And according to an article in Time.com, that is not cheap: For a middle-income family to raise a child born in 2015 through the age of 17, the cost of rearing a child has hit $233,610.

“Well? I’m waiting.” Mr. Williams sat with his elbows on the table staring intently at the twins. They gave each other a side glance and then hung their heads. “Your father and I want to know why you two boys were fighting last night,” Mrs. Williams added worriedly. “It’s not like you boys not to get along.” Devin glanced over again at Kevin, and then he cleared his throat before speaking. Kevin gave him an anxious look. His body tensed when Devin started to speak.

We're down to the Final Four: Loyola-Chicago vs. Michigan and Villanova vs. Kansas. Since all my favorite teams will be watching the finals from their La-Z-Boy recliners, I'll be cheering on Loyola-Chicago because who wouldn't root for a team who has 98 year-old Sister Jean as the head cheerleader?

@Graeme I am actually a fraternal twin. (My sister passed away two years ago.) Anyway, my mother once told us that she was going to name us Patrick and Patricia. We would have gone through life as Pat and Patty! I also have twin cousins named Teddy and Freddy and another named Carolyn and Marilyn. I named Kevin and Devin after two paternal twins I once knew. I couldn't tell them apart.

“Kevin?” Kevin was lying on the bed in the guest bedroom when he was awakened by someone gently pushing on his shoulder. “Are you all right, Honey?” He sleepily opened his eyes and looked into his mother’s concerned face. He turned and pulled the covers over his head. “What time is it?” It seemed like he had been asleep for hours. After the fight with Devin, he went straight into the guest bedroom, curled up on the bed and fell asleep. “It

Love, Simon is a wonderful story that deals with a high school student dealing with being gay and coming out. Watch the trailer below:

@Page Scrawler You're right about guys making it into the NBA. There are tens of thousands of wanna-be's competing for one position. I have a better chance of winning the Power Ball sweepstakes. However, I don't think that Kevin and Devin's father has his sights set that high, or at least I hope I didn't imply that. I think he feels that their best way to a better future is a college education. With the cost of going four years to an in-school university costing nearly $100K, an athletic scholarship might be their best path forward, and he's been preparing them for that. He even admits he can't afford to provide for them financially.

Did anyone else fall flat on your face with your bracket this weekend? It has been a wild March Madness. First, #1 Virginia goes down to a #16 team. There goes my bracket. I had Virginia winning the championship. Kerplunk!! Then #1 Xavier...Kerplunk...#2 North Carolina...Kerplunk...#2 Cincinnati...Kerplunk... #1's Villanova and Kansas are still in the mix, as well as #2's Duke and Purdue. At the rate the top teams are falling, we just might see a Cinderella team cutting down the nets on April 2. Any predictions now that many of our brackets have been busted? I guess I'll follow the betting odds and go with Duke, although they haven't impressed me this year.

On the drive home, Paul whispered to Devin, “Did you talk to Kevin yet?” Paul spoke softly so Stanley and Charles who were sitting in the backseat couldn’t hear. Stanley was the center on the basketball team. He had to sit sideways in the backseat because there wasn’t enough leg room for his long, lanky body. “I will,” Devin replied angrily. “I already said something to that other kid.” Paul asked hopefully, “Did you kick his ass?” “Not yet,” stated De

“What’s the matter, Honey?” Mrs. Lynch pushed the hair from Cameron’s eyes as he ate a bowl of cold cereal for breakfast. “Nothing, Mom.” He tried to sound convincing, but he knew his mother could read him like a book. Being her only child, she was especially close to her son. The ordeal he had undergone the past few months only made her more vigilant. She put the dish towel on the countertop and sat down. “Want to talk about it?” Tears formed in his eyes. “Why don’

@RadioOfLove Thanks for pointing out the names. I found and corrected them. I have probably edited this story more than any I've written. You should have seen the first draft. I must have had dozens of name errors per chapter, and I'm sure you'll find more. I should never have named them Devin and Kevin. LOL. I was constantly getting them confused. And...welcome aboard! I'm glad you left me a reply. I know most people are silent readers, but it is still nice to get an occasional wonderful comment like yours. I hope you continue to enjoy the story.

What would you do if you were an identical twin, a carbon copy of someone else, but yet different in one way? Losing Kevin is the story of twin brothers, Devin and Kevin. They shared a brotherly love until Kevin’s love for someone else almost tears them apart.

“Who’s that guy with your brother?” Devin followed Paul’s eyes to the other side of the cafeteria. He noticed Kevin walking beside a boy he had never seen in school. “I dunno.” He shrugged his shoulders and continued eating his cold fries, hoping Paul would forget about Kevin and continue his discussion of whom was the hottest girl in their sophomore class. “I don’t think I’ve seen him before,” remarked Paul. “He looks like a girl to me.” Devin looked m

Dean came over to keep me company for a while. I was still depressed as hell. TJ hadn’t come home again, and quite frankly, I was having trouble keeping myself together. I felt so helpless not knowing what to do. Dean wasn’t much help. He kept telling me I should forget about him, and that I was just wasting my time. He wanted to spend the night, but I was tired of hearing his advice. I knew he was probably right, but I had to hold out some glimmer of hope that TJ would return. Tha

I don’t know what’s going on with TJ. He’s been living with us for months now. I thought things would be really wonderful, but it hasn’t turned out that way. He seems to pull away from me more and more each day. It seems the closer I try to get to him, the further we grow apart. It started after he got his emancipation several months ago. The court made him get a job, so he’s been working after school and on weekends at a video store. We hardly see each other. He comes in from work l

When I awoke, I was spooned against Randy’s body. He had his arm wrapped around my chest, and I could feel his erection poking me from behind. I lay there several minutes enjoying the warmness surrounding my body. I tried to open my eyes, but suddenly remembered what had happened to me. Everything was blurry. I could make out the light coming from the window, but I couldn’t focus on anything else in the room. I sat up and began to panic. Randy grabbed me and pulled me back down into

@droughtquake Have you ever considered running for political office? I'm being serious. Your responses exhibit so much understanding, compassion and wisdom. You have a remarkable sense of what is going on, particularly for the underprivileged and disadvantaged.

After my father carried TJ in the house, it became a chaotic scene. My father took him upstairs and lay him in my bed. I was frantic. I kept yelling and screaming. Carter stood in a corner watching silently. My mother was rushing wet towels to my father who was cleaning the wounds on TJ’s body. “Is he going to live?” I screamed. I was afraid I was going to lose him. “I think it looks worse than it really is,” my father tried to assure me. I kept looking at TJ’s listless

I left Carter’s house before he woke up. I took my clothes into the bathroom and dressed while he still slept. It was a quarter to six, so no one was up as I crept downstairs and slipped out the backdoor. I was still extremely upset. I was mad at Carter for what he had done. He knew I liked Randy and that I didn’t want to do anything with anyone else. I felt I had betrayed him. Even though I had been asleep when Carter sucked me, I still thought it was my fault because I had let him

@MacGreg I also watched it as it happened with my husband, Tony. It seemed so natural and spontaneous. I told Tony that is so sweet. Then I said that there would be a lot of blowback from it. It is unfortunate that something so natural to us has to be dehumanized because of other's bigotry and hatred. Our hope is in young people today- tomorrow's future. They are rejecting the archaic dogma of many of the older generation (including political leaders,) and they are more accepting of diversity. I'm beginning to see young same-sex couples holding hands and walking arm in arm together in public. Times are changing.

Olympic history was made last night when American slopestyle skier Gus Kenworthy received a 'good luck' kiss from his boyfriend Matthew Wilkas in front of a world-wide prime time audience. But what I found more significant was how Wilkas later described the kiss: “It’s unusual, right?” says Wilkas, an actor. “It’s good that it’s televised because it normalizes it more. I would imagine it would be a huge moment for a young gay kid to see an awesome athlete so open and proud of himself and not caring what anyone thinks of his sexuality.” This has been a remarkable Winter Olympics with gay and proud Olympians like Gus Kenworthy and Adam Rippon. Congratulations, Guys!
