    Chapter 53

I could be coy about Granger and Travers' father, but I won't. No fucking way. :-)

    Chapter 53

I am so glad you are enjoying your ribaldry, and the chapter. Crapballs? I wonder what colloquial era that comes from? LOL.

    Chapter 53

I'll bet CJ and I could do some whining about all the research we do, but I love it, and I know he does too. I suspect he'll dream up some new additional way to torment you soon enough. Let's hope so!

    Chapter 53

Sometimes evil can be fun. ;-) Not lethal. Only a little pain.

    Chapter 53

That was kind of an asshole thing to do. Sorry about that. I'll try to make it up to you and get the next chapter out a bit sooner.

    Chapter 53

A great friend? Unlikely. Granger will be bitter over the hardship Travers endured because of this man, and Old Man Travers wil simply be bitter.

    Chapter 53

The answers to many of your questions in the next chapter. :-) A small way? Granger's a size queen. :-)

    Chapter 53

Glad you liked it. I think it's fun when I can spawn a legacy character. :-)

    Chapter 53

July 16, 1798 Giza Granger could not stop the smile that spread across his face, nor did he try to. “It is good to see you both,” he said to Jardines and Jacobs. “I am just relieved we have caught up with Your Lordship,” Jardines said, smiling back. “I fear you move with great speed.” “Evidently you move even faster,” Granger said. “How did you get here?” “By camel, my lord,” Jacobs said with a frown, making them laugh.
  10. I think that at this point, Will doesn't really want anyone, but that doesn't mean he won't meet someone special. I think it will be a while before he really settles down, and most of the guys you listed (including Tony) have a lot of evolving to do, as does Will.
  11. The Million Dollar Highway in Colorado. That edge drops off a lot, and it's pretty damn close.
  12. That's such a good point. I can see times where it makes sense to vividly paint a scene or a person if you want the reader to fully embrace your vision of that character, but most of the time, I prefer to handle things this way, to let the readers build their own image of the character. I think this helps the reader make the story more personal (they can visualize someone they know, or have seen), and it makes the story flow better by omitting a lot of descriptive words that aren't really necessary.

    Chapter 52

Well, our hero is in Egypt in July, and the Battle of the Nile takes place on August 1, 1798. IMHO, the Battle of the Nile was the most decisive naval engagement of that era, and it can be argued that it was more decisive than even Trafalgar. In a flash, it changed the balance of power in the entire Mediterranean Sea and brought forth a new coalition against France. Yeah, I'll probably skip that one. ;-)

    Chapter 52

Our hero is quite versatile. I like versatile characters, because it gives them so many more options. ;-)

    Chapter 52

Granger could possibly pull off being a French officer, but his accent would most likely give him away if he was speaking to a true Frenchman. In any event, that comes with considerable risks, because if he is caught wearing civilian clothes or a French uniform, he's not a prisoner of war, he could be classified as a spy and shot.

    Chapter 52

Dead bodies to enforce discipline...probably seems like a strange concept to us, but back in those days, use of corporal punishment was considered the norm. Nelson and St. Vincent were both fierce disciplinarians, and didn't think twice about having a miscreant flogged. Collingwood was the interesting one, in that he rarely flogged a man.

    Chapter 52

As I was writing this seen, I could almost feel Granger's annoyance at Akbar's total lack of control over his men, and imagined him cringing at the absence of discipline. Proverbial nails on a chalkboard for George!

    Chapter 23

I didn't see Will having sex with Malcolm like you did. I definitely don't think Will was predatory, and I think if nothing else, the age difference helps Will's case here. If Malcolm would have said "no", or given Will a firm sign that he didn't want to have sex with him, Will would have backed off. We haven't seen Will break the "no means no" rule, and I don't think we will. That's not his style.
  19. I keep hearing that theme song of his...that music. LOL.
  20. This is one of the few songs where I like the remake better than the original. Good job.
  21. Alright, you all have completely stunned me. I loved all of the reviews I got, but I was waiting for that blast to hit, the total pelting, and it didn't come. I figured that Will letting Kai bareback him the first time they fucked, and after Will hadn't really known him that long, would get me some kick back.

    Chapter 23

I thought this was a good opportunity to expose Will to someone like Mano, and I think it shows a lot about Kai's character that he is a good, and devoted, son.
  23. Mark Arbour

    Chapter 23

Thanks! I visualize Mano as being more like Frank Hayes than anyone. Quiet, gruff, and masculine.

    Chapter 23

I think you hit on something here that Will has encountered before (with Noah) where he runs into people who aren't wealthy, and are struggling, but they're proud, and not always receptive to largesse. In this case, I think he needs to be careful with Kai's family, because they may be just that kind of people. The other lesson he could take away from time with them is that they're happy with each other despite not having money.
