Tiger's Book of poetry - 20. Poem 20: Freedom
I may not be perfect yet I am real and growing stronger
I am free to spread my wings and soar beyond the horizon
The time in the pit of despair reminds me of scars
No longer will I allow myself to be weak
I may not be the strongest I have ever been yet I know
I am free to seek a life beyond the darkness of agony
The time of torture only feeds my resolve to live
No longer will it determine the course of my days
I may not be a saint yet I am kind-hearted and gentle
I am free to help others and raise my head without regret
The times in my life of being a victim make me wiser
No longer will it impair me or make me feel weak
I may not be a martyr yet I yearn to make a difference
I am free to be the man who helps those in need
The time of despair has taught me great patience
No longer will I be helpless for I am perseverant
