A Fool's Thoughts - 8. For S. - a poem for a friend

For S.
Cold waves nip at my bare feet,
the air crackles like charged black velvet.
Your taste on my tongue is still sweet,
lingering heat,
and I am naked in the rain.

Lightning bolts jigsaw the sky.
Clouds race each other in a wild hunt.
And then in a blink of an eye
you said good-bye
and I am left, naked in the rain.

Your voice still sings in my head.
Ti ameró per sempre.
Aren’t these the words you said?
Red.
And I die naked in the rain.

I wrote this for my friend S., who needed words.

It's a very powerful poem, Addy. There's an appealing lyrical quality to it. I could easily see this set to music. Nice job. Here's a hug for you and your friend.

Images drew onto my mind's display as I read each line. I can see and feel the pain and despair. I liked the view of the picture despite the sadness; the rain, the sea and a naked body.

Wonderful Adi. Just wonderful.

There are only two 'S's I can think of, but only one who speaks Italian. (I think.)

It was a beautiful poem, and it gave me chills.

You'll have to write me and let me know if I'm right. I hope S is ok...

Thank you, Val! I wish I could write some music for it. S. plays the guitar, it would be perfect.

Emi! Thank you for your kind words. Grief can be devastating, yet powerful like a storm. I just hope it can be cleansing too.

Hope S can take some comfort in your beautiful poem. Sounds like a truly broken heart...

A truly broken heart...yes. If it helped just a little I would be glad. Thank you, Puppi.

It was heart-wrenching. You know us too well. Thank you, Lisa.

Very sad. More a wondering 'what if...?' than a farewell.

It's beautifully written, though, and the touch of Italian is enough to well tears in the eye.
