Re-Verse - 4. Heatwave

On a day of revoltingly hot temperatures but virtually no sun, these came to mind during a city commute.

Breathing

Recommended

Only if desperate -

Heat, fumes, dust, smog, such a fragrant

Bouquet

Noxious

Vapours catching in throat and lungs

Nitrogen oxide for

All, free of charge

For now

~

Thirsty

Plants droop, gasping

Exhausted, trying to

Survive, desperately waiting

For rain

~

I'm sat in a sauna,

Sweating but still fully clothed.

This heat does not cleanse; this steam

Of sweat, fumes, fast food and people

Makes my head ache and my temper flare.

Sunlight stokes my sauna’s furnace

Until a new high is reached.

I drip, self-marinating,

As I come to the boil.

Awesome, northie. You put me back to those times when I was stuck on a bumper to bumper highway for my own commute, with no air conditioning... and to those times I had to ride the buses and subway... thank god that suffering is over... you paint the uncomfortable stresses and tensions... exasperation... perfectly. Well done... cheers... Gary....

Thanks, Gary. Only working part-time now, commuting every day is something I don't miss one little bit ...

You're describing my office... The rest of the building is comfortable or freezing, but my office is always way too hot.  I'd rather be cold than hot.  And now I'm having a hot flash in solidarity with you.  Great job with these. :)

Glad you enjoyed them, Val. Work, fortunately, was quite bearable - unlike our old building where we would've been a puddle. Cool is definitely better than hot. :)
