    Chapter 5

Well you know me; I like to kick a man when he's down. Do not fear

    Chapter 4

The whole thing is based on the town and the people I know. I live with these people and all the descriptions are based on the streets and mountains I see every day.

    Chapter 3

It is a difficult situation. In this country teachers having relationships with their pupils is very much frowned on but it isn't illegal if they are over 18. So why were you pouting

    Chapter 2

Well you can be sure that if you hang around in the cemetery you'll catch up with the story eventually.

    Chapter 1

Thank you Hun. That is exactly what I was trying for. I could see the painting in my head so I hope I've done it justice.

    Teacher's Pet

Ash has a gaping chasm inside that can only be filled by one man. Unfortunately that man is his art teacher. Josh is falling hard for his gifted but troubled student but is too professional to ever act on it. It's an impossible situation.

    Chapter 9

He had been so cold then, colder than he had ever been. Not so now. Josh stretched out beneath the soft warmth of his duvet and threw his arm up over his face with a sigh, his mind wandering over the past twenty four hours. The journey down the mountain had been a nightmare. The sky above was black as night, rent apart at regular intervals by jagged forks of lightening. The ground beneath their feet was turned into a mud slide, in places ankle deep, and they slipped and sl

    Chapter 8

The shack loomed out of the gloom quite suddenly, closer than he had expected. It gave him renewed energy and, in moments he was crashing into the wooden door, which was barely holding on its hinges. As he tugged at the rotting wood the last remaining hinge gave way and the whole door came loose in his hand, knocking him backwards. He almost fell but righted himself and flung the door to one side. The smell of animal occupation almost made him gag... you would have to be desperate to shelter

    Chapter 7

When Mr Hendicott went back to school he did not speak to Josh, did not mention to him that he had been to see Ash. If he had maybe things would have turned out differently. Josh had no idea that anything had happened, no idea at all... not until he got home. He knew as soon as he reached the front door that something was wrong. He knew because the door was open, only slightly but nevertheless... “Ash..?” Somehow he didn’t expect an ans

    Chapter 6

It was a bad night for both of them. Ash was restless and feverish, often moaning or crying out in his sleep and Josh remained staring fixedly at the ceiling stroking Ash to sooth him when he stirred, terrified to look at him, wracked with doubts and fears. His skin prickled as if he was too big for it, and burned where Ash touched him. Josh swung between certainty that he was doing the right thing and equal certainty that he was the biggest fool in the world and he shouldn’t even be fighti

    Chapter 5

Ash slept soundly until late evening. He woke suddenly to a word of darkness that was stiflingly hot and spiking with pain. Groaning aloud he tried to find a position that didn’t hurt but it was impossible. The blanket had wrapped itself tightly around him and held him like a straightjacket so that, for a moment, he fluttered on the edge of panic as he kicked and struggled to free himself of the cloying folds, careless of the pain. Finally, shivering and sweating from the p

    Chapter 4

When Mr Leonard opened the door he was surprised to see Mr Steerman standing there, laden down with bags and equipment. “Yes? Oh, Mr Steerman, I didn’t recognise you behind that... that... thing.” “It’s an easel. Ash wanted me to bring his exam work and equipment to him so he can finish his work at home.” “Oh... oh right. Yes... of course. It makes sense. It would be a shame to miss out on the exam, being so close. Come in, come in.

    Chapter 3

Josh had had an uncomfortable weekend. He had thought about what the headmaster had said to him, talked it over with friends, with his sister and had deconstructed every sentence a thousand times. He had done exactly the same with every conversation he could recall ever having had with Ash. He was pretty sure that they had never flirted, never crossed the line... pretty sure. Of course there had been the long silences and the stacked looks but that was Ash... it was the way he was with every

    Chapter 2

Ash was also disquieted by the conversation. He was very well aware that he was treading on thin ice, but lately... No one had ever paid much attention to him before... well not good attention at least. The school bullies had never had a problem singling him out from the crowd but no one else had ever seemed particularly interested, certainly not a teacher. Sure, he knew he could paint... had always known it, always done it as much as he could but no one had made a particularly big deal ab

    Chapter 1

“Ashley Leonard is a true artist. His work is exceptional. It is unthinkable that he should not go on to Art College. It is not even that I think he necessarily needs more training, it’s just for the experience, the connections he could make.” “I’m not saying I disagree with you but you can’t make the boy apply if he doesn’t want to.” Josh rolled his eyes. He was the new boy on the block and had the feeling that the headmaster, pleasant as he was, was humouring him for that very rea
