Welcome home, ricky. Sorry your flight wasn't all that it should have been. At least you had an enjoyable time in Bulgaria and Germany. That is FANTASTIC news about Dustin. I guess if he got pissed about all the tubes, he must be feeling better. Hopefully this is the last crisis and he'll be able to go home soon and things will get back to normal for him. Maybe we've got it all wrong. Perhaps the Rapture was canceled because God didn't want to spend all eternity with a bunch of idiots and morons. He probably decided to just proceed with the "Tribulation". You know, earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, tornadoes, volcanoes, ending at some point with fire and brimstone, the usual "Wrath of God" things the preachers go on and on and on about ad nauseum from their pulpits each and every Sunday. Makes as much sense as anything Camping and his ilk have been spouting. Pity the poor fools who fall under the spell of these charlatans.

Poor Kid. I sincerely hope that this is the last crisis for him. He definitely needs a break. Nevertheless, thoughts and prayers will continue to be his and for all concerned. Although not being privy to his treatment since the spider bite, and not being in the medical profession, I do have to wonder at the efficacy of that treatment because of all the crises that have occurred one after the other when all seemed to be going well for him.

I'd rather be with my friends and I'm sure the music will be better in the fiery place. Should solve the traffic problem. Besides, I can't go. I have a music lesson on Tuesday.

Mother always said that she would never want to be a burden to her children. My Farther died a few years after I graduated from high school and that left 4 siblings at home. Mother went to work and supported and took care my brother and sisters until they graduated from school and were out on their own. She continued to work and lived independently and continued to do so even after she retired. She couldn't drive so one of my sisters, who lived near by, would take her where she needed to go, grocery shopping, the doctor, etc. In 2001, when she was 83, she contracted pneumonia and ended up in the hospital. When she was told that she would have to go into a nursing home or live with one of her children she said from her hospital bed, "I'm tired and just want to go to sleep" and she did. Those were the last words she spoke. I firmly believe that she willed herself to death rather than be a burden to her children. Take care Tomas

Yes, we have cut off the head of the serpent and could withdraw from the battlefield proclaiming victory. But one battle does not a war make and I fear that the serpent might be in reality a Hydra and it will grow two heads to replace the one, perhaps more virulent than the one cut off. Only time will tell. I was born and grew up in the time of war and the wars have never ceased only paused long enough to move to a new battlefield. I'm not sure that human nature will allow humanity to cease warring and live in respectful peace with one another. At least I do not see it happening within what is left of my life time.

Indeed! It has been long since I've read any of the histories of the founding of the country or the Federalist Papers for that matter, but I seem to recall reading that the Founders even held the word "Democracy" to be anathema.
