    Prologue

Well, it had only been four days, so not a lot of anguish there. :-) Glad you're happy we're back with a new story!

You hit on an interesting point here, and that's the basic contrast between Will, who usually tries to do the right thing, and Zach, who usually does what's best for Zach.

LOL. Thanks. Will is a lightning rod for people, generally, but he's an important character...albeit a peripheral one in this story.

I'd shown Brent and Zach interacting, but never really defined their relationship, so it seemed appropriate.
  5. Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked the story, and appreciated the happy ending.

    Chapter 1

August 24, 2002 Paris, France Wade I smiled at Matt lovingly as we walked up the Champs Elysées toward the Arc de Triomphe. Ever since he’d come to Boston on August 11th and we’d officially become a couple again, I’d been so happy I’d felt like I was floating on a cloud. We had always had a tight bond, the same bond that kept pulling us back together even when we tried to be single. A bond that was as strong as steel. Only this time, it was even better. In the past, we’

    Prologue

August 7, 2002 Claremont, OH Zach “I have to go,” I said to Will, even as he pulled me in for another kiss. I had to go, but I didn’t want to go. I wanted to stay here in the condo with him. Actually, I wanted to go to the airport, get on the plane, and get the fuck out of here, but I couldn’t do that until tomorrow. I usually got what I wanted, but this time it wasn’t happening, and that made this even harder. “You think you’ll be able to come back later?

The CAP saga continues...J J and Zach: Two competitive sports, two athletes, both locked in the closet. Wade: Rebuilding his life with Matt Brad: Learning to be a single guy. Will: Being Will.
  10. That is so awful. Speechless. Just speechless.
  11. People are much more reasonable in real life...I wonder how a 'real life' person would have handled all the crap these guys have been through? I think you're missing a very key point here, and that was what JP said to Will as they were walking through Claremont. These people have been through hell since 9-11, and as JP noted, he made allowances for that. That Matt and Wade can agree that they both hurt each other, without doing a forensic accounting as you're trying to do, and can put those issues behind them and move on says a lot about how they've grown as people. I think it's a lot healthier to just acknowledge that you both fucked up, and move on, than trying to evaluate who was more wrong.

    Chapter 19

I took advantage of the fact that Walpole was replaced less than a year after this event to make him into a nitwit, when I'm fairly certain he was nothing of the kind IRL. Fiction is wonderful!
  13. Thanks Polly! I'm so glad you liked the story. I think that Wade and Matt have both evolved into (young) adults. I think that Zach and Will have major challenges ahead, not the least of which are their own changes. I wasn't the same person when I was 20 that I was when I was 16, or when I was 24 for that matter. Those two have a lot of life-changing experiences (college, for one) ahead of them.

    Chapter 19

October 21, 1799 HMS Valiant Lisbon, Portugal Granger was up at dawn, and since they would be refilling their water, he indulged in the luxury of a fresh water shower. Winkler helped him dress; putting on his best uniform, and then Granger had breakfast. He had just finished his meal when da Colma arrived. Granger greeted him warmly, and offered him breakfast, but da Colma politely declined. “Our plans for today have changed,” da Colma said.

Thanks Miles! I think it was important for us to see things from Matt's perspective. There truly are two sides to a story. While Matt was a cretin in 9.11, he had some good reasons, as did Wade when he was less-than-honorable in this story. I think that in the end, their mutual flaws made it easier for them to forgive each other. If it weren't for Wade's virtual melt-down of infatuation with Alex, they would have had a much harder time as a couple, because they wouldn't have really been 'equals'... Wade would have always had a bit of an upper hand because he was the wounded one. Now, that stigma is removed.
  16. Thanks for the review! You know, I think that if Wade and Matt hadn't spent this time apart they wouldn't have ended up together. I think they had to go through it, and feeling the love they had for each other combined with the pain of being apart, and they also had to mature and evolve as individuals.
  17. I love happy endings! We don't always get them, but this one was especially nice. Thanks for the review!
  18. Maarten, I'm glad you liked the story. I think the ups and downs make it more entertaining.
  19. In case you want to re-read the story (or parts of it), I've posted Flux as an e-book. You can find the thread here.
  20. Just an FYI, I have now loaded all of the completed stories into E-Book format and posted them here. The links are in the main message, above.
  21. The purpose of this thread is to let you know when I've uploaded one of the stories in e-book format, and to let you know if I've made any changes to the books. CAP Chronicles of an Academic Predator 1968 The Land Whore Be Rad Man in Motion A Summer Love If It Fits Bloodlines The Box Millennium Poor Man's Son Paternity 9-11 Flux BRIDGEMONT The Gunroom The Wardroom Master and Commander HMS Belvidera St. Vincent Odyssey
  22. Ace isn't in the story because he's not a very interesting character on his own...he's the proverbial support character. It really is impossible to track all the characters on a continuous basis, but I try to check in with them once in a while. Lou & Marcel and Max & Tim would also fall into that category.
  23. I love it when you do this! I understand why Poor Man's Son took the longest, because I had the toughest time with that one, with deciding exactly what to do with the last fourth of it. I'm not sure if Millennium was so fast because it had more cliffhangers (I try to post faster when those happen), or just because the storyline seemed to need it.
  24. I do, and I think it is. Hopefully you'll agree!
