  1. Well, Adele is brilliant but British and compared to Jonas Brothers or Miley Cyrus or hell even Selena Gomez, who is actually better than the first two mentioned; how many albums has Foster the People sold?? They are actually really good but the taste of the American public has slipped so far that so many good artist are overshadowed by those with little to no talent but great Producers and Managers...
  2. Yes, I agree with Mark; I doubt very seriously if Caroline had any idea that anyone was aware of her assignations with Silly Billy. Few people are ever self aware enough to see how others see them and their actions, I do think that George's behaviour has probably clued her in more than anything else. She knows that George loves her and for him to take the actions he has, I really believe she will realize soon was the only way to work their way out of this situation.
  3. Yes, I knew officially that all culture and taste in the US was really dead at this time.... The Justin Bieber really confirmed it...
  4. I have to wonder if that old abbey that the Earl has given to George isn't about to see an influx of seaman... I did wonder about the party, I guess Chartley can act as host and Granger as hostess. LOL... I really want to see Granger and Chartley spend some serious time together. I also hope that Granger is able to keep most of his crew together. I don't think that Granger is going to have to take care of Silly Billy, once the King knows, I think Silly Billy will get more than he deserves. George III was known as a strict moralist and a committed family man. Silly Billy will see some serious repercussions from this, escpecially since Granger is also so well liked by the King. I do have to think that Caroline will come to her senses and realize the situation and will work with George to make the best of all of this. I can see all of this working out to Granger's benefit in the end.
  5. I just don't even know where to start after reading the latest chapter of St. Vincent. Let me start here, several comments over the last few months have made mention of my keen intrest and knowldedge of the era in question. I love history... All the way through school, both high school and college, it was my favorite subject by far. On top of that I am a voracious reader, I average two to three books a week every week, and once again either historical fiction, biographys, or well anything historical is always my first choice. I think my love of history is what has drawn me so deeply to all of Mark's stories. His ability to tie his stories into real events and place them in such perfect context is just unparalled. Okay, first off what the hell is going on with Caroline. Even if this guy is a member of the royal family, anyone who's actual nickname is Silly Billy, and it was really what he was known as, can't be as interesting as Granger. On top of that, after what she just went through bringing out Davina's behaviour this just seems to weaken her own position with that. Then not to be discreet is just puzzling, is she trying to tell Granger that she wants him home for a while in a backhanded way? This would appear to be an action that will hurt her in so many different ways and reduce the amount of influence she has not just within the family but society at large. Arthur and Cavendish need to get there act together. I actually think they would make a good couple, they both seem interested in many of the same things. They could be a real power couple. Right now, they are both in the House of Commons, but one day, Arthur could be high up in the House of Commons and Cavendish could be a major play in the House of Lords. I don't know that either of them would be very good at being just with each other, after all, a threesome with Granger would be a delight, or so I would think. Even taking that into affect, I would think they could work it out and stay together. Arthur needs to learn to control his jealousy while Cavendish needs to move past his seeming infatuation with Granger. I know that Cavendish and Granger were close to each other, but it always seemed to me that Cavendish was more infatuated with Granger than in love with him. Plus, with Granger being gone for long periods of time, and Cavendish because of his injury tied more to shore, they just can't be much more than good friends with some benefits. Now to the Earl, I am so glad to see that Granger and his father have begun to repair their relationship. The Earl always seemed to me to be the main anchor in Granger's life; even after his marriage to Caroline, his father played a major role in his life. I do think that the Earl is being a little self deluding to think that Freddie and Davina are going to come back from Bermuda all grown up and behaving better. But what you need to think about is that life in the tropics was very dangerous, plus the voyage has it's own hazards. You know, they could get a fever and never recover or just any of a number of things could occur so that they never saw the shores of England again. And then there was Lord Chartley, I am just so in love with the man I imagine him to be. I really think that he maybe the one that Granger is destined to really be with in the end. I can't wait to see what all they get up to at Brentwood. There is just something about how Mark writes about him, his persona is just so wonderful. I have to think that a few days with him and Granger will be back much more on an even keel. All hail Sir George, he is the best....
  6. Well, the new chapter of Paternity certainly had a few moments... I just love that Wade and Matt seem so much stronger now than when this story started. Even after everything that happened and what all went on, they worked through it and came out stronger as a couple. I am glad we are getting to see more of Wade's family, Trevor appears to be delightful while Mary Ellen appears to a bitch... They will both add some excitement to the storyline. You have to wonder now if she wasn't the one pulling Carl's strings all along and trying to cause all the problems with Wade and Matt, I said even then that Carl wasn't smart enough to be the one really behind it. I do hope that we get some more time with Sean and Wade together. This seems to be a relationship that might dovetail rather nicely into in Wade and Matt's. There really hasn't been a true polyamorous relationship in the series since back in 1968, although that one didn't turn out very well. Maybe this one would work out better, Wade seems like the kind of guy that could keep more than one man happy and in line. I still think that Tonto should come back as a ghost. It would be great to have her hovering over the dinner table while the whole family was there, I am sure she would be able to communicate in some form or fashion. I can't believe I am going to bring this up, because I have been one of the people arguing that no one in the family needed a direct connection to understand and be hurt by 9/11; but it would be so easy to see JJ and maybe even Jeanine on a plane coming back from some skating competition or meeting in New York on that terrible day.
  7. Well a royal addition to the family, even if not the way one would want it... In reality, Prince William, Duke of Gloucester and Edinburgh died without any issue. He was eventually given the title of Royal Highness after he married Princess Mary, the fourth daughter of George the III. The Prince Regent granted this honor upon the marriage as George III was fully incapacitated by this time. Interestingly enough, Prince William ended up favoring Queen Caroline in her battles against her husband George IV, the same Prince Regent who gave him the honor of adding Royal to his title. I mean being a mere Your Highness versus Your Royal Highness must have been terrible. I have to admit I am not suprised by Arthur's behaviour. This would not be the first time that Granger came in between him and someone he was involved in. I would have thought that Cavendish would have realized how Arthur would have felt and not been quite so exuberant upon Granger's return. Or maybe he should have offered Arthur the chance to join them, this might have defused some of the tension. Well, I can't wait to get the next chapter and devour it as soon as it is out. I was hoping for a reunion with Lord Chartley but if he is up in the country recovering that may have to wait. I just love this story....
  8. I have to wonder if we aren't all forgetting that this story is only presenting one frame or point of view at a time. We don't know what all Brad and Robbie do with JJ that isn't being mentioned because it isn't involving the current storyline. And yes, I do know this is only a story, but because of how well written it is; it pulls you in and makes you forget that this isn't real life you are having a small glimpse of. I don't doubt that Will is Brad's favorite, for a variety of reason, or that Darius is the one Robbie has bonded with the most but I also don't doubt that Brad and Robbie love JJ. I do think as we have seen that both of them may have to be reminded that with Jeanine out of commission that they need to pick up some slack, Will is doing a good job of reminding them as well as picking up some of the slack himself. All of this being said, the constant harping that somehow they are these horrible neglectful parents just does not seem to ring true. We need to remember that we are all seeing but one or two sides of the story right now while with this group there is many sides that while unviewed are still going on. I am sorry, I don't remember who but someone mentioned recently that Will was acting like or reminded them of Tonto, and I found this paticularly accurate. Like Tonto, Will can be prickly and bitchy, but also no one is more protective or will fight harder for their family or loved ones than Will, also a true trait direct from Tonto. I really miss Tonto... Can the series have a ghost???
  9. OMG!!!!!!!!! I just can't imagine who the father is going to be... Well, actually I can imagine a number of interesting possibilities but just can't imagine, oh hell OMG.... I loved that Granger is going to be there one last time for the men under his command and make sure that they are treated right after serving under him with such distinction. I am going to really hate it if we lose Jeffers, Holmquist, the Doctor, and the purser. This was a great bridge chapter and the next couple are going to be just well fabulous, I just know it...
  10. I thought the scene with Wade telling Matt about his uncle was just handled so perfectly. That relationship and how it ended impacted so much of how Wade handled himself and the world. This explained so much, maybe even more than the abuse by his Father. I just feel Wade and Matt are getting closer and more deeply involved even thought Wade is now starting to see other people. No matter what, I just can't see them not being in each others' life. I know it is coming, but I just can't get excited about 9/11 being introduced into the story. I know that something that important will be covered by Mark in a really impactful and tasteful way but just can't look forward to re-living it at all.
  11. Ordinary World by Duran Duran was just perfect at that moment. It really was the kind of song that would have made that moment just that much more impactful in a movie... Great Choice!!
  12. Well, the latest chapter was truly bittersweet. You have to wonder what is going to happen to all those men that have followed Granger from one ship to another??? Winkler will be devestated if he is seperated from Jeffers and what about Hercule and the Doctor and well all the rest. I do look forward to George getting to deal with some family issues but I will hate to have the ship "family" broken up...
  13. All great choices for this chapter... I have actually started looking at your music choices and pulling some of them up as I read. They do had a great touch to a great story...
  14. Just cannot tell you how much the latest chapter of Paternity rang true from start to finish, JJ's breakdown was so well written. It is so easy to see why this family makes it, because in the end they are always there when it matters. Ryan is acting to me like how he wishes someone in his family would act toward him. Is he an only child, has that ever been made clear? I think that what happened with Shiloh is that Ryan's father either said or did something that either made her break up with Ryan or made Ryan feel he couldn't be with her. You can tell that maybe he still has some type of feeling for her. I loved how Will dealt with Sean, that was just priceless. Plus, I have to wonder sometimes who the parent is between Will and his dad??? I mean a couple of times in this story he has been a better parent to JJ than Brad has been.
  15. I don't think marriage and kids mature a man at all. I have seen way to many men get married or father a child thinking it will help them grow up and it never does. My experience is that most men start coming into their own in their early to mid twenties, I do think that those that go to college to start a little earlier than those that do not. I never said they were mature at that age, just that they started coming into their own and they tend to know themselves better. I actually think that most gay men are more mature than straight ones, I think all the shit that a lot of gay men have to go through make them grow up and matue at a much faster rate than straights. Most of the perpetual child like men that I have known are straight, even the ones with kids and a wife...
  16. I have to agree with Mark about this, I do think that Wade and to a slighly lesser extent Matt are both really coming into their own. My experience is that most men seem to start coming into their own during the last year or two of college or around mid twenties without college. I do think that women in general come into their own a couple of years earlier but that is another topic for another forum. Matt loves Wade more than anything and although he doesn't seem as mature and together as Wade, he will keep pace to some extent because he won't want Wade to outgrow him. If you don't grown within the relationship, you will usually lose the relationship.
  17. I don't think that Kerry was underdeveloped at all. My reading on this was that Kerry and Somers probably had a long standing desire to be together and finally got a chance to take it beyond boyhood indiscretions and took it... I was sort of wondering if Kerry's behaviour with Granger wasn't partly his sublimation of his feeling for Somers which he didn't think he could really ever act on, being the nominal head of the family... Kerry and Somers both acted like two men that had wanted each other for a long time and finally got a chance to really get together and enjoy each other...
  18. Yes, love me some drama; what is that quote about tangled webs??? Hmmm....
  19. Okay, Damn, why do I think after reading the last chapter that Wade could tie me up, fuck me, hurt me, and really make me like it?????? He maybe channeling his mother but damn, he is proving to be his own man. Between how he handled Carl and how he talked and interacted with Brad, you can just tell that Wade is really coming into his own. I really thought the scene with Matt talking to and holding Riley, with Wade and then Tiffany looking on was just perfect. Matt finally seems to be understanding Wade's feelings and thoughts, of course with a little help from Wade himself.... I can't wait for Wade's date with Sean, in the mood he is in, DAMN, anything might happen...
  20. Well, just loved the newest chapter and so glad that Kerry and Somers found each other, their getting together and moving away from Granger will open him up for a more serious encounter with Lord Chartley. I have said since we got to met Brigadier Lord Charltey that he might be the one to take Travers place in Granger's life. He just seems to be perfect for the position. While I do agree that Granger will not settle down with just one woman, Caroline, and just one man, maybe Lord Chartley, he needs to have one main male lover and I nominate Lord Chartley... I loved how Granger interacted and dealt with the other's on the voyage home. It seems that each of them saw what they wanted to in Granger each to their own beliefs. Granger is just the perfect social and political animal; and when you put him with Caroline, well damn just watch out... I hope that we get to see and deal with some of the ending of the family drama. I am still pushing for a terrible carriage accident that will end both Freddie and Lavina's miserable existences but.....
  21. Loved the new chapter of Paternity. The whole scene at the sorority house and then with Will and Tony were pitch perfect. Will standing up to and basically backing Carl down was classic. Carl seems really cowardly in a way I can't quite explain yet. I loved how Will handled Ryan the next morning. Will's fight with Brad was brilliantly staged as well. I do have to wonder what the whole backstory on Ryan's dad is; I mean it is obvious that he is a very bigoted person but is there more to it than that? I would think so. This was a great bridge chapter and is going to lead somewhere else.
  22. Well, the new chapter is out and it is as invigorating as the battle that it explored. The way that Nelson used one ship to bridge to the other actually was named after him. In a battle involving ships of the line it was really considered bad form for a ship of the line to fire on a frigate, the fact that it happened in the context of this story seems telling. I am glad that Granger is on his way home, we can tie up some family issues now before the next story begins. I still am hoping for a carriage accident with Freddie and Davina. Well, I am truly glad that Roberts and Gatling survived and are still together. Glad to have Lennox back, is it just for the voyage home or will be stay around??? Clifton had done well but there is no way someone that junior will stay first Lt. Granger has never been the type to need to blow his own horn, and allowing the reports to highlite the ships of the line will earn him more than a few thanks. Too many people know what Granger did so you can beat he will still get something for his action but it will be more behind the scene. I have to say I am hoping that when Granger returns to London there is some serious fraternization with a certain army brigadier...
  23. Hmmm... just how much do they try and recreate???? I had such dirty dirty thoughts when I read this....
  24. A little under the weather so this will be short for me at least... Loved the new chapter. Loved how Wade was able to explain to Matt what he was thinking; and loved that Matt finally saw what Wade was telling him all along. Loved the scene in the garden in the dirt, so hot... Loved that JP and Stef were the ones that met them afterward. I just really loved it.... p.s. Methodwriter's song picks were perfect for this chapter....
  25. Otherside by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers was perfect at that moment. It really evoked just the right feeling of what was going on; really a great choice...
