I really hate that Jeff is right but for all the wrong reasons. He doesn't understand that you can love two people. JP loves Jeff but Andre has first dibs on his heart... It is so sad how Vietnam destroyed so many lives, not just those that lost theirs but so many that came back were so damaged they never really recovered. It was the first war that the US waged that we really were in the wrong...

It is so hard to choose between two people that both mean a lot to you but in such different ways. I loved how JP and Andre connected again but hate how this made Jeff feel. Jeff was just getting on his feet and finding himself, and this is a set back for him. I really do hate that JP seems to get involved with those that work for him. This wasn't such an issue back then but would be a kiss of death today...

I just loved the scene with JP protecting Jeff and Frank coming in there fist flying to save them both. Sad to remember that JP and Frank's relationship, while not as involved lasted so much longer than JP and Jeff... The scene with JP and Bill Hendrickson was just perfectly written. It had so much raw emotion just under the surface.

This was such a fun chapter. JP finally got to be his self, up to a point with someone in his life. He was able to open a crack into his psyche and let someone have a small peek. Jason has some real issues, but JP is the kind of person that won't be able to stay out of it. Peter made good and will get even better.

I thought Granger handled the situation with the senior Travers with the utmost class and fortitude. He did not let the man bully him but explained the situation without going into areas that the senior Travers had no right to know. I can see Granger being in the thick of the upcoming battle on Nelson's ship. You know that Nelson was wounded and taken below, Nelson believed that he was dying; but the wound turned out to be rather superficial and he was back in the fray in no time. While he is below maybe Granger will take command.... LOL... This is truly one of the finest examples of historical fiction that I have ever read anywhere...

I am really sad about the divorce. As I stated in my review, Isidore has always been one of my favorite of the second line players in this story. Over the past thirty plus years, she and JP have really had a great life together and the good they have done for each other has far out stripped the negative. The only thing she ever really did that truly bothered me was her reaction to Billy and Brad's fight and I actually understood where she was coming from even then. Billy was her biological child and no matter how much she cared for Brad; the instinct to protect your young really overcomes anything else. Isidore has done as much for JP as JP has done for her. We don't know what really brought about the request for the divorce at this time; the issue with the party may have brought it to a head, but I don't think it was a deciding factor. If Isidore and Frank want to get married, I can at least understand that. Both JP and Isidore are very wealthy so I can't really see any fight over money, plus there was a contract signed before they got married and although they have both made tons of money since; I think the basic outline for protecting each of them would already be in place. From the reviews, I have to say that it seems a large number of people reading this story appear to be femalephobic. Most of the times we have seen Isidore over the years she has been there standing with JP and the kids and doing what she can to support them and protect them and those they love. I really don't understand the irrational feelings people seem to have about Isidore. Maybe that is the therapist in me coming out, but I just don't... I am really annoyed at Brad and Stef both. Stef really betrayed Will and so did Brad. The fact that Brad went to Jeanine, no matter what his motive was, and told her about the room is truly a questionable move. Will and Jeanine are just starting to repair their relationship and Brad almost seems to be going out of his way to find ways to deter this. Is he so jealous of the idea that Jeanine and Will might get along that he feels the need to wreck it??? Stef will have to really work to repair the damage he has done by going behind Will's back to Brad. JP was completely right and I think by the time he got through talking to Stef, he understands that... A truly great chapter....

I loved that song and it is just perfect for that moment...

Who should Will wind up with?

Okay, I actually wanted to vote for some as of yet unseen protagonist but really feel that is not in the spirit of the poll... Of those listed, I really think that only Alistair is the kind of person that Will would really be with in the long term. I think that John is basically straight but will play on the side; I actually could see him with Tony, if Tony did major amounts of therapy and dealt with his issues but...; I just don't feel that Jeff is a fit for him; and while I really like Kai, I don't see him growing to the level that Will would require to stay with him forever, Kai may go to college or may not but he will never leave Hawaii and will never really do anything more than surf. There is certainly nothing wrong with that but it isn't what is going to hold Will at 35 to him... -
Granger handled his situation with the senior Travers in just the perfect way. He did not let the man bully him and gave him the facts but did not expand on anything that really mattered. It had to be hard for Granger to relive that horrible ordeal but as always he did it with class and courage. I am so excited that Granger will be at the Battle of the Nile. I am sure he will stay with Nelson and be in the thick of the action. Nelson was actually wounded in the battle and thought he was dying but it turned out it wasn't as bad as he feared and he re-entered the fray. I am sure that Granger will be a help to him all along the way. Mark, the style and substance of your stories is more than anyone can ask for; you are truly an artist...

Tonto is, has, and always will be my favorite CAP player, well except for JP... She understands life and the issues and end the end always does what is right, maybe more so than anyone else. This is another one of the truly bittersweet chapters when dealing with JP and Jeff for me. It is hard for me not to cry when I think of what is coming...

This was the first time that JP really compartmentalized his life. He did what was necessary to deal with Jensen and put it in a different part of his mind and just dealt with it. He is able to made a decision then divorce himself from the consequences of that decision. It takes a really clear mind and strong will to do this...

JP made a mistake with this. I know that he felt he was turning the tables on Mallory but he took it way to far. His desire for justice could destroy him in this case. The fact that Mallory would never want this to come out is what will save him... We may have just found Jensen's kryptonite...

Andre is back for a visit but I have to wonder if Andre and Jeff were both in front of JP, who would he have picked? Andre because he was first or Jeff with the amazing connection. Of course, he could have just suggested a three-way... JP is correct in his dealing with Jensen. You just can't put up with a bully. The second they have you running, you can't ever get rid of them.
-
JP is the kind of man that always tries to make everyone happy. He does what he can to ease the burden of others, within reason, but he really does care. I doubt that Jeff was really asleep but...
-
It is amazing to me how often in life we have to deal with those like Jensen. Why does it hurt to be if not nice at least neutral? JP handled the situation perfectly. Someone from his level just understands how the game is played and what it take to win.

I just love how comfortable JP and Jeff are with each other from the start. It made the future just that much sadder. Tonto loves JP, maybe more than JP even realizes now. I love the feel of the story, the flow of it. The people in this story just draw you in and keep you interested.

This was the real Jeff. This is who he was at his core. It is so sad what drugs and other things can do to a person. Jeff had so much promise that was just unrealized. Sammy understood and realized the situation with Stefan better than anyone else except for JP. Tonto was mad at JP, maybe even furious, but she the fact that she did nothing else showed that either she suspected more than she said or her love for JP was such that not even this could really damage it. Tonto proves in the end that she is JP's biggest supporter... Stefan is easy to blame but very few if any sixteen year olds would have been willing at the time to defend JP. At that age, it is just easier to try and fade into the background rather than get dragged into the spotlight.

The way that JP, who had always been closer to his mother, realized what a truly great man his "father" is was just perfect. They writing was truly first rate and I felt JP love for the man come through so true. Our first look at Jeff, not an auspicious one, was so bittersweet. Jeff became so much a part of JP life and to this day everytime I read a chapter with him in it; I sigh...

This was where JP really became a man. He found out his background and decided to honor the decisions made from the past. This secret would be one that both molded him and haunted him for decades to come...

Well, I am very sad about the idea of a divorce. For most of the last thirty plus years, JP and Isidore have been a great team and really complimented and helped each other. It was never a grand love affair but they did sleep together a few times and always seemed to care about each other. They had their issues, Isidore being blinded by Billy was always the big one. But each of them really worked to make the other happy and comfortable. If she wants the divorce so that she and Frank can marry, I can sort of see that on some level. They are both extremely wealthy and I can't see an issue with money coming up. Honestly, Isidore has always been one of my favorite of the supporting players in this drama and I think this will be a huge blow to JP... I have been saying for a while that Brad is in some ways more immature at his age than Will is as a teenager. I have never been someone that was all that wrapped up in Brad like so many on here. Brad maybe a great titan of industry but he has never really been a great person. The fact that he told Jeanine about the issue with Will is really just beyond the pale. Jeanine and Will are just starting to try and repair their relationship; Brad's actions seem designed to keep them apart. You have to ask yourself, why??? Stef has always been on Brad's side even when he probably should not have been. I really have issues with him telling Brad every little thing that Will does that he finds out about. I don't really think Will needs a "sex" room but Will isn't doing have the things at his age that Stef was... The more I see of Hank, I think she may do Jeanine a world of good if they are together long enough...

JP is just learning what really makes himself tick. He is going to learn to control his emotions and learn to compartmentalize so much better. It is nice to see him with a little doubt. At this point, you really couldn't still fully trust Stefan but he already had that certain something...
-
Well, JP and Stef bonded over sex... You can see why JP was worried about Stef but he overcame those early issues and worked to make himself a better person; but you still never did want to cross him.
-
Our first look at Stef, how much courage it must have taken to make the journey that he did at such a young age and all alone... It is funny to see how people react so differently to the same situation...
-
The kind of love that JP and Andre have is so pure and special that only a few are ever blessed with it. JP knows that he is lucky and blessed. I love how calm JP is in a crisis once he has thought it through, so few really are...

I really like how JP was with the professor. I thought he handled the encounter really well. His dalliance with Marc was a little out of place for him but it was sort of hot. The first glimpse of the future Mrs JP Crampton...
