    Chapter 3

There's a big difference between royalty and nobility. Granger's a noble. A Marquisate is much too grand for him a this time. Remember that his father couldn't even swing that promotion.

    Chapter 33

I think you're right on all counts.

    Chapter 33

I said they didn't find him on Oahu, not that they didn't find him.
  4. We don't know what she was like when she was young. Regardless, the standards were different for women so it's hard to draw a good comparison.
  5. It doesn't work. Nice try though. :-)

    Chapter 3

April 10, 1797 Sir George Granger was indulging himself on this beautiful spring day, letting himself travel on the road to Brentwood with indecent speed. His horse cantered past a merchant’s cart, where the wind from man and beast, along with the thundering hooves, prompted a most ungentlemanly oath from the driver of the cart. Granger spared him little thought, but focused instead on the town that was coming up. He slowed his horse to a trot, and as soon as he was

    Chapter 2

Well, the risks were quite high, what with Yellow Fever and Malaria, not to mention the other dreaded diseases that were around. It wasn't unusual for ships sent to the Indies (West or East) to end up with a 50% mortality rate. On the other hand, the rewards could be great, so those with the need to risk the most (read: those without influence) were usually those who went to those parts of the world.

    Chapter 2

Why thank you! I will endeavor to curb some of my more blatant Americanisms, and hope that you'll humor me when I err.

    Chapter 33

That's a really good analogy for the story. Nice observation. JJ is pretty absorbed in his own life, and generally doesn't seem to spend a lot of time worrying about Will's issues. I think Will is probably fine with that.

    Chapter 33

Well thank you. And don't worry, I'll get a posting done for Odyssey soon.
  11. I'll bet you know the answer to that question ;-)
  12. Nick had an affair with his secretary. Very good. Tonto was born Gail Crampton.

    Chapter 33

You gave us some really apt observations. This one, though, makes me curious: I have some misgivings in the tactics used to get the alternate ID details and then sharing with everyone without Will being aware or and agreeing. I can't see that Wade did anything wrong in trying to get the info out of the guy. He didn't betray Will's trust. Will knows they're going to look for him. I think that as long as Wade doesn't violate a direct confidence, he's on solid ground.

Thanks! I'll keep hiding behind my anonymity. :-) Some good insights on Wade. I like it!

    Chapter 33

Thanks! Matt has been very consistent, especially in this story. He's arguing with Wade over the hockey team, something that he's almost elevated to a deity level, so I would be surprised if he wasn't upset about Wade missing a game. Besides, in college sports, even for a club team, it's pretty unusual for a player to miss a game (or a road trip) unless he's sick or injured. Wade not being there would be a big deal to Matt, the team, and especially to the coach, especially if they lose.

    Chapter 33

I think that Jeff spoke up because he was pissed off at Brad and Robbie and because he knew that Stef would have his back. Remember, as someone else pointed out, that Brad did fire Pat, and Jeff and Pat dated at one point. Also remember Jeff telling Stef that he did "everything he could" to get through to Brad. So I think Jeff is a little frustrated with them, and he knows he can get away with being bolder here.

    Chapter 33

LOL. I'm not trying to write cliffies; I think it has more to do with playing out a complex scenario in a serialized story. But for those of you who didn't vote for me, the torture will continue. ;-)
  18. You're about 7 chapters ahead of the story with some of your comments. I hope you won't stop making them. It's not unusual in a story like this to find people migrating toward one side in a conflict. I think that makes it fun. On the other hand, I think that sometimes people get their own idea about what a character is like, and then get upset when that character acts differently than they think he should have. I think it's important to remember that even people who have well-defined values can act differently in unique situations.
  19. I don't think Matt has grounds to complain about Wade sleeping with Jeff one way or another. Best since 1968? Well, thanks, but since I got a whole bunch of crap about that one, I'm not sure that's a compliment. I said they didn't find Will in Oahu. I didn't say they didn't find Will.

    Chapter 33

Thanks Tim. You're assuming they find Will in Oahu. They don't. (Insert evil emoticon).
  21. DIdn't I just say most of that? Sharon? Where are you when I need you? The last part is actually a little off. It has less to do with JJ's partying habits (I doubt anyone but JJ would worry about that anyway) and more to do with the fact that they have entirely different groups of friends. Will's group is more mature, and JJ is significantly dorkier. They're running with different groups. Brad and Ace didn't have that problem, because they ran with the same crowd.

    Chapter 33

October 15, 2000 Malibu, CA Wade None of us wanted to talk to Martin. I think we were all afraid that we’d actually kill him if we were in the same room with him. Stef had retired into Brad’s office, to presumably consult with JP on possible ways to locate Will. Brad and Robbie were still up in their room, probably trying to wrap their minds around how things went so badly, and then how to repair their relationship with Will, if they got the chance. I went back up to Will’s room

    Chapter 32

I'm such a sucker for a 'Godfather' reference. :-) I'm so glad you're enjoying the story.
