    Chapter 60

Thanks very much, James. It helps that I have characters that I like. Then again, if I didn't, I'd just kill them off. ;-)

    Chapter 31

Hard to visualize that Marie is the source of the STD. For all we know, she's still a virgin.

    Chapter 31

I actually put Sessions in there as a nice contrast to the administrators Brad dealt with when he was outed. I loved The Godfather, so a good analogy. Marie as Fredo: LOL.

    Chapter 31

I think you're reading Noah right. He'd probably been crushing on Marie for years, and now that it's a reality, he's blind to pretty much everything else.

    Chapter 31

I think you're right about Stef: I don't think he'll find this entertaining in the least. He likes hearing about who's sleeping with whom, or plotting to sleep with someone. This is much too intense for him. And by the way, nice guess on the binoculars.

    Chapter 31

That is pretty low, but not unreasonable for high school, IMHO. The big question is IF Brad finds out. He's not exactly listening to Will right now, and Will has pretty much shut down around both him and Stef.

    Chapter 31

Probably a lot of fighting and yelling (but not too loudly if it's at Escorial).

    Chapter 31

A celebrity for Erik? Maybe Joey on "Friends" only a little smarter. LOL. I think that Kai is a loyal kind of guy, and he could probably do that, if he were in his mid-twenties.

    Chapter 31

Ah, guess again. Go review the chapters around the time Will is leaving Hawaii. This one's easy. :-)

    Chapter 31

I loved that scene as it played out in my mind, with Will casually holding up her vibrating purse. Like most things, out of some bad comes some good, and in this case, it seems like Will and John are tight again.

    Chapter 31

Something to ponder: we have a lot of guessing going on, but we have no idea how involved Marie really is in this thing. Evidence would definitely point at Kyle and Ferris in the bio-warfare thing, but did Marie know about that?

    Chapter 31

You raise an interesting contrast. Brad would have viewed it as an all-out war for social supremacy, and he'd be going at her like a lion. On the other hand, he would probably understand Marie's motives better than Will does.

    Yeah, that's a bit low.
  14. I can totally see that.

    Chapter 31

August 24, 2001 “You are up early, even for a school day,” Grand said as I walked into the kitchen. “I got roped into riding to school with John and Marie,” I said grumpily. “This is not how I want to start my school year.” “Surely you could have chosen to ride by yourself,” Grand said. “I didn’t want to be rude to Aunt Claire,” I said. “She asked me if I’d go along to help John feel comfortable.” “That is a good thing for you to do, and you se
  16. I think that wherever Wade lives, it's going to be important that he have horses around. If he ends up at UCLA, that may mean a commute, or that he has to live with old people.
  17. That's not how it happened, but the result is the same.
  18. As we have seen, authors can be a self-important bunch. There's one other thing to factor in to your situation, Ron. Sometimes authors just have shitty days, and a review hits them wrong. I've had that happen on two occasions, and alienated readers that I liked and respected, just because I approached it all with the baggage of my real life day. I think that reviews (and forum comments, where applicable) are the fuel of an author who posts here. When I notice review counts are down for a chapter I've posted, it has an impact. I wonder if people are still reading, or if the story has gotten boring. That introspection slows me down. But when I get a lot of feedback, I feel like readers are with me, anxious for what comes next, and that motivates me.

    Chapter 60

You sparked a thought in me, and that's that men like Humphreys, who were good, solid officers, could often linger in obscurity for lack of influence or glory. He was a good man.

    Chapter 60

I agree with you, I think that if Maidstone had survived, he would have devoted some resources to making Humphreys pay for his insolence. And while Humphreys would have been a rich man, he probably wouldn't have ended up with a command.
  21. Yeah. I'm running a little behind.

    Chapter 30

I think you're right about Noah, and he's in for some rough times when Marie dumps him. Then again, maybe she'll decide she likes him after all. Will is very much his own person, so in one sense, it should be easy to ignore them. On the other hand, if he truly feels threatened, that could get scary.
