Will I or Won't I ... napowrimo 2018 - 4. Fourth Week

Used several prompts as inspiration, there was a visit to the hospital, many people were killed and injured in Toronto when a man ran them over in a white van, and @MacGreg said something that inspired me!

April 22, 2018 - Prompt: Comment on the narcissism of our time, i.e. beauty and body obsession, etc.

A mirror is duplicitous blinding us to the truth
Turning around, you see what you want to
Beauty is king, though it's naught but a casing
It cannot hold back truths buried beneath

We are obsessed with shape and appearance
Preening, running and paying for perfection
When in truth we are each good enough
Without surgery, tanning or Botox

Comeliness does not equal happiness
and some of us have the vision to see
the beauty locked deep inside
and giving you my hand sets it free

April 23, 2018 - Toronto van attack

My poetry;

this tiny bit of my world

was run over

by a white van

April 24, 2018

hospital

All is beige in these gloomy halls
Fake wooden doors hide secret places
Rooms filled with both pain and healing
Lost faces roam warren-like passages
Searching for places they rather not go.

day after van attack

When you told us
He was safe
Worry fell from me
like a lead coat

April 25, 2018

@MacGreg Sir said something the other day that inspired this:

Aspens whisper their truth
in the cold Colorado winds.
Where April's spring throes
bring cold May snows.

April 26, 2018

Though this week brought worry and pain,
fear and hate ran through our streets,
and gray skies seem to be the new normal,
Today love and hope, fills my tired heart.

Our spirit, our souls are resilient within us,
we strive to accomplish and triumph.
For it is our dreams, the need to create,
and strive, that makes us human.

April 27, 2018 - Prompt: A circle can't have corners

Beyond Possible

Someone told me the earth is flat
and penguins can fly like pigs.
Of these I have some doubt
c
uz they are beyond possibility.

They said that circles can have corners
and life is simply a dream.

But you have done the impossible
and made our years together merely days.

April 28, 2018 - Prompt: The Hermit (Tarot Card)

I ask over and over again, why am I here?
Please share with me the meaning of life.
There is no answer you can give me
for the results do not rest with you
but are found within each of us
We each have a path to follow
and our own wisdom to find
To walk it, we must turn inward
leave the outside world of man
retreat inward, seeking the vital spark.

These are all beautiful in their emotion. Simple in their words and meaning.

April 26th is so poignant for the moment. Politics, horrific attacks and accidents crowding news feeds. I’m trying hard to find hope. Great challenge this year tim. xo

Your words made me run a gauntlet of emotions , April 22 , catches because I’m ‘ aging as well as a beach party balloon’ ( borrowed from Torch Song Trilogy) and don’t have the personability to fill the gap .Hermit sits close to my heart , the inner light and solitude feel like home.

you know jp, i understand what you're saying ... it's hard sometimes to keep your head up.  it's why i don't watch the news much anymore.  it's just too much for me.  Michael does His best to keep me away from the news.  Frankly sometimes i glad not to know.  thanks for reading and commenting .. xoxo

Thank you for reading and for your comments. You know, I always look forward to your thoughts, I'm pretty sure you have a great personability, very sure in fact.  Thanks again, much appreciated. xo

Succinct and direct, these poems offer me insight and life. April 23 and 24 speak volumes in just a few words; like scintillating stars in the sky. April 25 struck a chord with me, releasing a host of memories, scents and images. I join you in asking the questions you write in April 28. April 27 is brilliant, and full of life and love. April 22 gives me hope. It reminds me not to pay attention to the mirrors my mind holds up to me for inspection. Thank you for each and every word you wrote this week.

Thank you Parker. It was a tough week, upsetting and worrisome. The use of prompts was helpful, even though didn't use them as originally intended. They are more a suggestion than a rule!  Thanks again for your support!  xo

Thanks A. Sometimes, and i am this way, more than one poem is too much information. Sometimes you need to choose one and let your brain mull it over.  I appreciate all of your support. xox

Wonderful all of them. However the Toronto Van tragedy poems were sad but well done. Much better poetry this year my boy.
