  3. Have a wonderfully happy birthday and rest of your life. HAPPY BIRTHDAY
  4. On a much smaller but everyday scale HIV is a condition of he immune system therefore causes all sorts of nasty little infections, mouth ulcers, cold sores, skin infections and rashes. Not to mention the fact that you have to take a cocktail of drugs every day and they all have their own side effects. People with HIV can live a pretty normal life... but it's one that brings it's own difficulties and burdens. One thing that has to happen is that you have to have a much greater awareness of the pepople around you who you are close to and have to keep safe. I have friends who have HIV and *touches wood* they are relatively fit and well at the moment but they are so often ill and every time they get a cold it's a bit of a panic. But, as James said the drugs are improving all the time as is the length and quality of life. Good for you to be tackling such a difficult subject.
  5. Hey... surrealism, myth, magic, vampires, philosophy, Shakespeare... that I pick up on... technology... not a chance. Haven't been on Facebook for ages and never really understood it when I did.
  6. I've never had hate mail, in that I have never had anyone rant over anything I've written. I've had criticism, which is awesome because it helps me grow. And I've had people say they don't like something I've written, which is fine... I don't expect everyone to like everything I have to admit though that I have done more than my fair share of ranting over other people's work *cough Twilight cough* (not Jamessavik's story) Glad to see you've risen above it *hugs*
  7. I'm not an expert by any means but I am a soft centered sentimentalist who can whip up a rhyme when I have the time. I'll give it a go. How do you want it delivered?
  8. You look cute together. You look cute... period
  9. Well.... I rounded up to nearest first digit after point ... coz I'm lazy so I got Utilitarian - 0.4 Moral rights - 0.5 Justice - 0.7
  10. I think that some of my work would be transposable onto film. I have never really thought about it... except that Many Ways to Die was written with my daughter's girlfriend in mind. She was doing a media course and gave me the idea of writing something that is kind of based around a video anyway. It would very easily take to the film format. Most of my stories I think have reasonably simple settings and happen over relatively short periods so I suppose they could work on film. As for what happens to them when they are written... I read them now and again and they're out there and I have never made any secret of the fact that I would love for someone to come along and keep writing, taking my characters and making them their own, in a new story or a continuation of mine. If fact it would be the highest form of compliment I could think of. I'm not precious with them. Hmm... I am not sure that any of the would lend themselves to a stage play... althogh again if anyone's interested in writing a script around one of my stories... go ahead. That is not my forte at all so it will never come from me.
  11. Me too
  12. Where do I get tickets? Any time you want to go for a ride just give me a shout You bring the popcorn and I'll bring the beer. We can share the foam hand
  13. It took ages to work out what was on your tshirt... it looked like you had a chest wig on... you can see how concerned I was about you being sick and dead
  14. Well, you know the way I write. If a subplot comes along it goes in... if not it doesn't Thinking over my stories now I can't think of any that have any major subplots, at least not explicitly. There are some which have other things going on which are alluded to but nothing where there are things going on at the same time that are followed if you know what I mean. Feeling somewhat muddled at the moment so that may not make sense... welcome to my world

That was a very powerful story... so why do you hold it up as a reason for you not to write about depression. It sums up a lot of emotion, of the hurt it causes those around the sufferer, of the difficulty in finding help, at least long term, the weariness of living with it for a long time and the fragility of life after all that. I think this piece says a hell of a lot in a short space and I would give it an A+ Oh but sloppy handwriting that boy. Must do better
  16. Just found this thread and I have to say that what I am attracted to is beauty... and not just on the outside. If someone is beautiful then I will appreciate them no matter what race they are. I find that many Africans are strinking and astonishingly beautiful, and Asian men, especially those with long blue black hair are not safe in the same room with me. Mediterranean types with curly black hair and flashing white teeth are of course any woman's wet dream. Scandinavial blondes with icy blue eyes and sexy accents make me go weak and as for Russians... all they have to do is talk. Arabic men are dreamy and ... well okay you get the message. My taste in men is truly international. As for women... Mediterranean goddesses with long flowing hair and flashing eyes... Asian beauties with black eyes and soft curves... scandinavian valkieries and soft peachy british country girls... Irish colleens and Scottish highland lasses... oh lust how diverse are your tastes. In short... If I am attracted to someone the colour of their skin, their accent (although it helps if it's sexy) or their culture means absolutely nothing to me.
  17. I've read most of them and I found them all interesting in their own way. I actually found the Communist Manifesto and Das Kapital very interesting. The problem we have, I think, in reading works such as this is that we know what has been done with them. But the way that people have taken communism and destroyed it in practice doesn not mean that there is no worth in it as an ideal. There are a lot of interesting and valuable ideas in there which I have found quite stimulating and infuential in my own world view. The fact is however that any attempt to adopt that kind of model in the real world is doomed to fail because people are people and they are generally incapable of being altruistic and there will always be those who will strive for dominance using any means possible and thene exploit their position... and there will always be those who let them.
  18. Don't worry... you're safe. Although I do, of course have a crush on Billy... who wouldn't? As well as at least... hmmm... twenty others... and yes Lugh OF COURSE you are one of them ... he isn't THE crush who's making my knees go weak at the moment so you're safe.
  19. OH!!! Someone else is crushing on my crush. If I had any intention of telling you who it was I'd have to kill you
