Hehe. You're nowhere near as old as you thought you were. While my first personal computer was that TI I mentioned, the first computer I worked with was an NCR Elliott 4120 mainframe back in 1970 even though that series wasn't officially introduced until 1971.
  19. I know how you feel, Steph. And I knew there had to be some deeper reason why I like you so much. I'm so used to my friends thinking I'm weird that it would be weird if they didn't feel that way, LOL. Tim's suggestions were good. I haven't had a chance to sample any of them on iTunes yet. I got so carried away with Nick's great suggestion that I spent all evening listening to albums. A few people PMed me about Limp Bizkit. I guess I'll sample the song you mentioned and if I like it I'll buy the album. My music collection was getting rather dated as well. Thanks to the suggestions I've gotten here it's getting more and more up to date. So far I've added, Audioslave, Gasoline, Rage Against the Machine, Theory of a Deadman and Three Days Grace to my collection. Oh and that one Nick mentioned that requires spoiler tags, LOL. Not bad for an oldster like me, huh? LOL It looks like I'm all set to beta-read a sci-fi story about zombies tomorrow! Thanks everyone. If you all have any other suggestions please share them with me.
  20. One thing I like is being slightly unique when compared to the rest of the population. If you go by the statistics only 10% of the population is like me when it comes to being gay.
  21. Mind in the gutter again, Jan? BTW, my bad. My first personal computer was a Texas Instruments 99/4A. My first real personal computer was an Apple II and it did eventually have a bus card that expanded the RAM from 16KB to 32KB.
  22. I'm glad you used the spoiler tags, Nick. I sampled some of the songs on the album the song you mentioned is on and the only thing I could think of was this has got to be the funniest album I've ever heard. If people don't get the comedy in this music they are seriously brain damaged. I bought the album. Thanks.
  23. No doubt for maximum access, too!
  24. Both Graeme's and Tim's comments are exactly why I suggested CJ take a break from writing for a little while. Do what Jack Scribe is doing and enjoy some downtime. Then write your entire story before you start to release it. At that point a chapter a week is reasonable. Please don't push yourself to get all these great ideas ve swirling around in your head into coherent stories all at once. I'd rather go for a few months with nothing new from you than risk you getting burned out and maybe even lose the desire to write.
  25. Dude, my first personal computer had a total of 16KB. That had to hold the OS, the program and the data. I managed to write my first forum software in that amount of space. It's one of the reasons I still write tight code today when so many programmers pay no attention to their bloatware monstrosities.
