Okay, I spent way to much time writing in the review section so I have no time for this section... I am going to simply post what I wrote there here, and I will argue with Tim about it later... Well, I never thought I would live to see the day that Robbie was the calm and controlled one of the pair. I really think that Brad has lost his mind and I am starting to think that Stef is following him down the rabbit hole. I know that all the Bradophiles are up in arms about how mistreated Brad is but I think they are all nuts... I just got through re-reading Be Rad and except for the destruction of property issue, Brad was much more out of control at the time of that story then Will is now; plus he was a couple of years older in age but obviously not in maturity. I am actually questioning whether or not Brad is as mature now as Will is during this story. Brad did a lot more drugs and drinking than Will has ever done. Except for pot, has there been any sign of Will doing any drugs? Brad did pot, coke, and mushrooms on a regular basis; plus Robbie says acid, although I really don't remember this from Be Rad. Brad was drunk just about every weekend and quite often during the week during Be Rad; I can only think of a hand full of times Will has even drank. You never saw him really drink in Hawaii; my guess is the bar is really more for visitors not for Will, himself. Now, I will give you that Will has slept with more guys than Brad but I think after going back over Be Rad that Brad had as much or more sex just with a fewer number of guys. Plus, if Brad hadn't been so paranoid about anyone knowing he was gay; he would have been a much bigger slut than Will has been. Brad had a pretty high number count for his age and that was with him being a paranoid closet case for years... Brad took part in several orgies while visiting Stef and we never really got a full view of his actions in them; so we can't even be sure that Will has actually slept with more men than Brad did in all honesty. Brad was also in several fights when he was Will's age, I can't recall Will ever beating anyone up. Finally, Brad was willing to destroy people, I mean actually ruin their lives when he was Will's age; that doesn't seem like anything that Will would ever do, or at least not over as little as Brad was willing to do it for... The only thing that Will has done that I think is in error is cutting off all communication with his father except for conversations when other people are around and he is trying to keep it friendly but benign. The problem he has though is that everytime he tries to keep it benign; Brad wigs out and loses it. I really believe that Will would make an effort if Brad did not attack him everytime he opens his mouth. Plus, Brad's constant threats to go back to court is getting old. Honestly, he just needs to keep his mouth shut. Legally, he might win but it would be like the person that cuts off his nose to spite his face... Brad is like so many people that get to a certain age and seem to forget all the shit they did when they were young; it is like they mentally sanitize their past. Will did not kick Brad out of Escorial, Brad's behaviour brought that about... Stef has always been Brad's biggest backer. When he and Brad became blood brothers all those years ago in Paris, Stef took it to heart. The problem is that Stef seems to be blind to how Brad treats others; which is often really badly. It is one thing to want to support and stand by someone because you care; it is another to enable them to destroy lives and run roughshod over everyone in their path. I could actually see JP and Stef breaking up if Stef cannot take a step back from his behaviour on this matter. I think that Claire and Jack are moving on John because they don't want him to get as out of control as Marie has become. It seems the situation with Marie has come out of no where to some extent and they both seem blindsided by her change in behaviour, I still have to wonder what set this off... They want to make sure that John knows they don't approve of his having sex with just everybody... I am not sure they have handled everything in the best manner but they are making an effort; which is more than I can say for Brad. I can't wait for the upcoming conversation between JP and Will... Don't make us wait too long, please Mark....

I really loved all the songs here, they were much more in general from the period of me growing up, god I feel old sometimes... I cannot believe you thought that Kristen Stewart was good at anything... I have seen pieces of furniture in films that had were better in them than any performance she has ever given...

This is already my favorite series online... As much as I love the CAP series, this is the one for me. I love how Mark is able to weave the history into the story and keep it fresh and interesting...

Well, Travers and Granger got back together for at least a little while. I really like the interplay between them. You can tell they care about each other and it is clearly more than sex. I love how Granger takes care of his men, he kept them together and then made sure they are going to all get back to their ship...

I just knew the Captain would be a good f**k... I am glad that Granger found someone to help ease his lonliness from losing Travers. I see he already has an admirer in the midshipmen. Granger got past the Wilcox's again, but have to wonder how long he will have to put up with that. Such a quick promotion to Lt is really unsusual, of course, being the person he is could we expect anything less from Granger...

Damn, Granger is going to be seperated from Travers now... Well promotion and movement was something that occured in the Royal navy at a moments notice. Granger is well equiped to handle his new responsiblities and Travers is getting a command... After his father's actions, I am really shocked that could happen... Well done by all, and especially Mark for writing this wonderful drama..

Damn, lucky Granger, he is getting it from Travers and now the Captain; the two sexiest men on board, at least on paper... I am glad to see that Travers isn't getting all up in arms; he understands and probably wishes he was in Granger's place at least a little bit.. Ugh, damn, family shows up in the most unexpected places...

Granger handles himself as well at Court as he does on the ship. I guess we should really not expect anything less from a scion of such a well connected and titled family but still he is mature beyond his years in so many ways... Well, Granger's might end up with more with one brother down; now if we could just rid of the other one, he could be the next Earl... He and Travers seem to have the best Christmas gifts, each other... Winkler got a great one as well, a better doctor probably made it so he will be able to move and get around like new...

Well, Granger saves another one... He is the kind of person that really cares about those under him. He is the kind of person that would work to make sure those employeed by him or working on his estates were taken care of even if it meant a little less money for him. That would have made him a rarity. Winkler and Granger are now linked. Will Travers and Granger end up linked as well???

Have to say, I am glad to see the backend of Wilcox; wonder if that will mark the end of someone trying to get to Granger. A ship needs to be cohesive and someone trying to get someone else would make that hard to do... Well, Granger got to serve under Travers and royalty, not just everyone could say that... I could see Travers being someone that Granger gets more serious about as time goes by... The writing for the battle scene was just first rate. I would think that would be very hard to do...

Well, have to wonder if anyone but Wilcox has it in for Granger... Cutting that rope could easily end his life, if he hadn't been so observant. If Granger was a little older, he might realize that there is more than one reason that Travers would be getting cozy so to speak with the Frenchman... This story is just wonderful...

For all of the work in trying to keep it secret, I would have to think that someone would be wise to them, not just Wilcox and his guessing... On a ship like that, I would think anything happening without someone knowing would be a miracle. Have to wonder what the story with Robey is; you know there is more to it than what is being told. Great chapter.

Well, Granger made a conquest in Iggy and then played the knight on a white horse to the men in danger. Granger is quick witted, brave, smart, and LUCKY... This will serve him well...

Well, Granger certainly comes across at the scion of a well to do family. I have to admit he is almost too polished for his age but he pulls it off. I can't wait to see how he handles Iggy, you just know that Granger will end up on top...

Well, you can tell already after one chapter who Granger is going to have problems with and who he will end up with at least in some manner. Wilcox is going to cause problems, have to wonder why he took an instant dislike to Granger, and Travers is going to be who Granger ends up caring about. I can see a few others in the work and of course, the Captain is all powerful, but he does seem to be interesting at least...

I love British history, especially from the last 1400's to early 1800's so this fits in my area perfectly. I can't wait to see how the blend of naval and court life both play out. There were quite a few quirks in the British navy and it's traditions, I love that you have taken time to pick at least some of them up...

I had to take off yesterday before I got to the forum. I really enjoyed this chapter. I thought the fighting and destruction on the ships were so well written and really put us all in the middle of the battle. Everytime we meet someone and they die quickly; I end up thinking, what would this person have added to the story down the line... My understanding of the situation is the same as Mark; officers or nobility were often released quite quickly in relation to the ordinary sailor. In this case, the officers were released post haste but the sailors were actually forced to help repair the ships, which was against the norm of the day; and did not get released until freed by a Russian naval force that went into battle against the French and defeated them at Corfu in 1799. Just a note, Santa Clarita is in the Atlantic and no where near where Granger is at this time. There would be no reason for that ship to enter into the Mediterranean Sea. The HMS Mutine actually was the second ship sent to carry the news of the British victory at the Battle of the NIle and it arrived first with the news. Berry and Thompson both actually were rewarded because of how well they fought and both were given additional commands. Some historians have argued that had Thompson mainted the sails as they cleared the island, that he would have been able to outrun the ship. However, no one would ever be able to really prove this so who knows.... Outstanding chapter, Mark... I can't wait for Granger to get on his way. I bet that gold does come in handy however, I wonder if that was Winkler or Granger's idea???

I don't know; I have trouble seeing Marie as really delusional. I think she really believes she is justifyed in her actions for whatever reason; she is actually a lot like Brad was in Be Rad just more extreme. I think she knows what she is doing is wrong, she just feels that the situation warrants it. Don't forget, Brad was willing to ruin his best friend to save his reputation in Be Rad

Yea, as we get closer to that day; I can't wait and yet dread each coming chapter. That day really shook me because when it happened, I just knew what was coming... To some extent for any generation to young to really remember Pearl Harbour; this became our day of infamy...

Congrats to Mark on having three stories in the top ten most reviewed on this site; 9/11 just checked in today as number 10. Well, today was the first day that I noticed it... LOL...

This was considered a great victory by the French, it was blown up a bit after the disaster of the Nile defeat, but in reality the French ship had more than twice the firepower of the British ship and the odds were long against any victory by the British. We haven't seen it yet, but the behaviour of the French crew and captain after this battle is considered by many to be on the par with the lowest of the low...

I really like the Hornblower series but think one made from the Bridgemont series would be even better... Maybe get Showtime or HBO to put it on; I guess PBS might if Channel 4 in England would do the original and replay it on PBS...

I recently realized that almost none of the early stories in the CAP series have any reviews. I started with the first and just finished going through Be Rad adding one for each chapter. Most of them have just been a couple of sentences but I really think that stories a great as these truly deserve to have reviews on each chapter. I know there are others like me that have gone through and re-read the stories more than once, I wish people would think about adding reviews to those stories that we have all read and loved already... I really don't remember a chapter review button when I started reading the story on this site...
