This is an experiment. I attempted to write a chamber slice-of-life piece: small space, small number of characters, two actually, not counting the cats.

He's instantly drawn to another young American, Chris, who’s doing an apprenticeship with one of the foremost experts on restoring musical instruments. Saddened that they must go their separate ways, a near-death experience shows them both what matters most.

This continuation of the story that began as “The Last Boys In Clinton” follows George, Lionel, and Lorenzo to Clinton, Tennessee, a suburb of Knoxville.

It will also cover the futures of some of the other major characters from that story.
