  1. How do you know they haven't had one already?
  2. John and Robbie, I'm so happy for both of you. You are both such great young men and you certainly deserve each other.
  3. I hope you sleep well and feel better in the morning.
  4. I have a lot of respect for you Bob. You are always thoughtful and kind when we disagree about something. I must however respectfully take exception to the highlighted point you made. I can't imagine how a simple "thanks for your story" is useless. Based on the experiences I've had with the authors i work for, and my friends who are authors, there isn't a one of them who doesn't appreciate a simple comment like that. It lets them know someone appreciates their efforts.
  5. This should be pinned, and somehow linked to from every story Kev. Readers need to know that being greedy is unacceptable. Our authors take a lot of time writing their stories, getting them beta-read, edited, sometime zeta-read. It's not like these stories just suddenly appear out of nowhere. Lots of time, effort and emotion goes into every single story. If someone gives you something for free it's considered common courtesy to thank that person. Why should it be any different here? Readers, please consider the feelings of the authors whose stories you're reading. Look at it this way. How would you like it if lack of feedback made your favorite authors give up writing because nobody bothers to comment on their stories?
  6. I wasn't aware there was a debate going on here. I tend not to visit the political forums on GA cause that's not why I'm here. I'm here to read, beta-read and edit stories. I do my political debating elsewhere. If you need some help in a debate here I guess the least I can do as your friend is help you out. I'm not sure how you feel about NAFTA so having me join in the debate may or may not be a good thing for you. But at least you'll get an intelligent and informed opinion.
  7. Thanks Nick! 1. I'd rather be deaf. I can't imagine not seeing my computer screen and I hate noise. So it's really a no-brainer for me. 2. I walked in on my parents once. It scarred me for life. I've also had them walk in on me. The later is preferable. 3. I could not make out the name of the second choice. As much as I love Ozzie's music I'm sure the second choice has got to be a better one. Regarding NAFTA: If you try to decide the merits of NAFTA based on a pseudo-debate between an extremist and a lunatic (I'll let you decide who is who) you're going to arrive at a flawed conclusion. Surely you can find better sources of information to help you decide.
  8. Don't ever be afraid to state your opinion Nick. Even when dealing with people who are obviously content in their ignorance.
  9. Yes, a tease. And one who is standing way too close to the edge of a cliff for his own good cause I'm in the mood to give you a hard kick in the behind and see if goats can fly.
  10. Going back and making changes in the posted text is fine with me. I'm sure there are way more people who have yet to read LTMP than have already read it. They should gain from what you've learned via posting it and getting feedback from your fans. As for your last line all I can say is you're being a tease as usual.
  11. I'm glad you're not mad. I suppose if you're going to miss the school you loved for 14 years it's fine to mention it as long as you're not implying it's somehow less significant than graduating in general. Either way you know I'm proud of you kiddo.
  12. That was weird. John quoted my message but didn't add any comments of his own. I hope you're not mad at me John. Ben, I suppose that could be the case. It's just that to me it seems like putting a qualifier on his graduation somehow makes it seem less significant than it really is. Graduating is a big deal and IMO there is no need to qualify it at all.
  13. John, you know I'm happy for you for reaching this milestone because I've already told you that. But what you just stated makes me kind of angry. Why do you feel a need to qualify your graduation as being from deaf school? You are graduating...period.
  14. Ben, I had no idea you were deaf. It's amazing the things you learn about someone even after knowing them for awhile. I grew up with a cousin who was profoundly deaf and I learned early on that he needed to see my lips to understand what I was saying. To this day I don't even have to give it any conscious thought when we're talking. It was weird for awhile when we were kids because I'm used to someone looking me in the eyes when we're talking and Mitch always looks at my mouth. Eh, it's no big deal. He's one of my favorite cousins and he's an absolute blast to be around. Despite his deafness he has earned two college degrees dealing with psychology, so to me that proves being deaf is not a disability. A challenge perhaps. But certainly not a disability.
  15. Just how bad does the weather have to be? I've gone surfing during hurricanes. That does wonders for my attitude.
  16. The poor old goat is still in denial. GA members voted you the King of Evil Cliffhangers. You can choose to accept this appellation and be proud of it. Or you can pretend to deny it and let us see you as a cowardly goat who can't deal with reality. The choice is yours: pride or shame? Hmm...it's kind of like dealing with being gay!
  17. Other than showing you know how to copy/paste stuff from Wikipedia I'm not sure what the point of your blog entry is Nick. I've never known you to post a blog entry that didn't include some personal commentary. Also, what's with the Larry King excerpt that's nearly a decade old? Sorry bud. You know I like you. But I can't let you get away with turning into a slacker. That's just not your style!
  18. I will you forever and ever Steve! Erm, wait a minute. That doesn't work for me at all! Brotherhood to Implement Torture of the C*** known as Helen There. That works much better for me.
  19. You're quite right. Mythbusters on Discovery busted that myth several seasons ago.
  20. Oh wow. That's so cool. I wish I had an address I could send you a card, but I guess that wouldn't go over too well with your wife. Just remember all your friends at GA will be very happy for you. None more so than me!
  21. I strongly disagree Jamie. That probably puts me in the minority. I happen to like body hair. Especially running my fingers through it. That was one of my favorite things to do with my deceased partner. We'd just lay in bed together and I'd play with his body hair. I dunno. There was something primeval about it. It wasn't even a sexual turn-on. It just felt nice.
  22. I'm also celebrating the completion of Tim's DE:TP. It's been a lot of hard work. Much more so on his part than mine. But I feel so lucky to have been a part of it that I feel the need to celebrate too. What's 25 years this Saturday?
  23. Write an opera?
