  1. WOW, a lot of work matching songs to the moments in this chapter... I really love Debbie Harry and Blondie. This really fits the moment in the chapter perfectly. I love the song New York, New York but have always really favored the Liza Minelli version. I think it has more depth and passion; plus I was never a huge Frank Sinatra fan; I always thought he was a better actor than singer. I had never heard of the song by The Wiseguys; but it was pretty cool...

    Chapter 34

Anyone that has ever gone bungee jumping knows that feeling when the cord starts to catch and for that split second; you wonder, " Will it hold'? That feeling of excitement and terror all rolled up into one feeling in the pit of your stomach. That is the feeling that I have on each of these chapters the last couple of weeks. I noticed above someone commented about the wedding being in the morning. That would not have been possible. No events were allowed on the observation deck before it opened at 9:30 a.m. Now, I guess if you had enough pull, you might have gotten around this but I can't see Jeanine or Hank having that type of pull as they seemed to be the ones planning all of this without any help from the rest of the family. Plus, do you know how early everyone would have to get up and get moving for a wedding at 9:00 a.m.??? Hell, the hair would have to start getting done way before 5:00 a.m. I think it is safe to say that the wedding is planned for the evening of September 11th, not in the morning. Of course, Mark could have this changed but.... The Marriot World Trade Center was in building 3 of the WTC complex. While it was not hit directly, although landing gear and other parts from one of the planes did strike the hotel; it was destroyed in the subsequent collapse of the two towers. I think less than a hundred people did in the hotel and most of them were firemen that were using the hotel as a staging point for the two towers. I don't believe that any guest were killed in the destruction of the hotel. It was a really beautiful hotel and the service was just exceptional... I had stayed at the hotel less than a year before it's destruction. I just really don't understand Marie's endgame at this point. It doesn't appear that she can push him from the school or even the position that he has within the school; so what is she trying to do? Everyone has to believe or at least suspect that Ferris did what he did at the urging of Marie since he is one of her toadies. Her position is even more precarious since John has taken his cousin's side over his sister. How will everyone react when they find out that Marie basically drove her brother out of the house and he is now going to be living with Will??? I think Noah is going to end up being of the the people really hurt by all of this teen drama. I think Marie is really using him or at least started out using him to get back at Will. Can Noah survive socially in this atmosphere if Marie dumps him and Will doesn't stand behind him? It looks like Will has another conquest in Cam. I sort of like this kid even though we don't know much about him. He seems shy and funny and like Alistair might prove to be someone that would do Will good to hang around with and enjoy spending time with him. I just can't believe how Brad and Stef are acting. If JP's disapproval wasn't enough, which it should have been; then the fact that Darius, JJ, and Robbie are avoiding them as much as they apparently are should have been a big clue... I had really hoped for the longest time that no one in the CAP universe would be hurt or killed in the events of 09/11 but everything about Mark's writing suggest that is not going to be the case; I do hope and pray that I am wrong... I have a scenario that keeps coming up in my head of what is going to happen; and will be sick if it is even close to being right. I am sure Mark already has everything about the next few chapters completed except for maybe some editing so I don't think any last minute invocations of prayer or begging is going to change what Mark has planned. I am sure this is going to be hanlded with grace, humility, and that special touch that Mark seems to bring to all of his stories. No matter what happens, thanks for the ride; it has been a great one....
  3. I really enjoyed the latest chapter. I do think that Granger played the situation perfectly. His level of ingrained and learned behaviour would make the most stringent social arbiter set up and take notes. I think that Granger was right in that there is no reason to antagonize the people that will be in charge of dealing with both you and that captured crew. Why make it rougher for either you or the men under you; the problem is that so many of those in charge really cared very little for those that followed them. This is what makes Granger so different from so many of those in charge in both the navy and society at the time of this story. I have never understood those that fail to understand that if you treat a person right, you get better results from them. I really did not know that William James was a lawyer. I have read several versions of the aftermath of this battle and they all seem to favor the British version; but of course to some extent the British won the war and we tend to accept the victor's version over the defeated. The truth is probably just as you said somewhere in between. I can't wait for Granger to get back on his way home. He really has quite a few things to wrap up but I want to see how he is going to handle the issue with his ship being destroyed. I could easily see this story hitting 100 chapters....
  4. That was a great choice, it really fit the whole chapter not just the scene with them.... I don't know if everyone comes over and checks out the picks you make for the music but they should. I often go back and re-read the chapter with the songs you pick out and they really enhance my enjoyment... Great job...

    Chapter 62

Really loved the latest chapter of Odyssey, I get so carried away when I read them. I can almost feel the tension and emotion of those involved. I admire how Granger is able to stay calm and collected during the most troubling of times. I would agree with Granger that there is no need to antagonize those that are now in charge. The level of sophistication and levelheadedness that Granger posses is partly from his upbringing but some is just the kind of person that he is. God, I wish we had someone like him now... I have to admit that I did not know that William James was a lawyer. While I have an inbreed desire to take the British side over anyone else; this would temper my opinion. I have read the account but like you probably believe it was somewhere in the middle, although the issue with the surgeon always really bothered me... I can't wait for Granger to be exchanged and get on his way back to England. Berry and Thompson were lauded on their arrival, even though they were not the first with the news, but I can see Granger downplaying his issues to let them explain what happened before, during, and afterward...
  6. I know exactly what you mean; even when I disagree with Tim, I love how his mind works... Yea, I have a picture of him in my mind's eye in court; but what I want to know is what he wears for Halloween... LOL...
  7. I miss Tonto so much and wish she was around because she would already have slapped some sense into quite a few people in this family over their behaviour... I don't think she would have been all in anyone's corner but she would not have tolerated how some of these people are acting with each other... I really do think that Will has to find a way to talk to Brad. I am not sure having pre-conditions are a bad idea at this point. If he wants to have a meaningful conversation; then they need to be able to talk without Brad starting to lose it or Will walking off without anything being resolved. Robbie and JP are going to have to be the ones that work together to bring Will and Brad together. Tim has stated, and I bow to his knowledge in this area, that Brad really cannot have Will's emanication revoked. I think that Brad probably knows this and is just using it as a threat. The problem is that he is on the verge of rupturing his relationship with his sons to a point of perhaps no return. I do think that it isn't just his relationship with Will that is going to suffer. Darius will certainly back Will and I think JP is probably right that JJ will as well. The fact that Robbie understands and believes that Will is right is going to reinforce that with the other boys. I just don't understand how Brad is willing to lose so much when he can't win. Surely he has already talked to his attorney and is aware of how unlikely it is that he can revoke the emancipation. I think Will is under-estimating Claire's reaction to this latest issue. With everything else already going on, I have to believe that Claire will not just blindly take Marie's side. I could even seen Claire taking it upon herself to contact Erik or doing whatever she feels is necessary to get to the truth. I think the blindfold is off and she is going to work towards finding the truth of the matter no matter what... JP is going to have to be the one to do what he can to bridge the issues between the parties. I am not sure at this point that anyone else has enough standing to bring them together. Brad's biggest weakness is his ego, Will's is his love and even need of family. I would much rather have Will's weakness than Brad's...
  8. I am not sure that I agreed with anything you said, but damn, I love how you said it... I agree that Malcolm might have feared for his job and that is why he went along with Will using him like he did; but as it was written, I really felt that Malcolm wanted it and that Will was just smart enough to figure that out and go with it. We as a society all to often still regard rape as something that someone brings on themelves or asks for. I can tell you that never happens... No one that has ever counseled a rape victim has ever found one that wanted it to happen. I really think have of the issues that Brad is bringing up about Will and his behaviour are in Brad's head or they are worse then they are because of how Brad is taking them. Hell, half of what he is gripping about, he did with Will around before the emancipation...

    Chapter 33

God, I wish Tonto was still here... I really do believe that Brad and maybe even Stef are on the verge of making the biggest mistakes of their lives. Will is the kind of person that can and will eventually forgive almost anything; but maybe not forget it. If Brad goes through with what he threatens and Stef backs him up; Will will never forgive or forget. I really believe that Robbie and more importantly JP will stand firmly with Will; who I think is so much closer to being in the right than Brad on this matter. Per a couple of comments from Tim, I don't think Brad can get Will's emancipation revoked so this is going to be a wasted effort that only damages his relationship with Will maybe forever. I do think that Will needs to try and communicate with Brad. The problem, as I see it, is that everytime he has tried; Brad either screams at him, threatens him, or tries to intimidate him. Sharon got it right when she said Brad is talking at Will instead of talking to him. I do not think Brad realizes what he is doing and it may be up to Robbie to do what he can to get through to him. Brad began this latest round when he used Jeanine to strike out at Will over buying the house and building the sex room. Brad's weakness is his pride but Will's weakness is his family. Will really wants to get along with everyone and there really is nothing more important to Will than family. Will can survive without Brad; I am not sure the same can be said for Brad surviving without his children. Darius will definitely side with Will and I think JP is right and JJ will as well. Brad may find himself cut off from a large portion of his family with nothing to blame for it but Brad's needs to control everything and everyone around him... I think Will could be wrong about how Claire will react to this latest incident. With everything else going on with Marie, I am not sure that Claire will be that shocked or suprised about what Will has learned. I don't think Claire will automatically support Will or Marie but will do what she needs to find the truth. I could even see her getting in touch with Erik herself to question him. JP is going to have to get much more involved in both the teen drama and family issues than he proabably wants to. In the end, it may be how JP handles this that matters more than anything else... God, I do miss Tonto...
  10. I don't for a moment believe that Will is right in all aspects of this current drama with Brad. The problem I have is that Brad is acting more like a child than Will is. I would actually support Will walking away and not talking to his father from a theraputic stand point if everytime they have a conversation; Brad attemps to scream at, bully, and intimidate Will. No one should have to put up with abuse like that, and yes, yelling at someone everytime you have a conversation with them is abuse. It is better for Will to walk away and not engage his father in a conversation under those circumstances. I cannot remember a chapter in quite a while that Brad, when dealing with Will, hasn't attempted to either bully or intimidate or yell at Will at some point when they talk. Brad has always been a bully. From Be Rad to 9/11, there are numerous examples of Brad being verbally abusive and bullying towards those he supposedly cares about as well as others. On of my biggest issues when Brad and Robbie split during Millenium was how Brad had over the years made jabs at Robbie for being fat, balding, losing his sex drive, etc... So many people on this forum were just shocked that Robbie took the action that he did; but being constantly belittled is a form of abuse and I said then and reiterate now, Robbie probably needed the break from Brad to decide how he felt and if he was willing to put up with Brad's behaviour. Now, I am not saying that everything Robbie did was right; rarely is anyone right in all areas of any situation. The issue is that Brad has a history of being wrong and using his looks, sex appeal, wealth, power, and connections to force those around him into coming around to his point of view...
  11. This is the best statement made today; and the biggest reason that Will and Brad are having issues...
  12. Have seen them both and she ruined Adventureland for me and if not for the music would have completely ruined The Runaways for me... I just really believe she could not act her way out of a wet paper bag... Even Pia Zadora had more talent then Kristen Stewart...
  13. No...... They have to have more time together.... Evil Mark for even suggesting such a course of action...
  14. Okay, I spent way to much time writing in the review section so I have no time for this section... I am going to simply post what I wrote there here, and I will argue with Tim about it later... Well, I never thought I would live to see the day that Robbie was the calm and controlled one of the pair. I really think that Brad has lost his mind and I am starting to think that Stef is following him down the rabbit hole. I know that all the Bradophiles are up in arms about how mistreated Brad is but I think they are all nuts... I just got through re-reading Be Rad and except for the destruction of property issue, Brad was much more out of control at the time of that story then Will is now; plus he was a couple of years older in age but obviously not in maturity. I am actually questioning whether or not Brad is as mature now as Will is during this story. Brad did a lot more drugs and drinking than Will has ever done. Except for pot, has there been any sign of Will doing any drugs? Brad did pot, coke, and mushrooms on a regular basis; plus Robbie says acid, although I really don't remember this from Be Rad. Brad was drunk just about every weekend and quite often during the week during Be Rad; I can only think of a hand full of times Will has even drank. You never saw him really drink in Hawaii; my guess is the bar is really more for visitors not for Will, himself. Now, I will give you that Will has slept with more guys than Brad but I think after going back over Be Rad that Brad had as much or more sex just with a fewer number of guys. Plus, if Brad hadn't been so paranoid about anyone knowing he was gay; he would have been a much bigger slut than Will has been. Brad had a pretty high number count for his age and that was with him being a paranoid closet case for years... Brad took part in several orgies while visiting Stef and we never really got a full view of his actions in them; so we can't even be sure that Will has actually slept with more men than Brad did in all honesty. Brad was also in several fights when he was Will's age, I can't recall Will ever beating anyone up. Finally, Brad was willing to destroy people, I mean actually ruin their lives when he was Will's age; that doesn't seem like anything that Will would ever do, or at least not over as little as Brad was willing to do it for... The only thing that Will has done that I think is in error is cutting off all communication with his father except for conversations when other people are around and he is trying to keep it friendly but benign. The problem he has though is that everytime he tries to keep it benign; Brad wigs out and loses it. I really believe that Will would make an effort if Brad did not attack him everytime he opens his mouth. Plus, Brad's constant threats to go back to court is getting old. Honestly, he just needs to keep his mouth shut. Legally, he might win but it would be like the person that cuts off his nose to spite his face... Brad is like so many people that get to a certain age and seem to forget all the shit they did when they were young; it is like they mentally sanitize their past. Will did not kick Brad out of Escorial, Brad's behaviour brought that about... Stef has always been Brad's biggest backer. When he and Brad became blood brothers all those years ago in Paris, Stef took it to heart. The problem is that Stef seems to be blind to how Brad treats others; which is often really badly. It is one thing to want to support and stand by someone because you care; it is another to enable them to destroy lives and run roughshod over everyone in their path. I could actually see JP and Stef breaking up if Stef cannot take a step back from his behaviour on this matter. I think that Claire and Jack are moving on John because they don't want him to get as out of control as Marie has become. It seems the situation with Marie has come out of no where to some extent and they both seem blindsided by her change in behaviour, I still have to wonder what set this off... They want to make sure that John knows they don't approve of his having sex with just everybody... I am not sure they have handled everything in the best manner but they are making an effort; which is more than I can say for Brad. I can't wait for the upcoming conversation between JP and Will... Don't make us wait too long, please Mark....
  15. I really loved all the songs here, they were much more in general from the period of me growing up, god I feel old sometimes... I cannot believe you thought that Kristen Stewart was good at anything... I have seen pieces of furniture in films that had were better in them than any performance she has ever given...

    Chapter 13

This is already my favorite series online... As much as I love the CAP series, this is the one for me. I love how Mark is able to weave the history into the story and keep it fresh and interesting...

    Chapter 12

Well, Travers and Granger got back together for at least a little while. I really like the interplay between them. You can tell they care about each other and it is clearly more than sex. I love how Granger takes care of his men, he kept them together and then made sure they are going to all get back to their ship...

    Chapter 11

I just knew the Captain would be a good f**k... I am glad that Granger found someone to help ease his lonliness from losing Travers. I see he already has an admirer in the midshipmen. Granger got past the Wilcox's again, but have to wonder how long he will have to put up with that. Such a quick promotion to Lt is really unsusual, of course, being the person he is could we expect anything less from Granger...
  20. centexhairysub

    Chapter 10

Damn, Granger is going to be seperated from Travers now... Well promotion and movement was something that occured in the Royal navy at a moments notice. Granger is well equiped to handle his new responsiblities and Travers is getting a command... After his father's actions, I am really shocked that could happen... Well done by all, and especially Mark for writing this wonderful drama..
  21. centexhairysub

    Chapter 9

Damn, lucky Granger, he is getting it from Travers and now the Captain; the two sexiest men on board, at least on paper... I am glad to see that Travers isn't getting all up in arms; he understands and probably wishes he was in Granger's place at least a little bit.. Ugh, damn, family shows up in the most unexpected places...
  22. centexhairysub

    Chapter 8

Granger handles himself as well at Court as he does on the ship. I guess we should really not expect anything less from a scion of such a well connected and titled family but still he is mature beyond his years in so many ways... Well, Granger's might end up with more with one brother down; now if we could just rid of the other one, he could be the next Earl... He and Travers seem to have the best Christmas gifts, each other... Winkler got a great one as well, a better doctor probably made it so he will be able to move and get around like new...
  23. centexhairysub

    Chapter 7

Well, Granger saves another one... He is the kind of person that really cares about those under him. He is the kind of person that would work to make sure those employeed by him or working on his estates were taken care of even if it meant a little less money for him. That would have made him a rarity. Winkler and Granger are now linked. Will Travers and Granger end up linked as well???
  24. centexhairysub

    Chapter 6

Have to say, I am glad to see the backend of Wilcox; wonder if that will mark the end of someone trying to get to Granger. A ship needs to be cohesive and someone trying to get someone else would make that hard to do... Well, Granger got to serve under Travers and royalty, not just everyone could say that... I could see Travers being someone that Granger gets more serious about as time goes by... The writing for the battle scene was just first rate. I would think that would be very hard to do...
  25. centexhairysub

    Chapter 5

Well, have to wonder if anyone but Wilcox has it in for Granger... Cutting that rope could easily end his life, if he hadn't been so observant. If Granger was a little older, he might realize that there is more than one reason that Travers would be getting cozy so to speak with the Frenchman... This story is just wonderful...
