Zach has always been willing to be brutal and cruel to get what he wants. I have to believe that one of Will's primary attractions to him was that despite this, he treated Will well (until recently) and loved him in his own way. I think it was JP who said that he thought that Zach could be ruthless but once he had pulled someone into his inner circle, he could be quite loyal.

Spot on. We saw this when they were in Santa Cruz (at various times). No one could make anything more difficult than Mac and Cheese except Tony, who cooked an amazing meal.

I agree with you. I don’t think it was a maturity issue. At breakfast, Zach basically told Will he was powerless when dealing with Zach. I expect that Will thought he deserved better, but he’s also his father’s son and understands that he needs Zach to realize that isn’t true. He knows that if he gives Zach control of their relationship he’s basically fucked.
