Terry feels different. As a kid, he felt isolated and cut off from both family and friends. Later in life, he has an encounter with another man, which changes everything. His boss sees he's fallen in love, but what does that mean? The stranger in his life touched him in ways he doesn't understand. This is his story of awakening.

This is the first in a series of short stories I'm callling, Fall Through the Crack.  The main character, Terry, is based on interviews I had with an old, dear friend who died twenty years ago.  Terry and I got to know each other as roommates.  We drifted apart, but I found my notes and I want to tell some fictionalized episodes to honor him.

Growing up is difficult enough, but it's even harder when you feel different than everyone else.  And it's even worse if you're ostracized by your peers, so what do you do?  Do you become a recluse and shut yourself away, or do you try to find a purpose in your life - something that makes you feel better about yourself?  Possibly you'll build confidence through your job or with a hobby that you're good at, and once that happens, maybe it gives you hope that things are getting better and your opinion of yourself begins to rise.  At least there will be hope that your situation will improve, if and when that happens.

This short story deals with these issues for one young man.  You may even be able to relate to some of his feelings, but does he react to those feeling the same way you would under similar circumstances?  I encourage you to read this intriguing story and learn how this young man's situation turns out.
