    Chapter 75

That’s not a good metric to determine if Brooklands is good at his job or not. Lady Kendall may have 4 times the holdings Granger does, but only produces twice as much money.

Actually that is understated. Pure inflation calculations are tough across that many eras.

  5. June 26, 1801 London, UK Granger, Cavendish, Scruggs, Daventry, and Rosslyn were enjoying a light conversation in the drawing room when their attention was distracted by Cheevers. “Their Graces, the Duke and Duchess of Suffolk,” his deep voice boomed as Granger’s parents walked into the room. Granger strode over to them and gave his father a rather cold and stiff greeting, while he was much more effusive with his mother. “I am so glad you could work dinner and these other

    Chapter 70

March 9, 2004 Palo Alto, CA Will “Were you planning to ride with us?” Stef asked. They were taking the big Escalade limo up to the City for the Board meeting at the Schluter Foundation. “I think I’ll drive myself,” I said. “I’ve got some plans afterwards.” “Plans?” Jake asked playfully. “Tentative plans,” I corrected. “I’m going to try to catch up with Tony and Mason.” “Why don’t I ride up with you?” Dad suggested. “I’ll hitch a ride back

    Chapter 74

You are absolutely right about Castlereagh's father. Thanks. I changed it. I was thinking of Lord Hawkesbury for some reason. Which brings us to the second part. Lord Liverpool, at this date, was Hawkesury's father, and while Hawkesbury was some 6 years older than Granger, Lord Liverpool was approximately 45 years older than Granger.

  12. June 26, 1801 London, UK Granger sat back in his carriage as it spirited him towards his home. He had studied the financial records Caroline had left for him and had learned that his liquid money was in Coutts bank and the Bank of England, while he also had a considerable amount in consols. He’d gone into the City this morning to meet with bankers and brokers to ensure they understood that Caroline was no longer allowed to access his accounts and

  15. June 24, 1801 Portland Place London, UK “This is a most refreshing break in the day,” Daventry said, as he relaxed back into the soaking pool. “I discovered the wonders of bathing in Antigua, and have integrated it into my life ever since,” Granger said, as he let the warm water soothe his frayed mind. “It is most enjoyable when I return from a voyage and my skin feels like it is saturated with salt.” “I would think the fact that it makes you smell bett

    Chapter 69

March 8, 2004 Palo Alto, CA Will My phone was ringing and that was dragging me out of a sound sleep. I’d gotten back from meeting with Casey, come back to my room, and crashed. I grabbed my phone, saw that it was Travis, and answered it. “Hey,” I said. I could hear the grogginess in my own voice, and he heard it too. “Dude, I am sorry I woke you up,” he said. “I’ll get up for you anytime, big guy,” I said in a s

  18. I’m not seeing Reece. Her features aren’t pointy enough. Maybe Meg Ryan? Or Kaitlynn Olsen? If Jack is John’s father, we have to backfill a bit since John’s supposed to look like Colton Haynes.

I think most of that depends on how Granger acts. He could end up in a duel with Stewart, or he could ignore it. Regardless, the way society was structured back then, men were only shamed if there were dire consequences. George has all the cards here. If he divorces Caroline, it is probable that she will not see her children again. (Below) I never noticed that, but you’re right!
  20. June 24, 1801 Portland Place London, UK After his meeting with the King, Granger had opted to detour back to his home. Based on Caroline’s reluctance to yield on the issue of Lord Heathford’s title, and his agreement to renounce it on behalf of Alexander, Granger knew that his actions were all but a declaration of war against his wife. He had not planned for such a battle so soon, but since it had been engaged, he needed to be prepared. Cheevers was waiting f
