Chapter 18

Jason POV

I can’t believe I fucking did that? How can I be so stupid to punch someone for talking shit about Aiden. I maybe his boyfriend now, but ugh! Stupid. I looked at my hand with disgust. Shaking my head, I look towards the door as it opens. A doctor came in with a smile upon his face. “Well young man, that hand will need to be put into a cast I’m afraid.” I grumbled, “Now don’t fret. It will heal in the next six to eight weeks.” He smiles at me.

“Fuck!” I smack my bed with the useful hand, “That means I have to sit out for that many weeks from football!” Shaking my head, I look towards the man. “I will lose my scholarship. FUCK!” I yelled out.

“I’m sorry….” He Pauses, “maybe next time don’t hit the person,” He stops talking when I throw him a glare. “Sorry, I’ll be going now. The nurse should be in here in a bit to wrap it.” With that he leaves.

Aiden Pov

Upon getting to Jason’s room, I could hear some swearing. I winced every time he swore. And then I heard what I didn’t want to hear. “I may be his boyfriend, but fuck. Why couldn’t I have just let them talk shit about him. You’re a dumbfuck Jason James!” He exclaims. My heart dropped, I put my hand on the wall. My eyes started to blur, I didn’t want to cry. Shaking my head, I knew I was stupid. I knew that he would hurt me, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I thought… I thought I could trust him, but I can’t. I never could… Wiping off my face roughly, I looked at his room’s door one last time, before I turned around and walked back to my mother.

“Hey…” She started but stopped, “What’s wrong baby? Didn’t you see Jason?” She asks, with shake of my head, I continued on my way to the parking lot. The faster I’m out of here the better.

Once to the car I waited for my mother to get there. She unlocks the doors, and I get in the car, closing the door softly. I didn’t have the emotional strength or the physical strength at the moment to slam it. I slumped in the car as my mother starts it. I know she wants to ask, and I know I should tell her, but it just hurts right now. “Can you just drive me home, mom. Please?” My voice shook at that last word.

“Sure, baby.” She says softly. She places her hand on my thigh before putting the car in drive…

My phone has been going off like crazy today. I didn’t care. I didn’t want to talk to anyone, I didn’t want to send anyone texts, i didn’t want to interact with them either. I should just turn off my phone. But I knew that once I saw the messages and the missed calls I would start to cry once more. I have been fine. I’ve been lying in my bed since we got back.

“Aiden, do you want something to eat, dear?” My mother asks, from the other side of my door.

“No mom, I’m fine.” I say

“Okay dear. Well it will be in the kitchen if you get hungry.” She says, and I listen to her footsteps getting further away from my door.

Courtney Pov

What is wrong with Aiden? He hasn’t been answering his phone. He’s probably with Jason. Maybe I should call him again. Reaching for my phone, I quickly scroll down and swipe my screen to call Jason. But it goes directly to voicemail. What the fuck! I stare my phone.

“Hey Riley?” I spotted him down a few lockers, talking to a pretty brunette. He looks up from her and spots me.

“Hey Court. What’s up?” He asks

“Hey you heard from Aiden or Jason lately?” I ask

“Can’t say that I have. Why what’s wrong?” He asks, paying me more attention than the girl in front of him.

“Well every time I try to call they both send me to voicemail. I’m heading over there after school. You want to come with?” I ask

“Sure why not the crew hasn’t been in the same room with each other for a few weeks.” He says.

“Thanks.” I say, and he goes to back to paying attention to the brunette. Typical males!

Whipping out my phone, I group texted everyone, well except Aiden. Selecting Riley, Sam, Jude, Heather, and Ryan, “Hey guys going to Aiden’s after school. You game?” Within a few minutes, they all agreed.

*****

A few hours later we are all gathered on Aiden’s front porch. My hand reaches out to push the bell, but I hesitate. “Maybe he doesn’t want us to butt in. I mean it isn’t our problem nor our business in the first place.” I say to myself, looking beside me there stood Heather with her eyebrow knit together.

“Hey it’s going to be okay.” She says with a shrug and a smirk

“Yeah, you’re right. It’s Aiden after all.” I chuckle. Finally pushing the damn bell, we wait until the door opens up showing Mrs. Smith, with shock face she recovers quickly enough. She doesn’t look like she’d aged in the all time that I have known her, whatever her secret is, I want it. Mrs. Smith has flowing brown hair that meets at her collar. Her eyes are like Aiden’s perfectly emerald. With beautiful full kissable lips that sit nicely on her flawless face. I almost swoon just looking at her. “Get a grip. Stop perving on your best friend’s mother. You’re not even into girls. Or should I say woman. Snap out of it!” My brain screams at me. Shaking my head.

“Can we see Aiden please?” I ask nicely

“I don’t know kids, he hasn’t been feeling well since visiting Jason earlier.” She says. My face falls at that.

“We are worried about him. Usually he texts us, but nothing. He’s not even picking up his phone. So please Mrs. Smith.” I plea with her

She sighs, “Just don’t make him more upset please.” She rubs her temples before opening the door even more.

“YES!” We all yell at the same time, “Come on ya’ll.” We go inside the house and up the stairs. Standing in front of his door, we hear some crying faintly, and a nose being blown. This can’t be good. After hearing that my heart clenches inside me for my best friend. Looking at the group around me they pretty much feel the same. Knocking on the door, we wait for Aiden to answer.

“Go away mom, I don’t want food. Or anything. Just leave me alone!” He practically yells from the other side of the door.

“We aren’t your mother and we aren’t going anywhere. Open this door or we will have to do this the hard way Aiden.” I say calmly

We hear some muttering coming closer to the door; we hear the door being unlocked but not opened. Taking a chance I open it slowly. Once the door opens all the way. You could tell a battle went on in here. Paper littered the floor, clothes flown all over, glass pieces lay scattered on the carpet. And the mirror looks mangled. Looking at Aiden you could tell that he’s battling himself. Just what the hell happened to him to make him do this?

“Do you want to talk about it Aiden?” Riley spoke quietly

“No…” he also says quietly

“Aiden, what happened?” I ask, but when he looks at me. My heart breaks. This has Jason written all over it.

“You want to know what happened? Do you… Do you! ILL FUCKING TELL YOU WHAT HAPPENED!” He exclaims as he picks up his phone and throws at the wall. We watch as the phone smashes into the wall. Sending pieces of it, falling all over the room. Making us gasp out in fear

“Was that really necessary Aiden?” Sam speaks.

While I sympathize with Aiden, I also agree with Sam...just a bit over the top! I think he should have enough faith in his boyfriend to at least ask for and receive an explanation...and then, if it's not good enough...break things...across his head... Nice chapter...love the friends rallying to his side!!!

hmm.  Aiden over reacting big time.  The point is. He DIDNT let them talk shit. And now he’s paying the price for it losing out on football and a scholarship even though he doesn’t really need it…. But to have earned it would have been good for his moral.
