Will I or Won't I ... napowrimo 2018 - 5. The Last Two Days

Here are the final two. Thank you to all of you who read, liked or commented, you are are appreciated and i thank you.

April 29, 2018

Toronto

Sunday dawns quiet
I am ready for some peace
the week past still weighs heavy
as we continue to mourn our dead

April 30, 2018

I know there are ghosts in the attic
they thump, bang and scream.
People do not believe in them
telling me it's all a dream

But I tarried one night in the attic
the ghosts had a cocktail party
waiters carried drinks and sandwiches
but not any food you'd call hearty

They turned around when they noticed
and said we are happy to agree
but when I tried to leave there
the bigger ghosts detained me

"This party's just started you know,
you cannot just walk away.
Perhaps you have not realized, but
you're here with us until doomsday."

I had to escape that haunted party
So down the ladder I flew
The house I sold and left behind
My next home will be brand new!

Excellent poems, tim. April 29th's was a nice reflection. Very thoughtful after the event of last week. April 30's, however, I see it differently from the other commenters. It reminds me of relationships. Notably, an old relationship, that may have resparked, and you're giving it another go... until to you find the spectors from the past still there, and call it off again. Hoping for a new relationship with someone more trustworthy.

You see!!!  Yes that's it. I wrote, for me, a silly funny poem about a haunted house, no hidden meanings.. and then you read it and look at what it means to you. That is poetry.. that's what it should do.. i love it!!   Thanks for writing down what you felt. I think its perfect!

I loved your April finale. The first talks to

me of hurt and healing, while the second made me laugh. Wish the ghosts would have a party with the mice in my attic. Thank you for these and each of the other 28 you penned this month.

oh, so much pain ... so many stories of people giving the dying comfort.. a number of the dead visitors to our city from Korea and Jordan .. horrible.  With Peter's friend missing the first day.. it was hard to cope with.

I'm glad you laughed at the second.. made me laugh too. :)   Thanks for your support Parker xoxxo

you've had a brilliant run of poems this month, tim. They're all good, and I commend you for your dedication. April 30th reminds me of a haunted apartment I lived in shortly after I moved to Colorado, lol.
