Why thank you. I love Canadians.

    Story

Thank you so much! I think Gabriel labored with some of the same choices we often have to make today.
  3. Thank you so much for your review, Renee. This story was actually a continuation of another anthology story, Furlough. Personally, I like Furlough better. I got the inspiration for these two stories when I was doing some reading about World War I. I'd found my grandfather's gas mask in some old family stuff, and put it on, along with his helmet. It was a very strange and claustrophobic feeling, and somehow made the horrors of the WWI battlefield seem all that more real.
  4. I don't know. That's why I'm asking.
  5. A little later than I'd hoped to post it, but the website was slow, and I was busy.

    Chapter 6

April 18, 1797 “I fear riding is difficult after last night,” Cavendish said to him as they trotted along in front of the carriages containing Their Lordships of the Admiralty. They made quite the convoy, with a detachment of mounted troops to dissuade any would-be bandits or others portending mischief. Granger grinned back at his reference to their sexual extravaganza. “I do not seem to share your problem. Perhaps we can address that issue later.” Cave
  7. Can Tiffany act in a paternal role? I wonder how that works for lesbian parents.
  8. Actually, before that we have JJ's competition in Norway. Foreign trips are usually calm and uneventful, though. You can clamor for a few more days, then you get some more insight into the Darius situation, but it really isn't too hard to figure out. His little brother is growing up, and Will isn't willing to be the little brother anymore. We don't really have a firm ( ) read on Carullo's sexuality. We can probably assume that since he had his own room, and seemed to have been there for at least a year when Matt and Wade were freshmen, that Carullo is a senior and they're juniors.

    Chapter 40

Matt will probably wonder about that himself. :-)

    Chapter 40

I'm not sure it's as much JJ as the skating that's drawing Tiffany back, but they are, at this point, pretty linked.

    Chapter 40

Yeah, we're in a calmer mode right now. Go ahead. Relax. I dare you. :-)

    Chapter 40

October 21, 2000 Santa Cruz, CA Wade They’d brought the big limo that had been built on a Chevrolet Suburban chassis, and that was a good thing, since there were four of us trying to stretch out and get comfortable. JP and Stef sat in the back, facing forward, and seemed content that things were working out with their dysfunctional family. Robbie and I sat opposite them, facing backward. I was sitting across from JP, and Robbie was sitting across from Stef. I allowed myself a pl
  14. It's so great to hear from you! You are amazingly resilient; I know you'll bounce back and handle these latest challenges, no matter what they are.

    Chapter 39

Thanks. I like writing Will, even though I get a lot of shit about him: He's too mature, he's too immature, he's too bratty (kids aren't supposed to be like that, etc.). That people seem so conflicted about him tells me I'm getting him just about right. ;-)

    Chapter 39

The calm before the storm? Perhaps. :-)
  17. It's a common name, and the first Jeff is long gone, so I figured it would be fun to throw that in. My original plan was to freak JP out, but I forgot how unflappable he is.

    Chapter 39

For the record, I like SCU too (I almost went there), but the issue was more about Will slamming Darius for being lame, and not a slam at the school itself. I laughed as I read the rest of the review, and just nodded, while saying "yep" repeatedly.

    Chapter 39

Well, anything is possible, but I think Darius' reaction is actually more typical than that, one of brothers fighting, like they do. They're growing up, and this is the beginning of them learning to interact as equals.

    Chapter 39

I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter! I think that everyone is coming around, especially Will and Tony.

    Chapter 39

I think Will is getting some stability back, and the scene with Darius probably illustrates the more than anything.

    Chapter 39

I'm glad you liked it, but sorry you got busted. Oops. ;-) I think that first semester of college is a major growing experience for most students. Schools in the Midwest (especially St. Louis) can be pretty narrow in their demographic. Tony went to an all-boys Catholic school. Stanford would be just a bit different. ;-)
  23. I'll second that, with a special shout-out to Jeremy (Methodwriter). Congrats!!
  24. Thanks everyone! I had a really nice birthday, even though I had to share it with Mother's Day.

    Chapter 39

That's a good point. Will's been dealing with abandonment, and while we've focused on his issues with Brad, and to a lesser degree Robbie, Darius is gone as well.
