I was surfing around the web and came upon an interesting quote that touched my heart: It's about a guy, who can not love, so must let that person go. Yet, paradoxically, if he could start the entire thing over again, he'd love this person with all his heart. "if you can't give happiness to the person you love, you should let them go. But if we can start over, I would choose to keep you, use all my strength, and give you happiness." I like emotional paradoxes; it reveals more about humanity than straightforward words and actions; sure Romeo and Juliet can die for one another, but can they not live in spite of each others' "supposed" death, which is actually more likely the real world case.

From the little household budget of a thousand dollars a month to a small business with millions a month to a Corporation with billions a month to a nation with hundreds of billions a month, everyone makes hard choices. An economy is not fair, not equal, and not even efficient, when you actually look deeper at it. Sure you can use plots and algorithms to figure out general Alphas to Delta trends that makes things easy to project and look smooth on the eyes, but human reasoning is not always rational, nor is long term planning. The problem with modern budgeting is that we make "assumption" and try to live by an "assumption" with "accuracy" being the quality indicator. Problem with projections, you can't predict the future without actually interfering with your operations or current expenses. I want to buy a new computer right now, but do not want to pay financing over a long period of time. I shelled out $1,000.00. That's a personal finance decision, but it will also affect the future spending for the next few months. I need to save money for Christmas shopping in November, so in September and October, I am spending less on food products. Less meat and vegetables, more peanut butter and bread. I am also cutting out on my favorite treat, a Starbucks Mocha blend coffee. Suppose others do the same, Starbucks will register a lower than expected monthly income statement and it starts to worry their senior management. They fear they cannot meet their budget "assumptions", so they choose to close down a few shops to reduce overhead costs. For them, they have to maintain profitability to stay in business and even meet obligations without having to dig too deeply into their bank loans and financing options. Since Starbucks is closing down shops, local government are losing property taxes. They are worried about whether they can keep up their obligations towards law enforcement, teachers, and city workers. They start to panic a little as they cannot exceed their budget "assumptions", because they have no cash to work with and lending options are not great for municipal loans. They start firing people. Around now, the State and Federal government is supposed to be getting their estimated income taxes for quarterly and normal payroll withholding. As Starbucks has cut down on workers and local government is cutting people, they are collecting less money. Since the federal government has an obligation to the states, they are going to face variances from people, business, and states. Maintaining a budget is not easy, nor is it simple for any person or group. Living without a budget runs the risk of losing everything, but living with a budget restricts your choices to only methods of reduction in order to meet "budget".

So what is your favorite futuristic weapon? How real is it? This is such an interesting Youtube video, plus all the Babylon 5 references and physics equation. Lasers actually suck in reality, the ultimate weapon of the future is based on kinetic energy, which is cool:

Human beings are still animals beneath the vestments of civilization. We still like sports brawls and hunting despite other factors like communication and plentiful food supply. Human nature goes both ways when it comes to violence and murder zombie, theyre not taboos.

You got it Joann, I also added Werewolves as my 9th horror theme plot

You had me with "Poor Yankees" thought they had gone broke after the last series against us Go sox!

I am opening the doors to my novel with the introduction: https://www.gayauthors.org/story/w-l/Causality/1 As I said, I want to pursue eastern Fantasy in the modern era; push the limits of science fiction and traditions to the brink. I also have developed my villain far more over the last few weeks. This is not the Nine-Tailed Fox of Naruto or even classic Chinese and Japanese fiction, I am going to pursue a re-interpretation of the entire character with modern views. The fox is a victim of prejudice; it represents abused women, gays and lesbians, minorities, and others who have been defamed, attacked, or hunted. My interpretation is seeking "fairness" akin to Equality due to how the world views it as a monster. In human terms, yes, the fox is amoral and a killer, but it has legitimate and even understandable reasons for its actions. It seeks to disrupt order in order to create a place for itself in the world, a tragic concept that can be correlated with the retaliation from victims on former abusers or "perceived" abusers, creating an endless cycle of Victim and Victimizer. Well, I hope some will find this idea interesting and help me out with beta and editing.

因果 (Causality) By W.L Introduction: From the beginning of time to the end of dynasties to the start of new ages, how many heroes have sought answers to eternal questions: Who am I? Who are you? What do I desire? What do you desire? Humanity has been plagued with questions from our hearts and minds for eons. In our myths and legends, we have sought to describe these questions and find appropriate answers that would satisfy our curiosity and end our search. Yet, all these answers

Welcome to the world of Causality, Ancient Eastern Mythology and Modern Science Fiction blends together. I hope everyone will enjoy my take on classics and new stories on modern approach.

October 31st, is when you guys should set as publishing date, Sept 30th will be the day I close adding new themes or writers, so everyone has a month to work on it. The tag has been mentioned twice Limiting plot themes, but not limiting structure is different than how GA does Anthologies. I am not going to push you to use an editor at the last minute, just write what you want and play with what you want. Stories can be continuous after the fact or a one-off story. This is not a GA event, it's author-based volunteer; GA admins have given us the tools to create our own fun, I just want to use it. As for Poldimori, I think Vampyre is what it was, a romantic story about Vampirism and immortality with early 19th century structure. It's his most famous story that other romantics loved and imitated in art, plays, and music. Bram Stoker took concepts from his story and improved it, just like we have improved Frankenstein to the modern day stories of mad scientists

We could have a geek off: Can you name the Storm trooper, who was repeatedly cloned?

I saw the one from Bel Ami you are referring and it was bad, no real emotions. However, I have to point out to an article from Salon, which highlights the "Gay Porn Taboo" issue. http://www.salon.com/2010/05/21/twincest/ I don't know, they seem real in the movies, but it could be fake and they're just two really good twin actors. However, what if it is true? Twin gay guys being lovers is a taboo, but is it really something any of us need to put a wall around and point to as disgusting or maligned, if it is merely their interest in one another. On a personal note, I get what you mean too on what you mean Matt. When I visited my 1st cousin, who offered me half his bed, I chose to sleep on the cold floor. He doesn't know I'm gay, but he's open minded and know he won't care. I don't find him attractive and while I question his sexuality, I didn't entertain any sexual interest in him even for mere sex.

Just added some details on the top: Think of this as my twist on the classics, I want to see what other writers can come up with on horror fiction. It's highly experimental genre and there's no set type of writing style. Historically, Mary Shelley (Frankenstein) and John Poldimori (Vampyre) created the two most iconic horror stories of modern horror from their contest with Lord Byron and Percey Shelley, I think they wrote lesser known ghost stories based on classic traditions. It's free-form guys, so enjoy and experiment as you want within the plot theme, you may even create a whole knew sub-genre or break apart into a new genre, i.e. Shelley created Science Fiction genre from her story based off horror. PS: Yes I do know Mary Shelley had not married to Percey yet at this point when she wrote Frankenstein (Possibly having an affair with him under Byron and Poldimori nose; though, if Byron really was gay, I'd imagine a common understanding on love was reached between Romantics ), she was known as Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin, but I will still use her proper name

We can add tags to stories, so they are easily searched based on those tags; even if GA is not doing any official event. I thought the idea was pretty cool, everyone has topic around horror that they can explore. The reason why I limit it to 7 at the moment is that I don't think that many writers will take up the challenge as it is not an official GA event. If there's more interest, I will add more themes. Otherwise, Thorn and Brink, you guys have topics

I placed this on my Blog as well: I know GA has not done anything yet official for Halloween, but do any writers want to try writing a horror story and set it to show on Oct 31st? It's not my forte, but I'd love to try and have some fun with writing a spooky story. and it'd be great to share this with others To make it more interesting than a random horror story, what if each writer can only use one Horror plot theme and no other author can use the same. I don't anticipate this to be a huge thing and maybe no one wants to try it, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Here's 9 Horror Plot Themes, I will pick the last one available, if there's more interest than I thought I'll add a couple more plot themes: 1. Curse- thebrinkoftime 2. Ghost- Thorn Wilde 3. Mad Scientist- Scotty94 4. Vampire- aditus 5. Slasher- joann414 6. Cemetery- Rustie 7. Zombie 8. Demon- Sasha (The pup ) 9. Werewolves I was thinking we could tag our stories with "Horror Themes 2013" This is not a GA event, it is completely volunteer. Some details: No Limits on Word counts, No limits on format, and no limits on technique..... Horror fiction began as experimental, unstructured, and range from poetry to epic novels. Mary Shelley's classic Frankenstein was created over a fireplace as part of a ghost story contest among writers of the day. I want to channel the spirits of Mary and Percey Shelley, Lord Byron, and John Polidori (The creator of Modern Vampire Fiction ), let's try to be creative with genres and break ground beyond what exists in current fiction. Deadline: Oct 31st, Closing this on September 30th, so topics are set in stone No editor necessary, but you can have one if you want Post to GA Stories with Tag "Horror Themes 2013" Limiting the subject to one Theme plot per author is different than how GA does Anthologies, I will add a new theme if it does not overlap with another or is a subset of another: i.e. Dracula is Vampire based, which aditus has claimed. However, if you want to do Werewolves, which is not on my list yet, it can be added. I cam up with a small list to start as I did not expect many people to jump on this.

Imagines zombie indulging in his horror sub-genre Zombie is absolutely right as long as the story is written well and the topic is discussed well, I think a lot of people will read it. Bestiality and Rape are taboos, but they're explored heavily by writers. I remember Equus well, mostly due to Daniel Radcliffe, but the play has Bestiality themes and is renowned. If you write it with enough emotion and depth with character development, you will get a good response. Rape is basically an episode of Law and Order SVU; every kind, motive, and technique has been prodded and violated for mass audiences (I and millions of other people are probably sick for enjoying the show's drama, but in all honesty, even critics have to admit it's a good show). Cannibalism, I liked Silence of the Lambs and I am following Hannibal along with a good amount of American TV audience. Hannibal is a sick twisted monster, but he's human on some level and that's why people love him. Behind the sadism and Cannibalism, there's a part of human beast that he represents, something we have given up to create Civilization as Freud would tell you, aka his "Death of God" theory. For me, it's the cerebral and empathy together that makes taboos good reading material.

I will be serious with this suggestion: AJ has a good idea, keeping it simple, but I think a general poster/member ranking/Rep system is far too generic for GA. GA needs something to distinguish us from other forums and sites: Ranking by post count: Real Welcoming- 0 Entertaining Readers- 100 Addressing Issues- 200 Directing Topics - 500 Established- 1,000 For Reputation: Open Secrets- 0 Using Talent - 25 Read Often -50 Riveting - 100 Impressed- 500 Essential- ,1,000 Sourced- 5,000 -------------------------------------- Basically, my idea is to go back to the readers, editors, and writers of GA with something that is made for them. Keep It Simple Stupid is a fine concept, but we should also add a particular flavor to GA as well, in order to distinguish who we are as a community. (Also, I put in another secret message on the ranking and reputation system, you can call it brainwashing members, but hey, what's the harm in that? You can even combine pieces of them to make a command of members )

Millenials: We Suck and We're Sorry

Goid point method, I don't blame everything on the baby boomers, plus Gen Xers need to share responsibility. As for manufacturing American competitive capacity has been nose diving due to bad ma nagement, newly industrial Asia, and an american perception of value based standard of living. Explosive Consumption with credit fueled our speculative bubbles, if only more of that money had gone to US industry -
Not if the novels are canon. I want to see if lucas will keep up with sw novel/video game canon in new movies. Han and leia kids are interesting, but Luke wife, the former dark servant turned jedi master, is really cool from the 90s video games. For those, who don't keep up with the books or video, she's Mara Jade. Just found this video, anyone else remember playing Star Wars Mysteries of the Sith:
