Well, I am very sad about the idea of a divorce. For most of the last thirty plus years, JP and Isidore have been a great team and really complimented and helped each other. It was never a grand love affair but they did sleep together a few times and always seemed to care about each other. They had their issues, Isidore being blinded by Billy was always the big one. But each of them really worked to make the other happy and comfortable. If she wants the divorce so that she and Frank can marry, I can sort of see that on some level. They are both extremely wealthy and I can't see an issue with money coming up. Honestly, Isidore has always been one of my favorite of the supporting players in this drama and I think this will be a huge blow to JP... I have been saying for a while that Brad is in some ways more immature at his age than Will is as a teenager. I have never been someone that was all that wrapped up in Brad like so many on here. Brad maybe a great titan of industry but he has never really been a great person. The fact that he told Jeanine about the issue with Will is really just beyond the pale. Jeanine and Will are just starting to try and repair their relationship; Brad's actions seem designed to keep them apart. You have to ask yourself, why??? Stef has always been on Brad's side even when he probably should not have been. I really have issues with him telling Brad every little thing that Will does that he finds out about. I don't really think Will needs a "sex" room but Will isn't doing have the things at his age that Stef was... The more I see of Hank, I think she may do Jeanine a world of good if they are together long enough...

JP is just learning what really makes himself tick. He is going to learn to control his emotions and learn to compartmentalize so much better. It is nice to see him with a little doubt. At this point, you really couldn't still fully trust Stefan but he already had that certain something...
-
Well, JP and Stef bonded over sex... You can see why JP was worried about Stef but he overcame those early issues and worked to make himself a better person; but you still never did want to cross him.
-
Our first look at Stef, how much courage it must have taken to make the journey that he did at such a young age and all alone... It is funny to see how people react so differently to the same situation...
-
The kind of love that JP and Andre have is so pure and special that only a few are ever blessed with it. JP knows that he is lucky and blessed. I love how calm JP is in a crisis once he has thought it through, so few really are...

I really like how JP was with the professor. I thought he handled the encounter really well. His dalliance with Marc was a little out of place for him but it was sort of hot. The first glimpse of the future Mrs JP Crampton...

The relastionship between JP and Billy was so sweet and sad. Even the first time I read this, I just new that it was never going anywhere. Billy had such an air of doom about him. Of course, this lead to one of the most important relationships JP ever had, with Billy's "son" Brad...

Well, we got a look at two people that will remain in the story for years to come; Tonto and Frank. Tonto seemed the same really from the first time we saw her until the last, while Frank changed so much over the years. It was so nice to go over their introduction to us again...

I just loved how JP handled the situation at the bar-b-que place. My grandmother traveled the south quite often in the early and mid 60's and often was in the company of people of color as she said. She told several really funny stories about eating in places like that were she was the only white person. It says a lot about JP how he handled himself and the situation.

This was a great chapter. It showed how much courage and resourcefullness that JP had even from a young age. JP really did have so much more courage than even he suspected.

Prologue and Chapter 1
centexhairysub commented on Mark Arbour's story chapter in Prologue and Chapter 1
I am going back and rereading this for the fourth or fifth time. I have decided to add reviews to up the count on the stories. I really enjoyed the peek into life back in the early 60's. It is amazing to me that the level of fear and paranoia was so rampant. I guess the fact that being caught or labeled as gay really could end a career or even a life back then. The writing really reflects that levell of fear and is conveyed so perfectly. -
Oh My Freaking God... I just don't even know what to say. Of all the people that I could have thought of to be aboard the ship, Travers' father is just one that I would have never suspected. I don't even know what to say. I have to believe that Granger will be torn between wanting to kill the man for hurting Travers and making his life so hard and wanting to connect with the man responsible for Travers existence. I don't even begin to imagine what Granger is going through at this moment. I have to wonder if Travers father even knows of his death??? Travers had certainly severed all relations with his father but could the news have come to him from another source? I have to believe that Granger and this ship will run into the British fleet before they are very far into their voyage. I just can't believe that Granger could be this close to such a pivotal battle and not get to take part in it even if it was in a small way. Bravo for this one, this is just one suprise that may be damn near impossible to top...

Well, much like Tim; I am glad he is taking care of his father and not a child. I have to admit that I did not see this coming. I guess I should since I have done the same thing although to a lesser extent for two of my grandparents in the past. It takes a special kind of person to do what Kai and his mother is doing. I thought Will handled the situation really well. Okay, I know this will be a shock to everyone but Tim and I disagree about Will's seduction of Malcolm. What I took from the writing was that Malcolm really wanted to do this with Will but was very reluctant because of the age issue. Honestly, he should have run but he did not. Will just got him to do what he really wanted to do anyway. That being said, I too was very dissapointed in Will. I know he was feeling vulnerable about Kai and that was part of what egged him on but I had hoped he would have made a better decision. I do think it was important that Will realized what he did was wrong and the fact he felt guilty makes me think he has matured in some ways more than we all suspect. He needs to be honest with Kai but I am not sure that either of them are really ready for that. Can't wait for Jeanine and Hank to visit with Maddie. Great work Mark, this is going to get good.

Well, Granger was right. It took a couple of dead bodies for his guide to assert himself and stay in control, even if the first one was courtesy of Granger. Glad to see that Granger was able to find someone to keep him entertained. Those pesky French are going to be in for a suprise. I have to admit, that I wonder if Granger will work his way around them or find a way to join the fleet before the big battle. Really glad that Jardines and Jacobs have made been able to catch up with Granger. I do have to wonder if they found comfort with each other on their journey... They will be a help to Granger with what is coming... Great work on this chapter and can't wait to see where Mark takes us next.

Is Kai a father??? I am starting to wonder if he has a kid that he is taking care of in the evenings where the mother can go to school or work or just have some time to herself. The fact that he admits to a girlfriend last year makes this even more of a possibility. Are you sure that is all the guys that Will has been with? I am going to have to think a bit and see what I come up with. Really happy to see Jeanine, Hank, and Maddie coming out to Hawaii and to see Will. I hope that this calm before the storm helps center everyone. It is so great to see Will and Brad doing well, plus we have Stef around so much to help with the hosue and just getting to spend time with Will. Great job as always...

Well, I loved the new chapter. Granger gets to find out what Caroline has to put up with just a lot more intensive. I do hope that Jardines and Jacobs are close because I have a feeling that Granger and his crew are going to have to rescue the Egyptian artistocrat from his men. Granger is quick to realize that the men don't seem to respect the officers but what is worse is that the officers don't seem to be able to enforce their will on the men. In the British system, even if the officer wasn't respected; he was at least obeyed because you couldn't afford not to and keep your back smooth. I have to wonder how Granger will arrive in Alexandria, in the hijab or in uniform??? Oh, plus I forgot to comment on the pic of the arabic man in the story... Is it Omar Borkan al-Gala? He was the man supposedly kicked out of Saudi Arabia for being so good looking that they were afraid he would cause the women to forget themselves...

Hmmm... Interesting that you all keep assuming that JJ is going to make it to 25...

9-11 Poll: Who doesn't make it
centexhairysub replied to Mark Arbour's topic in Mark Arbour Fan Club's Topics
Even though I had to vote for someone to die in order to vote that JP could not be killed; I still say no one in the family or even close has to die for a connection to be made... -
I loved " Crystal Blue Persuasion ", I always loved Tommy James and the Shondells... I really do think the best period of music of all times was from 1957 to 1973... The songs seemed more original and honestly the singers seemed to be better well, singers...

Well, I just loved this newest chapter. Granger has his three years in and gets his second epaulette so he will look more balanced. I am sure that he will need all kinds of additional outerwear that can be picked up once he gets back to England. I hope that Jardines and Jacobs are close. I have a feeling that Granger and his crew may end up saving the Egyptian aristocrat before this is through. No matter what he thinks, Granger is right and the men don't respect him. If I am not mistaken, the picture is Omar Borkan al-Gala. He was supposedly told to leave Saudi Arabia because he was so good looking it was feared that his looks would lead women astray. He is a model that is based out of somewhere in Canada, I believe. I do have to admit those eyes are piercing...

Really enjoyed this latest chapter, a Valentine's Day chapter on a dreary day here in Texas was a real bright spot... I thought the set up and scene with Max and Josh were just perfect. They connect on so many levels that it is just great. The writing when dealing with them seems to just flow on the page. How the scene went from romantic to sexy was really well done. I also really liked the scene with Mark and Tom. You can tell that it seems to be harder for you to write their scenes as the words don't seem to have the same flow but then they are dealing with a much more chaotic atmosphere. Still, the electricity was crackling between them from the first. Great job and hope the next update is soon...

Will handled the second email to Tony much better than the first. I think that he was really hurt by Tony's behaviour and that showed in the first email. Because of his issues with this father, Tony needs to start keeping his word and maybe spend some time in counseling. I think that their issues with their fathers is part of what drew Tony and Will together; well that and the great sex... I hate that Kai got labeled because of what happened in one relationship with someone with money. It is very easy for someone with money to not realize how they are affecting the person they are with by being too free with gifts and cash. People always want to believe the worse. I can't wait to see what Stef does with the house and we have to find out soon what Kai is up to. Great chapter and can't wait for the next update.

Granger did the right thing and was anyone really suprised? I have to admit the way he has handled the situation with Jardines and coming to terms with the past was masterfully written. It rang just so true to form for what Granger has become. I have to admit, I am glad that Granger and Jardines ended up in bed together. I have to wonder if Granger will ever end up on top with him? Jardines does seem a total top kinda guy though. If Granger is going to get to Egypt in time to play any meaningful part in the Battle of the Nile, they are going to have to pick up their pace at some point. Although, I do like how Granger dealt with the delay; it showed a great deal of patience and maturity. I have to wonder if even Granger can get Jardines banishment lifted completely. I could see him maybe getting it modified so Jardines could end up somewhere more suitable to his taste. Maybe Granger's grandfather could use some help???
-
Well, did anyone doubt that Granger would come to the right conclusion and do the right thing? I have to wonder if Granger will be able to get Jardines completely back to England but maybe he can get him to somewhere more to his liking, perhaps Canada or Australia or maybe his grandfather could use some help??? The Battle of the Nile or Aboukir Bay takes place August 1st and 2nd of 1798. If Granger is going to get to Egypt in time to really be involved then they are going to have to pick up the pace of the voyage at some point. Granger is going to hate being close but missing something this important... Can't wait for the next chapter, this is just the best...

Don't forget that Isidore's construction company was or is one of the largest on the West Coast plus, JP's branch of the family still controls 15 percent or more of Crampton Construction, on of the largest construction companies in the US at least in the story... I have to wonder if at some point Isidore's company wasn't merged in with Stef's real estate company but I don't every remember this being discussed. You haven't heard about Isidore's company in any story since "The Land Whore" at least not that I can remember. That being said it just didn't disolve did it? I actually could see Will as a professor at least in Marine Biology or Enviromental Studies. I actually know a tenured professor in both of these areas and neither are really structured. Neither is a Department Chair, at that level you have to play way to many politics; but both of them really enjoy their teaching and research work. They get to spend a great deal of time out of the classroom and neither seems to work in a structured enviroment, at least that I can tell. I don't see Will being a professor in a mainline department but something offbeat that the rest of the school doesn't pay to much attention to would fit him well. That being said, I think Tim could be right. Will has the mind to work in the investment side of the family business. The question that I would have is does he have the passion or desire? I can't see Will doing anything he doesn't care about...
