  1. "I'm Too Sexy" feels too butch for Stefan, though. Or at least, faux-butch. Stefan's just straight-up femme. There really is a method to why I pick the songs I pick.
  2. It'd be illegal in California, though. And CA seeems incredibly tough on sex offenders, so I don't think Stefan would be dumb enough to have sex with a seventeen-year old in a state where it's illegal and would get him in trouble with Meghan's Law. I wasn't all that bothered by it- I think at this point I've resigned myself to the fact that Mark really wants to showcase middled-aged men having sex with teenagers. I just skim through that stuff. I've already got "Stacey's Mom" set aside for that inevitable moment when Will decides to have sex with some middle-aged dude in 2004-ish. I'm betting on it being Max, during some argument he's having with Tim over how they're raising their gaybies. So, aside from that, is anyone else getting some major Billy Crampton vibes from Zach? The fact that he's another 15-year old football jock doesn't help much.
  3. Chapter 3 -When Gathan confronts Zach over the way he treated John and Will. And all of the general teen angst in this chapter. "Mutt" by Blink 182 http://listen.grooveshark.com/s/Mutt/xWRu9?src=5 -When Gathan gets to New York City. "Theme from New York, New York" by Frank Sinatra -When Gathan gets love lessons from the Master. "I Know What Boys Like" by The Waitresses Until "Milkshake" comes out, this is the closest to a theme that Stefan has. Well, aside from the Bitch is Back.
  4. But we're talking high school kids. (Well, middle school in John's case.) At that age, you generally want to date someone that you can eat lunch with in the cafe, take classes with, and hold hands with as you walk down the hallway. Weekly visits wouldn't be enough to sustain an actual high school relationship, because of all the closeness and loyalty that teenagers demand out of their relationships, be it platonic or romantic. I mean, I knew kids who dated guys that went to nearby schools, but key- nearby. It could work, but I can't see anything deep happening here because of the distance. More "cousins who mess around and are good friends", and less "deep, soulmates joined together ala Matt and Andy in Adam Phillips' Cross-Currents." Well, considering that Will looks like this... And John looks like this.... I don't blame you! (But they're at least 17 in my mind.) Not to toot my own horn, but I did a damn good job fining someone who looks like they could be Brad's son, didn't I? LOL. (Okay, so his eyes need to be green, but other than that, Sean Farris works nicely.)
  5. I'd prefer 16, but you're right, it's not unrealistic for him to start having sex at fourteen, especially considering that he's out of the closet and likely going to the GSA. JJ's gotta remain a virgin for awhile. But I can see why Will wouldn't. With John, I see things as a crush and flirtation that kinda fizzles into a frienship when they get towards the end of high school. You bring up a good point about the distance, plus there's also the fact that Will goes off to college before John does.
  6. True. I've been assuming that 2003 is the story after 9/11. Because I know you won't force me to score three stories crammed into a two-year period again, right? We're going to skip over a boring year like 2002, right?*hopeful face* Hey, if you want to go the incredibly orginal route of having the Schluter boy fall for the troubled Hayes jock, by all means... Although since this one was actually raised by a Hayes, I guess that makes it different. Cent, I get your reasoning. I can deal with him going all the way only if it's with John. If it's with Gathan and he's still under 15, I'll be pissed. If they do go all the way at fourteen, I just hope it's more implied and not explicitly shown.
  7. I'd say 16. You can drive then, you know what's going on, and you're halfway through high school at that point. I don't think 14, 15 year old kids are ready to go all the way. I think he should keep it to stuff like frottage, maybe oral, at this point. I did not think this would be a topic when we were only in 2000 in CAP land. I thought this wouldn't get brought up until Will was at least 16. If Will loses his virginity now, you won't be able to have that as a plot point when we get to Will fully narrating a story; I'm assuming during either his junior or senior year of high school. He's already out of the closet so you can't use that...I'd try and save at least some material for him.
  8. Unfortunately there will never be a concentrated movement to get the drinking age back down to 18.
  9. I honestly don't think Mark would go with having 13-year olds having fun in the S&M room. There are some lines that shouldn't get crossed. And 13-year olds aren't interested in stuff like that anyway. At that age it's all about early tenative sexual exploration- I don't think someone's going to look up ways to spice up sex when they're still new to it. I just had this thought- maybe the discomfort we've having is because we've followed Brad's kids since they were babies, and they were pretty well-featured. Brad existed in the story as a kid, but he didn't get that well-featured until he was about 11 with the Land Whore. But for Brad's kids, they've been featured a lot as little kids. So it's like, in a sense, Will and JJ feel like they're our own kids, and it's hard switching from seeing them as little kids to seeing them as sexually active teenagers. Well, Will and John. JJ's still pure as snow. Or at least he pretends he is for PR purposes.
  10. I was initially pretty freaked out about it, but then I thought about it and realized that just because I think a 15-year old is a child, they themselves don't feel that way, and most of them don't want sit around and play with tonka trucks anymore. (Malibu Stacey for JJ. ) It's in character for Will, as a guy with a more mature body, to be sexually active. John Hobart, I'm guessing, is also very mature for his physical age, and therefore it's not that surprising he's having sex at 12. The only one I can't see as sexually active would be JJ. I feel having him sexually active as this point would be out of character. Mainly because most people at 14, male or female, don't go for 14-year old boys who still look like they're 11 or 12. They go for the guys who are built like Will and John. But I'm also arguing chastity for JJ because of the expectations JJ's under to maintain a pristine, virginal image as a figure skater. Finally, I can't really see that many people being all that interested in a prissy diva- his current persona would be a buzzkill in terms of dating. Hopefully JJ will take a backseat with all this sexuality stuff, and we won't see him getting into that stuff until he's at least 16 or 17. I'm assuming he won't be hit with the puberty stick until he's about that age.
  11. My wisdom teeth came out fairly easy. I had them all removed at seventeen, and I was fine after a day of recuperating.
  12. That's not that conclusive, though. He could have easily been a sophomore that got placed there because of space limitations.
  13. I voted him as well. In the long term, I'm pretty sure John will likely wind up going back to New Jersey and I can't see Gathan following that. But it'd make for a nice college relationship. I mean, who really needs a "forever" guy at 18? And can we not have kids on here who have yet to reach the other side of 16 yet? Especially a 12-year old?
  14. It's junior year for Matt and Wade...which means it's time to start looking for internships, doing things like study abroad, and looking at grad schools and the like.
  15. Whoever it is, PLEASE not a Crampton/Schluter. The "Troubled Teenage Hayes Boy Falls For A Crampton/Schluter" deal has been done so many times at this point.
  16. I'm assuming that when Gathan goes off to college, he'll meet more age-appropriate guys and his flirtation with Will is going to settle down into a nice friendship. I mean, I know CAP isn't known for it's realism, but buying that a 9th grade kid is going to be allowed to hang out with a bunch of college kids is just too much of a suspension of disbelief. Seniors, yes. College kids? No. I know Brad is generally relaxed, but that would be ridiculous. You know, Mark, this whole thing would have been a moot issue if you had just skipped over to 2004 or so when Will's eighteen and Gathan's 22....
  17. I gotta echo what's been said here- don't be a douchebag who cheats on his girlfriend without her consent. If she can't handle you sleeping with men, then it's never going to work.
  18. I think it would be cool if he ended up with a woman. You've never really had a bi character who fell for a woman instead of a man...although I guess Steve and Marjorie would count.
  19. My entire family knows I'm gay. My closest friend, as well as the group we hung out with, all pretty much knew. Sometimes it can be really fun coming out... I was walking. These dudes were with some girl. They asked me if I thought this girl was "effable". I said, "I wouldn't know, because I only eff guys." The looks on those guys faces was absolutely hilarious! I first came out to my family when I was about...14? I was pretty open about my crush on David Boreanaz and Chad Michael Murray, and I'd rent gay movies like The Broken Hearts Club(barf) and Get Real(really good movie). I had my first gay acquaintance when I was 15- we werent close but it was cool to have that. . Here's the thing about me, Tet. I was a pretty effeminate kid growing up. Then my voice deepened at about 17 and my shoulders got broad. Now people generally assume I'm straight unless I tell them. It's pretty funny. I still just assume people figure I'm gay because that was how it was when I was a teenager. I was at a bar with my friend Sherry, and this guy asked if I was her boyfriend. I told him no, I'm gay. He basically told me I didn't look gay. It's still kinda weird that I no longer read as effeminate. It's not any particular effort I put into it- I didn't need to "prove" I was masculine, and it's not something I aspire to at all, but people just kinda assume that based on what I look like.
  20. It would be interesting if Gathan wound up on medication. I don't Mark's explored yet the way in which so many people of the Gen Y generation are prescribed pills such as Adderall, Lexapro, Prozac, etc etc etc.
  21. What was so refreshing about Matt was that he was a Hayes boy who was actually normal. Of course, he wasn't actually brought up as a Hayes, so that says something.
  22. Eh. It's whatever. See, in Delaware, the cut-off date is August 30th or something like that, so that would have put Will in with the class of 2005. To keep JJ in the same class with Will, I was going to try and see if we could have had him held back like I was. But then I checked, and it worked out that in California, Will would have made the class of 2004. So class of 2004 it is. I kinda wish they could've been in my class, but 2003-2004 is jampacked with music I'm going to love using. God, I can't wait to get to the Killers and Mr. Brightside. *dreamy face* I kinda wish I could have played "Hollaback Girl" at their prom though, but I can't. Oh, well. In any event, I still have John reppin' the class of '05. I'm pretty sure that Caleb is sixteen, maybe seventeen by now. I would have thought there would have been a bigger age difference, but I guess Matt's bio mother only took another three years to decide she was ready to be a mom. Caleb's gotta be about seventeen, eighteen right now. He might be out on his own at this point, which would explain how he could hang with Hayes kids and not have it be a big deal. I remember thinking that Mark should have made Caleb a little younger, but it's whatever.
  23. I don't think it was until about 2004-ish that guys started wearing jeans that somewhat fit again. The O.C. had a hand in bringing back somewhat preppy styles. But for now, it's all about baggy Tommy Hilfiger, Nautica, and Fubu. I remember my friend Mack getting teased for wearing jeans that actually fit once. Everyone kept going on him about how tight they were. They weren't even really tight- they just actually fit him. I think, for the most part, guys who went to high school from about the mid-'90s to the mid '00s were expected to wear baggy jeans that showed off their boxer brand. Although to make up for that, the guys did wear really hot wifebeaters.
  24. Because I'm incredibly OCD about keeping track of ages, here are the birthdates for the current young characters in the CAPverse: April 24, 1980: Matt Carrswold is born. January 19, 1982: Darius Schluter is born. July 25, 1982: Gathan Hayes is born. August 17, 1983: Ella Hayes is born. May 30, 1985: Zach Hayes is born. December 7, 1985: Jeremy Schluter, aka J.J., is born. April 18, 1986: Marie Hobart, daughter of Jack and Clare Hobart, is born. September 14, 1986: Will Schluter, son of Brad and Jeanine, is born. November 1, 1987: John Hobart, son of Jack and Clare Hobart, is born. September 4, 1995: Courtney Clerrault is born. *** I went to the liberty of coming up with birthdays for the Hayes(and faux-Hayes) clan. I didn't bother with Brent or Trent, though, because they aren't going to be important, I'm guessing. This works out to Darius and Gathan being the class of 2000, Ella being the class of 2001, JJ, Marie and Will being the class of 2004, John being the class of 2005, and Courtney graduating in 2013 while being currently a sophomore in 2011.
  25. Heh. And here I was, thinking November 1st was a good date to squeeze in John's birthday. Would I have to go younger or older here? Anything from March to July is out now, in order to keep John twelve years old. And I would assume that it would also take out August and September, since Will seems to imply that he's at least a full year older than John because he doesn't consider himself the same age. October has Brad and Claire's birthdays. December has JJ's birthday. January has Darius's birthdate. There's no one currently alive in the story that has a November birthday. And if I pushed John's birthdate back to 1988 or something, that would put him in the class of 2006 and therefore two years behind the JJ/Marie/Will trifectka.
