going to a party - 1. going to a party

Dedicated to those who have social anxiety. You are not alone.

the black anvil nears

white hot sparks threaten

too loud voices taunt me

torrents on a steel roof

the howling wind mocks me

laughter of contempt

my stomach twists

acid boiling

Waiting hurts

Ice. Cold. Terror.

And I used to like going to parties. The emotions you conveyed showed me the flip side of that coin.

I definitely relate to this, especially the description of the loud voices. You conveyed the feeling of social anxiety quite well. Thanks for sharing.

What? :o leaving me hanging there?

Check out chapter 2 of 1550 Loring Lane. The story resides there. I hope you see some resolve there. It's based on him. Thank you for your review. It is appreciated.

For me parties are just another stage, for the persona in this poem it is a personal hell. Never expected someone to feel that way. Nicely handled Cole.
