The Sock Drawer - 36. Reflective Of The Healing Isle
Reflective Of The Healing Isle
Call me Franz Kafka, for I swim
In a tangled and cloudy swamp,
Where every stretch of air is damp
And every single light is dim.
There are entities around me,
And likely they are humans, too.
They live and revel in this goo
That has birthed and raised and bound me.
They simply lead their lives in it,
While I wish only to escape
Each dark and daunting looming shape,
But I see all their pride's in it.
They see themselves succeed at large
While pushing other people down,
Don't even notice how they drown,
Groping for hold, a boat, a barge.
It has been the longest while and
I have been floating all my life –
Aimless I've been, still it was strife.
Till I washed up on this island.
I cannot leave this raging storm
Forever, but some peace and calm
I may taste through sweet, soothing balm
That weaves through you and keeps you warm.
The magic that makes you glimmer,
The mist in you smelling of pine,
The grass, rock and leaves with their shine,
When with you, all fear grows dimmer –
My island, let all this be mine.
I wish this could be für immer.
