Why did Robbie have to die?
centexhairysub replied to Mark Arbour's topic in Mark Arbour Fan Club's Topics
I think we are all underestimating Cody to some extent. He has never been really good relationship material but by all accounts he is great at his job, which is a difficult and demanding one. He could not be as good as he has been portrayed at this job without having a great deal of personal responsibility and a great work ethic. Plus, he has been a good friend to quite a few people in the CAP universe when they have really needed one. I can't say Cody is one of my favorite charaters but I don't think he is as much of a screw up and some are making him out to be... That being said, I don't see him as someone with any paternal instincts that are going to kick in... -
While this may not have had the terror of the last few chapters; the sadness was still there. Matt and Wade have both lost their fathers and will have to deal with that, hopefully together. I have never been sure since Wade slept with Brad, how truly secure their relationship is now. Wade was so obsessed for a while that it bothered Matt more than if he could have done it and then just let it go. Tiffany still cared about Jeanine, maybe still loved her, but it was the kind of love where you just want the best for the other person for them to be happy. She will be able to mitigate some of her grief by helping with Maddy. JP is the man. I don't know if anyone else reading really understands how difficult it would have been to be able to arrange passage off the island that quickly after everything happened. It says a lot about what kind of pI erson he is and the power he possess that he was able to do so. I know it is petty, but I am glad the divorce was already complete before the Senator passed away...

I just can't believe Brian. He knows the family history and then pulls something like this. I hate to say it but upbringing will always tell. I know it is going to sound snobby but you can just see how much smoother Matt is and how he fits into the family so much easier than Brian does. I am not saying that someone raised how Brian was raised can't learn a certain level of polish but to those not born of it; it always shows...

It is always funny to me how people that get thrown together on teams or for work interact with each other. Often those first few meeting or days can be very interesting. I can just see Stef and all of these hockey jocks. Too funny...

It is a sign of things to come, Brian and Matt just can't seem to get along. I have to wonder how long until that blows up in everyone's face. It is so great that Robbie and Matt were able to get that instant connection and did not waste any time finding out how much they cared for each other. I just love JP...

A truly great chapter and just another example of how well, Mark is able to pull events and people from the past and fit them seemlessly into this story. This was one of those bittersweet chapters and you don't soon forget...

It is so funny to look back and see when people meet up with each other for the first time and how they act with each other. It is amazing how just a few things changing can make all the difference in the world. I do find it interesting that in his head, Matt keeps comparing himself to Brian. Is it just about their connection to Cody or is it something else???

The scene with Matt, Cody, and Alejandro was very very hot... They all sort of fit in with each other in this weird way. It is such a weird way to view JJ in these chapters after coming back and seeing where he ends up. Part of this is really hard to read because of where the story takes us in the future... It is better to have loved and lost than never have loved at all...

It can be so amazing that those connected by blood or just by the heart can make connections that others don't understand or try to sever. Blood does not always make a family; it is what is in the heart and soul that does.

I just love dinner at Escorial. It can be so much fun and just a little drama... I love how when Claire speaks, all the boys fall in line. It is great how everyone stepped up to help Matt. That is just the way family should be, it is such a shame it often isn't how it works out...

Well, the scene with Robbie and Matt just had a certain sweetness to it that was just perfect. As I am going back re-reading these stories, the last few chapters with Robbie are truly hard to deal with after what is going on in the current story. You know, sometimes you just don't appreciate what you have until it is too late...

I knew that supper conversation was going to be wild, can't wait for the one at Escorial. I can totally see why someone like Matt would form an instant bond with Cody. Neither is looking for something permenant but both like to have fun...

Well, the scene with the cop was scary hot. It was hot because of the activity and idea but scary because if he did this to Matt, how many others is there???
-
Well, when everyone gets to meet and it comes out that JP and Stef slept with Matt; that is going to be an interesting dinner conversation... Matt has already had to kick a relatives ass, maybe he is more like the Hayes then we thought...

I swear after the comments in the last story in the CAP series, you should all know who the father is going to turn out to me... The adventure will be connecting to that person. The emotions that young people are dealing with in regards to sex, love, and fear of everyone knowing is very powerful. It can be very hard to find someone to connect with at that age.
-
WOW, crappy way to find out that you are adopted; a little strange that the parents never mentioned it before... Matt is all over of the sexual taste meter; Blair from Facts of Life and President Clinton??? That is a weird combination...

Yea, those days of bj or whatever at 3:00 a.m. but walking the halls with a girl during the day... It is so funny to me to see how some of those in a certain segment of society act toward others. Often those that put on the most airs have the fewest reasons to do so...

After all the trauma of the last few chapters of 9/11; I so innocently came to Odyssey seeking a few enjoyable moments of calm... What a freaking mistake that was... We have this lovely chapter will Winkler really admitting and coming to terms with his feelings for Jacobs. We have Jacobs realizing that he did love Winkler. We have Winkler share the story of his past. We have them make love, not just have sex but actually make love. Then you drop a bombshell like that in the last line of the chapter???? Jacobs doesn't seem to be in any hurry to return to New York, he did have a chance to go back to the U.S. with Travers Sr. and did not take the oppertunity. Divorce was very rare back then, and never really done in the lower classes. There were a lot of abandoned spouses but I don't see Jacobs as the type. Does he have seven children, two dogs, and a cat as well???? You are a bad, bad man Mark Arbour... You are building up some really interesting Karma for the next turn of the wheel.
-
A WIFE, what do you mean a wife???? Here I was getting all misty eyed in a much more happy manner than the last few days and then, a wife... I guess since she is New York, again with the drama in New York, she is far enough away to not cause very many problems. Jacobs doesn't mention previously any desire to run home and he did have a chance to sail back to America; a marriage in name only???

The Brad and Robbie Playlist

Great job, I can actually put moments to most of the songs at least where they would make sense to me... -
Why did Robbie have to die?

I cannot imagine how hard it was for you to write the last few chapters. I can imagine how hard it will be writting the next few with everyone getting over this tragedy. Although Robbie's death and the others were all hard to take, I want to take a moment to say thank you for doing such a superb job of writing that it pulled all of us into your world. I know this wasn't easy on anyone; I truly did have to take the day off today to recover from the last two chapters. That being said, I really felt there was a true cathartic moment reading the last three chapters that I experienced. I don't think I realized how much I had bottled up certain feelings about that day and the time right afterward but reading this story has helped me release some of them and work through some of the others... It takes a special skill for a writer to be able to do what you have done. -
JP is a Rock Star... Stef is JP's perfect partner. Cody is gonna be around for a while. Brian isn't going to last, you can just tell...
-
You know, I think the family should have a chart drawn up and every new person that comes into contact with them should get a copy. It would save a lot of conversations...
-
Well, secrets are going to be tumbling out of the closet so to speak. I can't wait to see how everyone handles this. I really do think that Stef acted a little more on emotion then he should have. As we all know, just being blood does not make one family in the same way that others in this family have bonded. Wait, is that a shadow on the horizon???
-
Well, the chickens have certainly come home to roost... I can't wait for dinner at Escorial...
