Poems, Old and New - 2. Hastings Town

The sun is setting on the sand,

The seagulls are flying inland.

Everybody is heading home,

The night is coming like a dome.

Night is coming to Hastings town,

Everywhere is quiet with no sound.

Now it’s night,

The kids take flight.

The clubs are open now.

But don’t have too many,

Or you’ll not have a penny.

And one last warning,

About the morning…

(You’ll regret it!)

Cazzie.. very sweet... just learned a lot about Hastings.. bring lots of cash if you want to go clubbing.
I think you'll have a great set of poems here when you're finished...

:thankyou:

Yep, drink (whether alcoholic or non) is expensive in Hastings/England. The last time I went out with my sister it cost my £50 (approximately $76US)for the night - including my taxi home - and that was four years ago.

Nowadays, I just stay home with a DVD, a bowl of sweets/popcorn, and snuggle up to my hubby

Hope you enjoy the rest as they post :)

Good one Caz. Totally got the night on the town vibe..
That also sounds like some parts of the City. You almost have to plan for a night out..

Seems like a life time ago now, that I was out on the town trying to corral my drunk friends into a taxi and make sure each one got back to their homes (I was always the sober one :( ). Saw some awesome singing groups though :)

Ah, to be young again and not have bills to pay instead of going out ;)

:thankyou: for the review

First, I am so sorry for the delay in replying :( I didn't see the notification and am only just doing my routine check of my various stories/poems.

I am so glad you liked the poem and you are right it is like a new/different life once the sunsets. The people you meet at night compared to the daytime are so different, its like people change their personalities as well as their clothes before they go out. I think it is the fact people can shake off their day and just relax for the night before the new day brings back all the responsibilities (and the hangover :P )

Thank you for taking the time to comment
