Tiger's Book of poetry - 19. Poem 19: The Dream

I dream of the day when I can have what I want

But it’s hard to figure out if it can ever be

I walk the path of confusion and loneliness

Where it leads I do not know but I ponder

Will I ever be where I want to be or is it a lost cause?

I dream of the nights of endless and beautiful passion

But it’s hard to let go of what I desire

I walk the path of one who does not understand

Where do I belong if I cannot be who I want to be?

Will I ever break free of the pain and strife that is my burden?

I dream of the wondrous ever-burning flame of desire

But it seems to have vanished never to return

I walk the path of the one who is lost forever

Where I can go is unknown to me now

Will I ever be the one who goes where I want to go?

I dream of a life in which I feel complete and happy

But it seems like a mere fruitless, destructive fantasy

I walk the path unsure of my destination

Where I belong is so uncertain and troublesome

Will I ever find the serene meadows I so desire?
