A story about a boy who moves to a new town completely different from where he and his family used to live. It deals slightly with mannerisms dealing with religion and homosexuality.

“SHIT! How am I going to get out of this? How in hell did this happen? Oh God he’s getting nearer!” panicked thoughts flew through Jason Barnette’s mind as he ran for what he felt was his life. His feet pounding the concrete paving beneath him, he felt no tiredness, no pain, void of all feeling except the white-hot sickness that creeps through your body causing your veins to turn icy in fear. All he knew at that moment was that turning down the dead end alley had been a mistake.

Jonah is a 14 y.o. student who has come to terms with being gay. Being from a small town in bible-belt Alabama he is scared to tell anyone. Just as he admits his secret to himself, he loses the one person he might tell, his mom. A few months later he goes on a trip with his dad to the beach and falls in love with 16 y.o. Skyler. Sky is the perfect boy but lives hours away, also deep in the closet. They maintain their secret long distance affair until it is traumatically discovered.

A lonely gay man finds the man of his dreams.

The Carthera are a violent race, never failing to respond to battle, they nevertheless are a proud and honorable people. Except for the ferals. Battles for territory, fighting persecution from the humans, for the right to rule, have echoed down through the ages. In these modern times things are different, easier. Laws are made--and enforced--and peace, of a sorts, is possible. Some seek to end that.

Summer flings are always fun. You meet a new person, you just barely get to know them, you have a good time and it’s over in a couple weeks. When you go home back to your real life, the memories are still fresh in your mind and they’re good memories—so good, in fact, that you convince yourself that you were in love.

But you weren’t. Because with real love, it’s not the happy memories that make you smile that let you know that you were in love - it’s the pain.
